Founded in 1975 by Ray Scarfo, RANCO Enterprises, Inc. has provided Massachusetts with friendly, reliable, professional heating oil delivery via our sister company Amanda’s Oil, furnace repair and installation, central air conditioning sales service and installation, plumbing services, and other environmental services for residential and commercial customers for over 35 years.

RANCO Enterprises, Inc. is your full service HVAC company, performing hard-to-find services such as oil to gas furnace conversions, retrofit heating and air conditioning systems, and working with contractors or owners to design new custom home comfort systems for small or large buildings, residential and commercial.

From the simplest home oil delivery or water heater replacement, to full-system commercial HVAC design, RANCO is your one-stop resource.

We signed up with Amanda’s oil for auto delivery and have been with them for 2 years. I initially moved because of the great price — but the experience has been perfect. I have worked with many terrible companies in the past — so I know that which I speak of! :-)
They do everything I would expect from an oil company. They send out trucks at just the right frequency — I never worry about running out. My credit card is billed automatically and I get both paper and email receipts. Drivers are competent and polite and treat my property with respect. If I ever have Qs — service via phone/email is prompt and polite. They don’t BS you and don’t offer freebies so they can get you later with ‘gotchas’.
I strongly recommend them.

I am perplexed as to how the woman answering their phone is still gainfully employed. Speaking with her was one of the worst displays of customer service that I have ever experienced. When I called, indicating that I was looking to get my tank refilled, the first words out of her mouth, in an incredibly sassy tone, were «Well, you’re not getting it today.» When I asked her the price for filling our tank, instead of telling me that she could tell me the per gallon price, but couldn’t quote the full amount without knowing the size of the tank, in an indignant tone she replied, «I don’t know how much it is! How am I supposed to know how much it it costs without knowing your tank…» Pausing for a second, she experienced one of her few moments of clarity and gave me the per gallon price.
From there, she continued to act like my standard oil order was the biggest inconvenience that anyone could ever put upon her. Last time I checked answering a phone and taking an order didn’t require the highest level of skill or education. Amanda’s Oil, do yourself a favor and replace this woman. She’s really not doing your business any favors…
Also, giving a customer a window of 6am-5pm for a delivery is ridiculous. You’re not Comcast; you don’t run a monopoly. So don’t act like I can’t buy oil from 10 other companies.

We were a little nervous to sign up for automatic oil delivery from *any* oil company, especially after having been ripped off by a few other local services with bait-and-switch tactics. I wanted to wait until after getting through a full winter with the automatic delivery service before writing this review. Everyone at this place is really very good and reasonable, starting with Nykolette at the office and every driver we have met thus far. They come rain, snow, or shine, and our tank has never slipped below a 20% without them showing up for a delivery. The drivers are really nice guys, and they even tolerate the 15 questions of my curious 6 year old.
Here are some tidbits: If you sign up for automatic delivery and keep a credit card on file for billing purposes, they will give you their discounted rate at 30% off their usual price per gallon. The discounted rate is published on their website every day, and is the lowest one around (with the exception of some sketchy fly-by-night companies). You can also do a budget plan, and they will send you a letter giving you the monthly quote (for a 10 month period) asking if you’d like to sign up for the upcoming winter. We don’t use that option, but it seems reasonable way to pay incrementally and avoid sticker shock when the large fills come in Dec/Jan.
They also offer online ordering if you notice your tank getting low and need an emergency fill-up, which usually comes the next day. Once they’ve done a couple deliveries their computer system does a nice job predicting your oil consumption patterns and scheduling out their deliveries to prevent any mishaps.

Refer to Tom B’s review. Worst customer service we’ve ever experienced. We were laughed at, cursed at, and told they didn’t need/want our business.
The other reviewers didn’t have any hiccups and didn’t have to deal with this company’s scam of leaving without calling to alert you of an issue so you would have to pay an extra $ 150 for a service call. «Manager» Mark doesn’t realize there’s too much competition out there to treat customers this poorly.
The company also operates under name of RANCO Enterprises.

I’ve ordered from a few different oil places in the Medford area and received poor customer service from them. I’m so happy I found Amanda’s Oil! Their customer service is great. They are responsive, friendly, on-time, and you can order online! I’ve had a couple oil deliveries over the last few months from Amanda’s and am happy to have found a reliable oil service company. They even accommodated a last-minute delivery the morning before a blizzard at no extra charge. I was very relieved that they fit me into their busy schedule so I had heat!

Very unhappy with the service. First off, when they delivered the oil, they needed to prime the unit. I was left a note that they could not prime the unit due to no power. So I was left with still no heat. I could not believe that no one called me while the tech was on site. The tech must not have checked throughly because I had to hire a separate electrician who stated that there was nothing wrong with the power to the oil burner. When I called Amanda oil to return and prime the unit (like promised and paid for), I was told that there would be an additional charge. I was outraged. This is a scam and I do not appreciate being overcharged. The receptionist was extremely rude. I asked to speak to a manager and was told that no managers were in the office. I would never use this company again! Be warned to other consumers!

When they mentioned its a family operation on their website, i was a bit worried about running into one of those old-timer (Boston!) types who have no motivation to be better. But the online ordering roped me in. And, i am glad it did!
This is oil delivery that is keeping up with times. No need to have an account or jump through a bunch of hoops to pay someone to sell you something.
In summary:
1. low price
2. efficient ordering
3. prompt/hassle-free delivery
Will recommend them to anyone and buy again from them.

After some pretty horrible experiences with oil companies and their «standard policies» I decided to give Amanda’s a try.
1 — Online ordering for anything is awesome. Being able to load up the site and order my delivery was awesome. The interface is very simple and easy to fill out.
2 — I ordered on Friday morning and with an impending snow storm feared I would run out of oil before my delivery. The site clearly states you must allow 24 hours for delivery and Monday would probably be the date of delivery.
3 — Contrary to some other Unilocalers reviews, Raven (the lady on the phone) is as nice and as cheerful as it gets. She happily explained how the the deliveries work and when mine would be expected. I explained my concern and she advised they would do their best.
4 — I called on Saturday AM to see if my delivery was «on the board». She confirmed it was and they delivered my oil on Saturday without a hitch.
My house is toasty warm and I will definitely use them again. I wish all my fuel experience were this PREMIUM. (badumpum-paaaaaw)

I ordered heating oil from Amanda’s yesterday and they delivered today. I’ve used several other companies but my experience with this one was by far the best. The lady on the phone who took my order was very professional, competent and polite. She asked all the right questions about the intake pipe, etc. to make sure there was no mix up in the delivery of the heating oil. They delivered while I was out which made me a little nervous but they did everything correctly. I will be using them again next time … oh and their prices are great too.

I’m updating my previous review after an AMAZING experience.
I’ve always been a little on edge about calling here, as I always had a bad experience with the woman on the phone being rather unpleasant. But I’m literally floored and amazed with how greatly these guys have improved their customer service. The woman who answers the phone now, I think her name is Robin, but I had terrible reception so I could be completely off– anyways!
She is SO nice. SO SO SO nice. Her voice is pleasant, she was insanely helpful, and managed to get a service call out to our house today! In case no one realize how big of a deal this is, TODAY IS THE BLIZZARD. THEY FILLED MY TANK, AND CAME BACK TO FIX IT THE DAY OF THE BLIZZARD!
I’m eternally grateful and thrilled with these guys!!! I don’t think I’ll ever be able to say enough nice things!!!

Lowest price heating oil around! These guys also post their prices on their website everyday. 5 stars just for being upfront and transparent about pricing. I always hated the calling around to multiple companies to get quotes. I also like the ability to actually make the order online. I had the oil delivered to Brighton but their posted delivery area looks large and covers many cities and towns.

A bunch of crooks! They give you delivery promise dates that can not keep. I tried ordering from them and they gave me the closest delivery date, turns out they just wanted to push said date back. This is a crooked maneuver. Use another company and avoid
