James Ronis, DDS

As per my last review nothing has changed 5 stars all the way. They squeezed me in on short notice and took care of a problem I was having. Kudos to the whole staff.

I called Dr. Ronis’s office in May to make an appointment. When I spoke with his receptionist, she acted like she was doing me a favor by letting me come in three months later. I found her attitude a little annoying, but I assumed it was worth it to wait because Dr. Ronis sounds like a wonderful dentist from the reviews I read here. It turns out that I will not have the chance to find out — I went in for my appointment today to find out it had been canceled or moved because Dr. Ronis is on vacation. The receptionist, consistent with her previous attitude, acted like it was my fault for coming in because she would have called me if I had an appointment (which I could not have known since I am a new patient). If you’re an existing patient, I’m sure this place is great. But if you’re new, it’s not worth the hassle.

Dr. Ronis is a great professional, gentle and very friendly. He is, by definition, a great guy and an excellent professional.
He talks upfront and takes you through every step of the process and, unlike other professionals, he does not recommend unnecessary work, so you do not feel he’s digging into your pocket. On the contrary, he tends to minimize what you consider to be big issues and makes you feel so comfortable.
In a few occasions he has referred us to other professionals he vouches for. In all cases, we have been highly satisfied.
Also, his staff are very friendly and professional.

I’m picky about dentists, and I am telling you there is no better dentist than Dr. Ronis. Über competent and friendly, too, he always takes the time to explain procedures in great detail, never showing any impatience. You always feel like you are his only patient of the day and his dear friend, too! You also feel like you are not overpaying. He is also very generous in donating toothbrushes to the homeless shelter I work with, which is icing on the cake for me! He’s a good soul who happens to be a fantastic dentist.

I cannot speak to Dr. Ronis’ skills as a dentist, but I just wanted to take a moment to submit a review about his character. I called the office this morning and left a voice mail noting that I wanted to know which insurance they accept and whether they are taking new patients. Dr. Ronis called me back himself (explaining he’d let his staff go home early for the Memorial Day weekend) and then proceeded to explain the insurance to me. He explained that they do not take my particular insurance and advised me that although I could likely get some out-​of-​network coverage, it would still probably cost me more than going to an in-​network provider. He told me there’s a difference between an office accepting insurance (offering to bill an insurance company) and being in-​network (actually being well covered by that insurance) and that not all offices will be straight about this difference unless you ask them directly. I really appreciated him taking the time on a Friday before a holiday weekend to call me to tell me that I probably shouldn’t go to him because it might cost me more money! I wish I did have the insurance he accepts because he sounds like a great person. If you’re looking for a dentist and he is in-​network for you (or you don’t care about insurance), I’d highly recommend you consider him.

After a life time of visiting dentists I have finally found one I trust to do the right thing and not push for unnecessary services and procedures. Beyond that, Dr. Ronis is very sensitive to patient needs and has a wonderful way of explaining procedures and discussing issues.

This place is a gem. I used to pay hundreds out of pocket each year and drive almost an hour each way for dental cleanings before finding Dr. Ronis because that’s how good my last dentist’s office was, and my hygenist here (Krista) has been just as good, if not better. On top of that, EVERYONE here is super friendly, and the two times I have been here, they have gone beyond expectations to accomodate me, answer questions, etc. This office is in a whole different league than typical in-​network dental practices, and I cannot believe they accept insurance. I would come here even if they didn’t.

I moved out of NoVa and sold my car, but I actually rent one for my bi-​annual teeth cleanings with Dr. Ronis’s staff. I’ve recommended him to everyone I know.

i’m going back to Dr. Ronis for an evaluation, treatment plan, and begin some work — he seems like a good chap and is responsive and informative,
but I want to see if the work holds up down the road.

Same here! Send all four of my kids to him (and my husband and I as well). He’s been wonderful with the kids, who were intimidated by the screaming and bells and whistles of the ‘kids dentistry places.” He’s got a great, gentle demeanor, explaining as he goes.

Dr. Ronis is, in addition to being an excellent dentist, one of the nicest guys out there. I’ve been seeing him ever since I was a kid and when I moved back into the area I went back to his office. I’m extremely squeamish around needles and had to have extensive oral surgery as a teen. Despite not being a pediatric dentist he was always great about my fears and never made me feel stupid while always ensuring I was comfortable.
To the point: My housemate needed a root canal and the dentist he was trying to see kept flaking on him (out sick, on vacation etc). My housemate was in terrible pain and couldn’t sleep. I suggested he call Dr. Ronis. Even though Dr. Ronis wasn’t part of my housemate’s insurance plan they gave him an appointment the next day at 8am. They saw him wanted to treat him right away, but an out-​of-​network root canal would have been extremely expensive. Instead, Dr. Ronis and his secretary spent thirty minutes finding my housemate a dentist who was both accepted his insurance plan and whose skill Dr. Ronis vouched for personally.
