So this place is walking distance from where I work. And it doesn’t suck, so mas practico. Have I had better tacos? Yes, I have. But the tacos are pretty good. The tortas are enormous, and also pretty good. And the prices are amazingly low. The service is slow. Welcome to Texas, I guess. Don’t expect a quick in and out. Also, TV monitors play a continuous, annoying pitch on some kind of Spanish shopping channel. Not exactly the venue for a romantic date. The food is decent, though. And cheap. Call ahead for take-out, or bring a book to read while you ignore the TV en Espanol until your order arrives.

As soon as I walked into this empty, quiet restaurant, I was greeted by a woman on the phone. Since I had never been here, I was unsure of how to order, so I just ordered at the counter with the woman who was still talking on the phone. I ordered a chorizo burrito and a Coke.($ 5.95) as I sat down at a table, the woman who took my order brought me some chips and salsa, continuously talking on the phone. The burrito and salsa were mediocre at best. The chorizo had nice flavor to it, but the burrito was drowned in oil. Definitely not going to order it next time. The salsa wasn’t spicy at all, but there’s worse out there. I would return, but only after I’ve brushed up on my Spanish skills and I’ll try something else– maybe the tacos or tortas that everyone is raving about. Overall service: crappy. Food: mediocre. Atmosphere: if you love orange, you’ll be a fan. Tvs not on, no music, could hear a pin drop– give it 2 stars overall.

We love La Paloma! Second best thing to El Paso mexican food where we acquired our taste for the real deal. Everything is fresh and authentic. Atmosphere is muy hispana, the way I like it when I am eating the best street tacos and posole(Fridays only). Yeah, Baby!

This is slowly becoming my favorite pit stop after work. The Torta Italiana it’s great. The staff is very friendly. Overall it’s a fun kinda place ! I have heard really good things about their breakfast but haven’t had a chance to try it!

I was hoping to find an «authentic» mexican food experience and La Paloma did not disappoint. It was my impression that english was the second language there, the menu is in spanish with english translations below most(but not all) items, and our waitress didn’t quite know the exact translations for some of the items.(Turns out a ‘Lengua’ is beef tongue, ha!) And most the other patrons were speaking in spanish. To me, those were all good signs that I found someplace that probably knows about real mexican food. We had lots of questions about the menu and our waitress was very accommodating. The salsa is thinner than I am used to, but the flavor was addictive. I ordered 4 different flavored tacos and they were all good. My date ordered enchiladas and said she enjoyed them. They serve cokes in tall glass bottles which always feels like a treat. I was prepared to pay cash after reading some of the other reviews, so I can’t comment if they take credit cards or not. You can preview the menu and prices on their website. The atmosphere was casual and just the right amount of dinginess. If I had to find something to complain about, I’d say the parking could be a little more«inviting». Reminds me of parking/eating at a hole-in-the-wall restaurant in Austin.

Steady, dependable Mexican tacos and tortas. Favorites are the Pastor tacos and inexpensive whole tilapia plate. Not as well run as the La Paloma in Richardson or Dallas, whom I would give 4 stars.

The wife and I walked in to a very yellow and orange dining room. It was interesting and we could already tell it was going to be good. We were told to sit where ever we wanted to. At first the music was WAY too loud but the waiter/hostess/jack of all trades asked if it was too loud and then quickly turned it down. The chips were good, kind of a thin but not paper thin. The salsa was interesting. Not typical Tex-Mex tomato-y salsa but a smoky, peppery flavor. We each had the taco plate. I ordered the pollo, carnitas, and barbacoa. The pollo was a little dry but over-all they were all good choices. The wife had pastor, carnitas and a beef. Her favorite was the beef but she didn’t care for the carnitas. They were all served in fresh corn tortillas with rice, refried beans and limes and radishes. The server brought 2 bottles of different salsa, one tasted like a tomatillo/jalepeno salsa and the other had a chipolte flavor. Both were good. The rice was a little over cooked but still good and the beans were excellent, clearly not from a can! This was real mexican food, not for those looking for a Tex-Mex fill-in for OTB. Hope you like yellow, but if you do this place is awesome!
