2 Brothers Painting & Carpentry

Very friendly and agreeable frontman, «brother» V. Fonseca (never saw brother #2).
Hired to replace clapboard, shingles and trim then paint home.
Various workers, of questionable experience levels, show up at indefinite intervals to complete work in a piecemeal fashion. Almost none of the workers speak/​understand English and the owner VF seemed to have a somewhat selective comprehension (ergo get everything in writing). Although the initial estimate and the contract specifically stated the work to be done and the products to be used, inferior products were used instead – of course leaving more money in the contractor’s pocket. For example he said he was using Azek as a composite board, yet used much less expensive board from Home Depot. Also stated he was using Benjamin Moore paint, I specified a particular type and none of the 5 gallon paint bins listed that type.
So, yes the overall job looks very nice – however I caution anyone considering this company to get everything in writing and to ask for receipts showing the names of the products used because if they promise one thing and deliver another the work is not going to last. As for me, I will probably have to re-​paint sooner than the eight years I was hoping for and perhaps I can find someone to open the windows that these guys painted shut. I will also have to do all of the silicone caulking that they neglected to do around the windows, the trim pieces and where the clapboard meets the front steps… honestly, how could they not know to do this??? I have left several messages by voice mail and sent several text messages requesting a return call, however I have not been contacted in over three weeks. So as far as the «Work guarantee» promise, if they won’;t call me back this soon after the job was completed, I really doubt that I can count on them standing behind anything 6 months to a year form now.
Oh and last but certainly not least, I learned after the job was completed that the company was never insured for the work they were doing on my house! I never called the ins. co. to verify their coverage prior to hiring them; a big lesson in hiring a contractor for me [was my first time]. I’m also still picking up nails, screws and cigarette butts from my yard & driveway! Very unprofessional.
