University Movers

Worst movers that I’ve encountered. Yes they are cheaper than the other movers but I guess you get what you pay for. My 9am appointment was terribly delayed. They got to my house at 1:30 pm. Although they called later in the morning like an hour after the appointment, this practice is not acceptable. It’s very unprofessional. I was calling using my number, they never answer but when I used a different number, guess what? Answered right away. Lol!!! They never assembled back the stuff that they disassembled. Scratched my leather sofa bed. My console table broken. My bed ruined. If only they would wrap the stuff it would be lesser damage but they didn’t. Walls of the house was damaged. I could go on and on. Just to make this short, Stay away! My friend that made an appointment with them did cancel right away after I told them my experience. And for the record, I don’t write reviews like this. I’m always on the positive side. Just stay away! I do agree with the negative reviews here.

Very smooth move. Very nice guys. They had a good attitude and did a great job. I will definitely use them again for the next move.

I hired University Movers for my recent move from a 3^rd floor condo to a two story townhouse. They did a fantastic job! Nothing was broken and no walls were damaged. They were very patient, friendly and helpful. They moved quickly and placed everything where it belong in the new home. The price was realistic with no hidden costs (shrink wrap, truck fees etc…), they even have wardrobe box to use at no additional charge. I would definitely recommend them and most definitely use them again!

Is it possible to leave a review with less than one star? I left 3 separate voice mail messages requesting a call back regarding my move. Guess what? Not a single call back! I could tell by the message at the other end that I had reached the correct number. This truly sucks. The worst customer service ever!
PICK A DIFFERENT MOVING COMPANY!!!

I am unable to come up with enough words to describe how great and easy of an experience this was. I set up my appt with Vicki (wife and co-​owner) who was incredibly friendly and helpful. I got a rate that was half of what I was quoted by others. I also got a flat rate. Not charged for mileage or travel which was wonderful because it was a 35 mile move.
Fred (husband and co-​owner) drive the truck and had 2 very friendly and efficient employees working. I had a very easy move of 2 couches from one storage unit to another and it could not have gone more easy.
Professional, inexpensive, friendly, fast, and not only w were they on time, but they were also a 15 minutes early. All of my future moves will be through them. I highly recommend them.
***On a side note for the review that came from Jill. I don’t understand how her experience was so bad. If she felt the movers were responsible for her broken items, why didn’t she check everything before she closed her storage unit? You cannot blame the movers without proof. Anyone knows that if you hire movers, you monitor them and make sure they’re careful. You should also double check everything after it’s moved to the destination to make sure there are no damages BEFORE they leave.

We moved a year ago into our rental house and the movers we decided on were University Movers. These guys showed up right on time and were ready to work. They did a wonderful quick move and unloaded us perfectly into our new home. Price was right and we were very satisfied. Well… here we are a year later and we are moving AGAIN… sigh…so guess who we are going to call for our move? Yep! University Movers you make me feel comfortable about our move and we will be calling you tomorrow! Thank you for being such an awesome company!

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE! They destroyed a ton of my belongings. This business is owned by a husband and wife & clearly run a shady business. The husband, their son, and 2 other men showed up for the move. They were disgusting, dirtied up my entire house the day before I had a final walk through for the buyers. The wife came out to my house to clean up their mess after I called her about the mess. We were moving our belongings into a storage unit. I had to call her again because they were having snowball fights, constant cigarette breaks, and my matress cover was never put on when they loaded it into the truck. She called her husband and they were in a screaming match at the storage unit. They handled the whole situation extremely unprofessional and trashy. When we unpacked a yr later we found our brand new leather couch scuffed up all over it, our canopy bed top, also brand new, completely ruined. Our china hutch base legs were broken off. The matress cover which they said they would put on at the unit after complaining once, NEVER put on and my new matress was filthy from their dirty, cigarette smoke hands & and the fabric water protector was ripped. Missing items… the list goes on. I called Vicky right then and there & she said she’d look up my file and call me back. Again, shocking, never heard from her. After calling & calling, her husband Fred called back & went off on my husband. Then said to submit a claim to their insurance. We got a list together, personally dropped it off to them & shocking, never heard from them and won’t return our calls. I had countless people at the storage unit, including the managers coming up to me asking who these people were to make sure they NEVER used or recommended them to anyone.

I hate moving. We all do. But I’ve had to move about every 2 years for the past 18 years, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned in that time, it’s that movers are totally worth the money you pay them! But bad movers can make a nightmare out of an already stressful day.
So I came to Unilocal to check out the reviews of movers in the area. I called 2 companies to compare estimates and my experience with each was completely different. I spoke with Vicki at University Movers, and she was very friendly, but also efficient — quickly asking me questions about my house, my furniture, the distance between the old place and the new place, etc. She gave me an estimate over the phone based on estimated hours and travel, what it would include, and let me know they were available on the date I requested.
The other company called me (Two Men and a Truck), and the guy was not especially friendly over the phone. He asked me about 2 questions — how many bedrooms and the distance between the old place and new place. Instead of an estimate based on hourly rate, he said the rate would be based on weight. (As a customer, I can verify how long a move takes once it’s been completed. I have no way of knowing how much all of my belongings weigh, which means you really have to hope the movers are being honest about the weight.) The estimate from Two Men and a Truck was over 70% higher than the estimate I got from University Movers. I have no idea if it would have actually been that high, but I called Vicki back and scheduled my move.
Moving day came, and Fred and his team showed up right on time, quickly took stock of what we had to move, and began loading the truck. They were friendly, hard-​working, and very careful with all of our belongings. (I know it’s normal to have a few belongings dinged during a move, but we didn’t notice any problems at all this time — everything arrived in the condition that it left!) They also finished in exactly 1 hour less than was estimated, which saved me even more money.
In short, I definitely recommend University Movers and I’ll be using them again in the future the next time I move.

BEWARE, this is the most unprofessional, unskilled group of people I have ever dealt with in my entire life. Unless you want your home damaged, your property broken and to be harassed and threatened, stay away from University Movers. The owner is the worst of them all, not delivering on any promises she makes despite telling you everything you want to hear in order to get your business.
