Hillary Legrain and the First Savings Mortgage team were absolutely incredible (in addition to Hillary, I worked with Jackie Rafferty and Carmin Newman – I imagine there were many others behind the scenes). As a first time home buyer, Hillary talked me through the process and patiently answered any and all of my questions. She and her team clearly communicated all needs, responded to questions incredibly quickly, and managed the loan process efficiently and with expertise. It became clear to me why other actors in the real estate industry respect Hillary and First Savings Mortgage. I had to travel out of the country in between putting in an offer and closing. As a result, I was a bit anxious about making sure I had all of the paperwork submitted quickly and at times, I moved too quickly. Carmin Newman, who works with Hillary, was so patient and reassuring. She continued to answer, what felt to me like silly questions after closing. It was a pleasure to work with them.

Worst place ever. We worked with a lender named Daniel and he screwed us over at the end twice. Don’t go to him.

Great customer service. They have a wonderful team of professional lenders that are very knowledgeable about the different loan products. Thank you for your great work.

So far so good! Application was very quick, rate was great, and follow through has been consistent. Had a few questions on Family Trust items and got knowledgeable answers and suggstions. Our closing date is still a few weeks out so I will update if anything changes…

Our experience with First Savings in McLean was an embarrassment for them. I had expected to provide large quantities of documentation to get my home loan, however what I didn’t expect was for the lender to be rude, unprofessional, and unable to communicate what was needed.
After a week of emailing back and forth, where I repeatedly asked for clarification on what documents were required, i received a phone call at my office with a rude and unprofessional lender who raised her voice at me and explained that «it was unacceptable to expect her to respond to my emails within 24 hours.» She then went on a tirade about how busy she is and how she doesn’t have time to tell me what she needs but I needed to supply documentation ASAP. After 20 minutes of her yelling into the phone in an unprofessional manner, I finally was able to gather enough information to go to my bank who was able to provide me document. During our 30 – 40 min conversation, of which should have taken a simple email, she failed to listen to my concerns or address any of my questions and continuously raised her voice and told me I didn’t understand how busy she was. I expressed my opinion that her staffing issues wasn’t my concern and she continued with excuse after excuse for her incompetence. Once all documentation was provided her customer service did not improved; nor did they confirm they had all information required. I feel that I had to work harder then them to ensure I met my close date and the only reason my close was met was because I continuously followed up with them which resulted in more rude conversations where they complained about their staffing issues.
Additionally, we were required to send documentation via email with no concern for security of our personal documents.
I only used First Savings because they were recommended by my Realtor, I was so appalled by their service, I suggested he refrain from recommending her again because she made a very stressful situation significantly worse due to her horrific customer service and incompetence. I will never use this branch of First Savings again for any financing needs and I would recommend that others avoid them as well.

First Savings was one of the lenders that my condo had recommended. Using one of the preferred lenders and the recommended title company enabled me to get a lower interest rate (this was back in ’06). Working with Gregg B. and Rick K was extremely easy and made the process of buying a first home quite smooth. Since I’ve financed with them, my mortgage has been sold off to Countrywide/​Bank of America, but occasionally I still get emails from First Savings regarding refi options. Gregg has been easy to communicate with in terms of what those options are and what the rates look like.
