Izzy’s Treasure Chest & Ice Cream Parlor

Izzy’s is kind of hidden from the road when you are traveling along Highway 58 (The Crooked Road) to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Look for the name «Cockram» written really big on the side of one of the buildings and you will have found the Cockram Mill Complex and Izzy’s is around back. This is a classic antique store where the owners invite you to make an offer and they will make a deal. The antiques are honest-​to-​goodness antiques and not yard sale fare. I was especially interested in an old phonograph and the records that went with it and a plant stand (that I might still go back and get, if it’s still there). In the back of the building, they have an old-​fashioned ice cream counter. Nothing fancy here, just «real».
I highly recommended stopping by on your way through to see if there is anything that appeals to you. It’s also an excellent before– or after– lunch stop, being right next door to The Crooked Road Café.
