Food is great tasting, freshly cooked and service is great. I have made it a regular place to go

Really good food! Very fresh. I had the oyster mushroom and beef. Hot and sour soup is one of my go to’s and this one is great!

First time visit and everything was fantastic! Can’t speak highly enough. I love Chinese food and everything here was delicious. Highly recommend trying the dumplings. They’re larger than usual, obviously fresh, and extremely tasty. You can see the fragile chopped meat and veggies; no mystery fillings. General Tso’s chicken was very light and fresh, sauce super flavorful. Hubby tried the hand pulled noodles, spicy noodle soup and a pork bun all of which looked and smelled amazing. Service was quick and very friendly.

Upon my arrival to the restaurant I opened the door and once inside I noticed many people of Asian decent. Great sign, as the probability that they know good chinese food better than me is pretty good. I ordered the chicken chow mien, shrimp fried rice and Won Ton soup, and was surprised how great all of it was! This is my go to place for Chinese food, as the service was fantastic and the food was Outstanding!

Spicy beef braised noodle soup is delicious and you can get a side order of meat bun with it! This is our first time eating here. The server was prompt and knowledgeable. We will come here again!

I have been wanting to go here for a long time and it’s just been waiting in my bookmarks for forever! I finally decided to pick up Chinese food on the way home from work one night so I went here. The reviews made it sound amazing so I expected a lot more upscale restaurant. When I walked in it looked exactly like every other strip mall Chinese place I’ve ever been to. However, the service was definitely better than most. I was greeted right away and everyone was very friendly and attentive. I though the food was ok but not much better than most Chinese places. We got vegetable lo mein, general Tso chicken, a beef bun, and hot and sour soup. The soup just tasted like black pepper. Everything else was ok. Not amazing enough to make this my primary source of Chinese food but good enough that I’ll go back after trying some others in the area. I do like that they hand make their noodles and there are some other dishes on the menu that look really good. So we will see how next time goes.

This place was surprisingly excellent! Who knew you could get authentic Chinese in the sticks of McKinney, TX? We had the big bowl hand-pulled noodles with Lamb, and they tasted exactly like the dish I had in Qinghai province a decade ago. Hand pulled noodles are made to order and you can see the lady making them from the dining area. The spicy beef noodle soup was also a delight. A little on the salty side, but very flavorful. The meat bun(Spicy Lamb) was excellent. I don’t care for celery normally, but I think it actually worked in the lamb bun. We’ll definitely be back!

Decided to check this place out on a whim with my mom. It’s a small place but very clean with lots of sunlight in the day time. The waitress was very nice and informative too. We shared the cream cheese rangoon which was nice and crispy on the outside, warm and creamy on the inside just like it should be! I ordered the kung pao shrimp with fried rice with egg drop soup. The soup was surprisingly rich and I really liked it. The kung pao shrimp was not super spicy which was nice because you could adjust the spiciness to your liking at the table. The shrimp was large and cooked perfectly. I will definitely be going back to try some other dishes!

First time here although I drive by all the time. Started off with Hot & Sour Soup which was flavorful and full of the usual ingredients. I ordered Shrimp Fried Rice after reading another review and it was plentiful with perfectly cooked shrimp, A LOTOFSHRIMP! What I really appreciated was the absence of an excessive amount of oil! I will definatlely be back and made sure to pick up a To Go menu for call ahead pick ups !

Went back again to retry the General’s Chicken and Hot and Sour Soup. These are my standards for testing Chinese restaurants. Both were very good, and probably the best I’ve had in a long while. Again there were several Oriental families or groups eating in side. Reminded me of eating off the beaten path in San Francisco. Very good food for a great price!

Let’s face it. Chinese food in Dallas is largely a vote for mediocrity. There’s little places everywhere, all serving the same«meh» food, and yet we continue to get it because we didn’t feel like pizza that night and wanted delivery. In McKinney, your choices are even slimmer because we are in the suburbs and delivery sites don’t venture up here. The Red Lantern is trying to buck that complacent attitude of serving mediocre Chinese delivery, and I think they are doing a fine job! We had delivered an order of beef stuffed buns, chicken potstickers, veggie lo mein, and the staple: general tso’s chicken. The stuffed buns were a curious thing, here I was expecting perhaps something akin to Dim Sum, but what I got was more like a stuffed pita pocket. Once I got over that, the stuffing was actually pretty tasty; full of braised beef and fresh peppers. The potstickers were fine, the only thing noteworthy is I appreciated they offered them with different meats(Katie doesn’t like pork unless it’s bacon). I tend toward general tso’s chicken as my barometer, and the version from this place was significantly better than other places surrounding our neighborhood. The sauce was not too thick and sickly sweet, rather it actually attempted some spice. The chicken was not over-breaded and the chicken actually tasted good and not of poor quality like so many of us are trained to expect. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised as to the good food from here(the delivery driver, after realizing it was our first time ordering, even said to expect good things), and we’ll definitely be making this our default Chinese delivery option if it continues to be this satisfying!

Unilocalers you have let me down! Went for lunch and got two soup and pockets sandwiches for $ 20. I got the spicy beef soup with pork pocket and daughter got the chicken meatball soup and lamb pocket. Nothing was good. Daughter also got tea and after she dropped off pot she asked if I would like an extra cup like she wasn’t going to charge for it since there is a pot of tea on the table. SPICYBEEFSOUP — see picture; no meat — just throw away beef parts, noodles, broth with one piece of bokchoy. Ate maybe half just because but couldn’t take another bite, took a couple of bites of my PORKPOCKET — just tasteless so I put that aside as well. CHICKENMEATBALLSOUP — broth had no favor, I mean it tasted like hot water with cabbage cooked in it. Meatballs had a funky taste to them. The LAMBPOCKET was cold, the green pepper uncooked, just a waste of money. They charged me for 2 teas — $ 4 each. Our lunch $ 30 for 2 — I will never go back.

OMG! This is the best Chinese food I have ever had in my life! First off if you go in and find other Asian people eating there you hope it will be good! Oh, and was it ever. I first started with the egg drop soup. It was a perfectly seasoned broth with delicate egg pieces. I was not starving so I had the steamed dumplings. They were AMAZING! These were not your frozen tasteless wontons. It was a delicious homemade stuffed dumpling. My son had the shrimp fried rice. I know it is not an authentic Chinese dish, but it was lick you dinner plate good. It was better than Benihana’s fried rice… yes, that good! It also had huge pieces of shrimp in it. The owner/chef came out and asked if we were enjoying our food. She was so fun to talk to and she seemed to genuinely want feedback to improve her restaurant. I really liked how much pride she had in her food! She also shared with me that many people complained about long ticket times. News flash ***It takes longer to prepare meals from scratch*** if you want amazing food it takes longer! If you want already prepared meals sitting in warmers go somewhere else. I will be back and next time I will have an appetite and will try more authentic dishes.

I’m a huge fan of authentic Asian soups like Phở, Thai noodle soups, and Ramen(not packaged, but at an actual restaurant). I really liked the Braised Beef Noodle soup. Such a nice change from the instant Phở found at several local restaurants. The soup here had a rich broth that didn’t need seasoning. I can’t wait to try other dishes. Anyone who likes authentic Asian food knows they need to go where Asians actually eat, not at Panda. There were several Chinese patrons, which made me feel more confident in the food. Certainly worth a try.
