Gipper Prom

I never write reviews, but had to for Gipper. Their customer service is truly outstanding. We purchased a prom dress and my daughter quickly felt it just wasn’t «the one». I was sure the store would not let us exchange it, but thought I’d stop by to at least ask… I was so pleasantly surprised that Rebecca and her staff made it soooo easy and we ended up with the perfect dress. It was not only NO PROBLEM, but a n easy and fun experience. CAN’T SAY ENOUGH POSITIVE THINGS ABOUT THIS STORE AND STAFF!

I’ve never had a worse customer service experience than I did at this store today. The ladies that were «helping» me were extremely rude. They would not let me try on more than two dresses because they assumed I was not looking to buy because I was not with an adult. Even after I told them I was interested in buying a dress, one of the girls told me that I shouldn’t try on more dresses because they didn’t want them to be worn many times. One of the dresses I was able to try on, I had to get in a size that was abnormally larger than my usual size. I really liked it, and as I was about to try on another dress, the girl grabbed it out of my hands, saying it would not fit me and refused to let me try on any other dress in the store. I’m overall extremely disappointed with the service I received today. You made me feel like shit and I didn’t need to drive an hour for that.

Note that I am a plus sized girl. I am a size 16. With that said, this store is not for girls that are bigger, if you are a size 10 or under, this place is nice. They have beautiful dresses and a large selection if you are an average to thin girl. However, that’s where the good ends. They had one nice employee but the one that zipped the dresses was extremely rude. (No, you or your party members are not allowed to zip them up)
The dresses I tried on I knew wouldn’t fit when she would start to zip them. But she then would announce loudly that it wouldn’t zip all the way and it would not fit. She could have suggested maybe trying a different style or size instead of that, but thats just my opinion.

Their customer service is beyond any expectations. They were quick to respond to my dilemma over a dress and it’s missing straps (I lost them!) we purchased weeks ago — they went out of their way to replace the straps for me, even though it was my error. I really didn’t think they could help but I thought to ask anyway. And Roy and Sarah worked quickly to help. Thanks so much Gipper! You saved the day and started my weekend on a great note.

My only problem with this place is that when I walked in and told the nice man what I was looking for he told me I should check out there location in Crystal lake because it has a much bigger selection… darn i drove all the way oout here. ANyway he was very kind pointed me to the dresses and I tried a few on but couldnt find a winner… I will be trekking to the sister store soon!

Roy was incredibly helpful and truly cares about making your wedding special. I wanted a charcoal grey tuxedo and Gippers was one of the early adopters to pre-​order this color (it hasn’t been in the industry for over 10 years). They have inventory in-​house so you can actually try on your tuxedo — unlike the big chains (e.g. Men’s Warehouse). I am going to recommend Gippers to all my friends who live downtown Chicago, definitely worth the drive to the suburbs to see Roy and his 30+ years of experience.

Gipper was awesome! They were very accomodating, and worked well with our colors and specifications. We had no issues, and we take our hats off to them! We also looked very sharp in our zuit suits, which were a good price at Gipper!
