History

Established in 2008.

Calligraphy by Cristine came about after giving up my 12-​year-​old marketing career to stay home with my children. Owning my own business had been a long sought-​after dream and what better time to do it.

My grandfather spent his life’s work as a tool and die maker for Sheaffer Pen Company in Ft. Madison, Iowa. When I was 10 years old, my grandmother gave me my first Sheaffer Calligraphy Pen Set. It was my first exposure to calligraphy. I always enjoyed being creative, and I loved the art of calligraphy immediately. I ended up teaching myself how to write in the basic styles of calligraphy by following the examples in the pen set’s handbook.

While growing up, I would occasionally pick up my calligraphy pen but it wasn’t until my own wedding that I decided to take a refresher course on calligraphy. I loved addressing all of my own envelopes and thought a lot about starting my own business addressing others’ envelopes for their special events.

My background as a former Marketing Communications Manager gave me the know-​how to step out on my own and start Calligraphy by Cristine.
