Post Tysons Corner

Stay away from them. Seriously. Stay away.
Post requires 60 days written notice to end your lease on an already agreed upon date (wat?). I gave them verbal notice ~80 days in advance, then gave them written notice 50 days before our lease was set to expire. They extended my lease by 10 days BECAUSE REASONS and are charging me for those days when I obviously would never want or need them. Quite predatory IMO.
I looked up Virginia renting laws and read that written notice is not required by law and verbal notice is sufficient (55 – 248.6 of Virginia Residential Landlord and Tenant Act). I showed the leasing office the law and they refused to read it or acknowledge what I was saying and instead said they’ve got EXPERIENCE and KNOW WHAT THEY’RE DOING. Cool! They also said that leases can overwrite laws and rights established by laws (seems unlikely?).
BUT YOU GOTTA READ YOUR LEASE, BRO!!!
Here’s the thing: that’s true. But from what I understand I actually shouldn’t be on the hook here by law, and I’m entitled to weasel my way through this loophole just as Post is entitled to write predatory leases designed to rip off their nice residents.
I’m not a lawyer (LDO), and I’d be happy to hear from one of Post’s to tell me why I’m wrong. Currently, nobody at Post will really acknowledge anything that I’m saying.
So, to conclude: at best, Post is an extremely predatory and unethical company that really, REALLY wants to rip off their tenants. At worst, they’re ignoring the law and wrongfully taking my money. If you value your money, stay away from them. If you don’t value your money, go rent one of their fine apartments!!! The choice is yours!!!

I have lived at Post Tysons for over a year and I renewed my lease because I like my place and it is in a great location. It’s also nice to have a washer and dryer in the apartment. I am paying more than twice what I used to pay before I rented here and the rent increased this year so minus 2 stars for the pricing and smaller space compared to my last apartment. However, I choose to live here because the complex is near 495 exits and 66 is easily accessed. I like and prefer the garden style apartments here over the high rises. The staff is usually helpful and prompt in responding to my needs/​questions.
There is a tennis court, pool, and gym but none are very big. I noticed lately how there are consecutive days when there are no cups for water or coffee in the gym. Another thing I dislike is how they shovel snow and push it up against your car so that you have to dig yourself out of your parking space, something I never had to do at any other apartment in various states with snow. It makes me wonder where my rent is going. I do appreciate the occasional socials, free sports tickets, beautiful trees, and spring flowers… I guess that’s where the rent is going.

I don’t understand the bad reviews. The maintenance team is extremely helpful and usually very responsive. The location is great and convenient to the beltway and 66. The negatives are the price (it is overpriced and a lot of units are empty as such) and the break ins of cars. We’ve been here for 2 years and have only had one bad experience.

I have lived on the property for two years. My first year here I lived in a one bedroom apartment on the third floor. At the time, the office staff was great and I had an overall good experience. When my husband and I found out we were expecting, we moved to a two bedroom on the first floor. Big mistake! Since we have moved, we have had several issues with our dryer, circuit breaker, toilets, and air conditioner. The issues are continuous and never really fixed. Although maintenance usually comes in a timely manner they never seem to fix anything. As a result of water leaking from the air conditioner, the rug in my four week old daughters room got soaked. It now smells damp and moldy. We had to remove everything from the closet. I am beyond disappointed and upset that this has happened. I would not recommend living here.

The Good: The draw to this place is simple: location. It is within walking distance to Tyson’s Galleria Mall, and a plethora of restaurants, shopping and grocery stores are within a 2 – 3 minute drive. If you are unfortunate enough to have to take public transportation all the way into D.C., the commuter buses to the metro stations are literally across the street. Otherwise access to the beltway and the Dulles Greenway are less than 5 minutes away (longer if you prefer to skip the tolls).
The Bad part 1: I stayed there for six months and within that 6 month period I had two major issues come up with my apartment. One was a leak from another apartment that slowly dripped into the small built-​in storage closet attached to each apt. Accessible from the balcony, the storage rooms are great (and you’ll likely need them because the apartments are rather small). Unfortunately I didn’t notice the leak until mold spores began to appear on the bedroom wall shared with the exterior storage room. When I walked out onto the balcony and opened the storage room door I was greeted by a scene out of a horror movie. I half expected that Jigsaw character from those SAW movies to pop out of there. Black and greenish mold was covering the walls and most of the materials I was keeping in there. Fortunately the only thing I had in there were cardboard boxes to use for my eventual move. If I had kept anything of value in there it was have likely been ruined.
The Bad part 2: One morning as I was shaving in the bathroom. The apartment had a huge (a little bigger than a large sized pizza box) vent/​grate in the ceiling right over the bathroom sink. Well that particular morning the vent decided to free itself from whatever had been holding it in place. It crashed down onto the sink seconds after I walked away, leaving a bunch of rotted wood and insulation scattered on the floor. It appeared once again that some sort of long-​term leak was the culprit. It looked like liquid had been slowly seeping into the area around the vent and eventually it all just rotted out and fell away. Had that thing landed on my head, I would have been a tad more perturbed than I had otherwise been. It was at this point I decided to start photo documenting the various little maintenance related events in my apartment.
I have to say that both situations were taken care of relatively promptly, even though the mold issue required a couple of follow-​up calls to impress a since of urgency upon the management. Coupled with the fact that the appliances in my unit looked to be about 20 years old, and the walls had been painted over so many times that it would take a samurai sword to get to the drywall beneath, the value mathematics on this place do not quite add up. All of this for an apartment priced at a monthly rent of about $ 2,000 a month for a one bedroom place.
For me, at the time, commuting time and convenience to local restaurants was a major priority. But this place has SERIOUS downsides. I would not likely stay there again unless I REALLY had to due to commuting issues. And even then I’d probably choose to camp out in the woods instead because old, rusty vents seldom fall from trees.

Why am I forced to give them any stars? This place is disgusting. Smells like curry, someone took a dump in the elevator in building 1500, and the common areas are always FILTHY. They’ve been doing LOUD construction for months. The construction crew they hired ransacked our apartment with no notice and got drywall all over our clothes and other belongings. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Poor management means absolutely no communication in the office. They’ll leave a note on your door on a Friday saying you need to be out of your apartment the following Tuesday for the entire day, only to be woken up at the crack of dawn on a Monday with an entire plumbing crew ready to tear your stuff up. 0 stars.

I’ve been living at Post Tysosn Corner for the past 2 years, currently starting my 3^rd and last year here. I chose these apartments based on their location (my commute to work is less than 5 miles) and stayed in the apartment for as long as I have solely due to the location. There are some positives and some negatives. Positives first: As I mentioned, location location location — these apartments rent themselves due to the prime real estate they are situated on. There are amenities such as pool, gym, tennis courts and common areas, all of which seem to be properly maintained (although you do get charges a $ 200 fee annually for these). Parking is available pretty much all of the time.
Negatives: These apartments are old, plain and simple. A lot of the units are currently being ‘upgraded’ with nicer finishes, so if you are a new resident you will likely be moving into an apartment with new cabinets, carpet, etc. However, you know the saying «you can put lipstick on a pig but it’s still a pig»? That’s kind of what this is akin to. The pipes, the AC units, the walls, everything about the apartment is still old. My point is twofold: 1) you may still run into issues with items breaking inside the apartment, and those things will require painful and prolonged repair as they are not cosmetic, but rather structural, and 2) the rent you are charged is up there with other units in the Tysons area which were built much later, are much newer, and in much better condition. When doing your price point comparison, make sure you keep that in mind. Once you are here be prepared for extremely steep rent hikes annually (10−12%). And no, management will not work with you because they simply don’t have to — like I said above, the apartments do rent themselves due to their location. And as far as management goes, I hope for your sake your only dealings with them involve picking up packages delivered to the leasing office. God forbid should you have an issue or a concern requiring their attention — the general manager and her minion possess extremely limited customer service skills and will do anything in their power to convince you that you are wrong. Finally, as far as safety — I think the apartments are pretty safe, there are also a couple of officers living in the community, which adds to the sense of security. However, during my time here, I have been notified by management on more than one location regarding robberies etc. which took place at the community. It is a garden style community so some of that is to be expected.
Overall, it’s a place to live. If it wasn’t for the proximity to my work, I would be out of here in a heart beat. I would not recommend these apartments to a friend because there is simply nothing here that distinguishes it from the competition, and plenty of things to make the living experience quite miserable.

I used to live here and didn’t really like it much.
1.) Very noisy — the front desk lady told me it’s not loud at all, but I can pretty much hear everything near me. People walking, talking, shouting, running, cooking, cleaning, etc. Very annoying.
2.) Bipolar staffs? — I visited the main office maybe like 3 – 4 times (the entire year). My 1^st time (when I signed the lease), they were super nice. 2^nd & 3^rd time for something to be fixed (bathroom, kitchen, etc.) they sounded like they don’t have time for me plus it took forever for someone to come.
3.) Parking — I was told I would never have a problem finding a space in 1525 building, however, they let random ppl park inside (even though I paid for this garage) so I pretty much had to park OUTSIDE several times.
4.) AIr Conditioner was freaking messed up. 1 room was super cold, 1 room was super hot. I contacted like 5 times to get them to look at it, but they never did.

I used to live at Post Tysons Corner, and I had a good time here.
That isn’t without some complaints, though, but that is to be expected of any apartment complex in my opinion.
Pros: Great location — close to toll road, 495, 7. Right off of International Drive, and across the street from the West Park bus station. Staff is friendly, and repairs are timely and quick. One instance, we were locked out, and they made us keys on the spot. I also like the tennis and basketball courts, and there is a gym on site with cable TV. There is a Harris Teeter nearby, and is walkable (10 min or so).
Cons: I had a bug situation with my apartment, but maybe that was because I lived on the first floor. Appliances are a bit dated as well; our oven was quite old, and it wouldn’t bake our food evenly. The walls are a bit thin — I could hear basically everything, from barking dogs to footsteps from upstairs. Overall, the apartment itself had a very 80’s feeling to it and didn’t feel very modern.
I liked Post Tysons, but had to move because of my new job. Also, their rent prices keep skyrocketing as well. I would definitely give this place a look if you are interested in living right in the heart of Tysons Corner.
