History
Established in 2007.
Armed with only a fervent passion for improving lives through fitness, a training certification, and the support of her family, Sarah Walls founded Strength & Performance Training, Inc. Our beginnings were humble. The first official SAPT training session was conducted at a county park for 6 young athletes — we had yet to establish a physical address! Just 3-months later, we opened the doors to our first facility, and haven’t looked back.
Along the way the rewards have been great. Whether through furthering our trainees’ sport achievements, academic accomplishments, confidence building, and so much more; or even the more quiet victories of helping our coaches and interns reach milestones of their own, it is a privilege and a joy to be a part of the journey.
Now we’re looking toward the future as we strive to see our vision fulfilled: People of all ages, abilities, and resources will have access to, appreciation for, and engagement in regular physical fitness training.
Meet the Manager
Steve R.
Manager
Coach Steve is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) holding a degree in Science of Exercise and Nutrition from Virginia Tech.
Originally working as a Physical Therapist Aid and pursuing a full-time career in physical therapy, he realized the number of injuries seen in clinics could be drastically reduced if both athletes and regular folks alike received intelligent strength training and proper injury risk reduction strategies beforehand. He first began his pursuit of helping athletes achieve healthy, high-performing bodies through volunteering with the Virginia Tech Strength and Conditioning staff, in which he assisted in training the Baseball, Wrestling, Swimming, and Softball teams.
Ever since, Steve has maintained an incessant desire to improve his services to athletes and non-athletes alike by continually researching the most effective ways to provide quality training, and gathering experience wherever possible.
