I opened my business in the spring of 2011 with the intention of providing customers a service company they can develop a personal relationship with.

I am not just the owner of Rock Solid, but also the operator. When Rock Solid comes to your home or business it’s the beginning of a personal relationship with me. I have worked in the HVAC industry almost 11 years now and have seen the different ways in which businesses are ran. I understand that most people desire a service man whom they are familiar with and trust. Based on that fact, I answer the phone, run the service calls and lead my new equipment installs.

Our system started making a burning smell at about 3 am. I left messages with several services hoping to get someone out asap so I’d miss as little work as possible. When no one called me back by 8:30, I called these guys. Rock Solid got Shawn out by 9 am after I got an answer on the first call. He was extremely personable and professional, quickly diagnosed the issue (burnt out fan motor), explained the difference between going with an after market or brand specific motor, left to get the part. He came back in a very timely fashion, got the new part installed, and I was able to get on with my day. I’d recommend these guys in a heartbeat. Not that I’m 100% versed in the costs of HVAC work, the pricing seemed very reasonable.
Also, as a side note, as a woman I have found that many service providers (intentionally or otherwise) speak differently to me about the work they’re doing or what’s wrong than they would to a man. Shawn didn’t do this. He used technical terms, showed me the inside of our heater, and walked me through step by step so that I’d know what he did. Definitely appreciated that.

John came on New Year’s Day within an hour of calling. Very honest, checked things and got it going. Initially suspected bigger problem however turned out that to be not the case, no attempt to upsale; gave good tips; just charged service charge and also agreed for no service charge if Furnace fails for gas valve problem. Best honest HVAC man, highly recommended.

last night our heater went out. We knew already what the problem was, the circuit board needed replacing. I saw that Rock Solid was open til midnight, so I called around 10:35 pm. Within 10 min, John had called and we made an apt for someone to come out the next day between 10 – 11 am. Today, Sean came to our house around 9:50am. He was very nice, personable and went right up to see what was going on. He explained what we needed, and how much it would be right up front. He left to get the part, and once he returned, he finished the job in 20 min tops. He made sure everything was working, cleaned some old parts and was done. No talk about replacing anything else (our house is almost 15 yrs old), just came and fixed what need to be fixed. Our house is warm again and we are very satisfied customers. We will definitely be calling them in the future and be recommending them as well to friends and family. Sean was also very nice to our dog! Which is always a BIG plus! :)

Solid indeed.
Last month the heater would not blow hot air at my in-​laws house. Called on a Sunday night, left message. Within 15 minutes I had two texts — one from the owner and one from Sean.
Sean arrived right on time Monday AM. Checked everything out and sure enough, everything started working OK overnight before he arrived. He checked out the system, explained everything he was doing while I observed and came to the conclusion there was nothing at all he could do.
I was charged the flat service fee and nothing more. Took down his # should we need them in the future.

I had Rock Solid out a few months ago for a system check and tune up. Went really well and they did find a minor issue which was easily taken care of.
Last couple of days, with the temps dropping a bit, I noticed the heater wasn’t providing anything hot. Just some nice cold blown air. So I called them, expecting an appointment for a day or two.
Nope, they were able to have Sean come over within 90 minutes of my call and he was on the issue quick. Again, was a small adjustment with the burner.
Nice that the heat is working again.

Quick schedule, excellent service, honest opinions. I had another technician that tried to sell new HVAC system by creating a scare. Sean looked into my systems and provided unbiased opinion on the status, tuned up, and and recommended a repair which needed to be done. My systems are functioning normally now. Highly recommend Rock Solid!

Rock Solid came through once again! We tested our heater (before the real cold arrives) and it wasn’t working, so the first thing we did was contact Rock Solid with our issue. We found John on Unilocal.I called him and he answered and was very genuine. Texted my address and we agreed on a time. He followed up and showed up. He found the issue with my AC and fixed it. He gave us some great tips on our system how to save money. Hands down the one to call. He’s honest and his work was impressive. He seems to keep busy but made a schedule and kept it with me.

Well, we recently moved to McKinney and were looking for well-​reviewed A/​C specialists. We saw that Rock Solid seemed like it fit the bill. (I now wish I had noticed how many reviewers had only reviewed this and nothing else… very suspicious) So I called and spoke with John. After somewhat rudely explaining that they were just too swamped to take care of our non-​emergency problem (our upstairs A/​C wasn’t working correctly), that he would call me in a week. I said I understood and said OK. I guess «non-​emergency» is not total A/​C loss. Ok I get that.
We waited. He never called. After a month I called Danny Slayton, who is amazing and I HIGHLY recommend him! Anyway, after 2 months I finally texted John again wondering why he never did call back. He texted me back to get a hold of his partner. I said no thanks, but we took care of it already. Not professional, period. No apology. Nothing.
However, I can’t say enough good things about Danny Slayton who wasn’t rude at all, was incredibly professional, and handled the issues without delay or problem!

I am so very happy with John at Rock Solid. My AC broke on one of the hottest days this year. Not only did John make a point to check on my AC after my late day frantic call. He took care of getting everything fixed without any interruption to me. I had just completed my first treatment of chemo and was feeling a little distress. I’ve known about Rock Solid since racing against John out at Erwin park during the summer series. Today was the first time to use them and the experience was perfect — except being I had to call them in the first place with an A/​C not working. Sean called back w/​n minutes and said he would be there after his current call. Sean showed up w/​n the hour, diagnosed our A/​C with a bad capacitor and had it replaced w/​n 1.5hrs of my first contact. Stand up guy and stand up company. Highly recommended.

A/​C went out and John was on top of it before any of the other guys even called me back. His tech, Sean, showed up on time and couldn’t have been nicer or more professional. Turned out to be the blower motor, like I suspected, and Sean went out of his way to make sure the new one fit properly and everything was cleaned. Even checked my freon levels and compressor. These guys are great and you can’t beat their rates. I won’t bother calling anyone else in the future.

Awesome service, highly recommend.
We got a quote from another company to fix our [perfectly working] AC unit that was very suspect (they used all kinds of scare tactics like telling us our AC would ‘blow up’ by the end of the summer). John came out that same day after hours, despite having a full schedule. He told us the other company was wrong, and our coolant level was fine (in other words, the other company flat-​out lied about the unit being broken). He did find a weak capacitor, but that was the only issue, very minor. He literally saved us thousands of dollars.
There is no way I will call anyone else but Rock Solid for AC/​heating repair again. Thanks again John!

I’m not surprised that John has been called a super hero in other reviews. He just came to my rescue when my AC started blowing hot air while I was busy getting ready to list my house for sale. Cold air blowing in less than an hour. He always takes my call; on tax day, no less!
Reasonable, punctual and not afraid to be honest. Rock Solid has my business and referral for life.
