Clevergreen Professional Dry Cleaners

I’ve been using Clevergreen for cleaning and alterations for a while, and I’m generally pleased with the quality of service. Along the lines of what other reviewers have said, it’s not the cheapest around, but it’s more environmentally-​friendly, which makes it worth it for me. Occasionally I have to wait a while for someone to come to the front desk, but that seems to be improving lately. They’ve never lost any of my garments, and they usually have a pretty fast turnaround. In terms of alterations, I had a silk bridesmaids dress taken in and hemmed, and they did a fine job. In all, it’s a good local option.

I hardly ever take the time to review places but the service I received here this week cannot go without warning others. I met with the owner who was kind and pleasant two saturdays ago to get straps put in my dress for a formal event. When I left we agreed on white satin straps and I would pick up the following Saturday. I wanted to leave plenty of time. When I came to pick up, there were teal lace straps on it.(Not so great for covering bra straps and mismatched to the dress) I was polite but said I wanted it redone to what I had originally asked for. The woman looked put out, rolled her eyes, and said no one could get to it until Monday. I said that was fine. I called Monday after not hearing from anyone all day to make sure it was going to be done on time. The lady who answered the phone was so unbelievably rude and condescending, I was so upset when I finally hung up. She kept repeating «WELL WE HAVE TO GO BUY THAT RIBBON» and I kept saying ‘ok but it has to be done before Saturday” and round and round we went for 10 minutes. Finally she said call back Wednesday. It is one thing to be frazzled, its another thing to be downright rude and bitchy on the phone. She even said «Well maybe you should have been clear about what you wanted.» To which I replied «I was. I told the owner I was not sure what work the best for the dress and he said «how about white satin?» and I said «that sounds good» Now, if they didnt have white satin, they should have called or gone out to get some… But instead they put teal lace. Anyway, called today. Owner said I could pick it up today and I was so relieved. I pick it up, the lady was mildly pleasant, paid, and left. Went home and the straps were about 6 – 8 inches too long for my body and did not cover the bra straps at all (I wore the bra when I went to be fitted for the straps).- In fact they were so long that they fell off my shoulders to the side. am absolutely furious. I am now having Chris’ fine tailoring fix it in time for the wedding. They, too, were appalled by the shoddy work and terrible fit. Thankfully, Chris’ tailoring was kind and sympathetic to the fact that now it is a rush.

First off, the dry-​cleaning we had done here was fine. No complaints.
But. Rude, rude service. My husband dropped off a few things we needed for a wedding here. He walked over the day before they were due to be ready, just to see if they were done early. He was met with «they’ll be done when I said they’ll be done.»
The next day when I went to pick up the clothes, the store was open, but there was no one at the counter. I rang the bell several times, called out, and a few other customers entered the store behind me.
Finally, I walked to the back to see if someone was there (my thought being, what if someone is hurt?!) Finally a woman poked her head up and immediately yelled at me «for being in a private area.»
I’m not asking to be treated like a Queen. But basic decency is something I look for in a local business. With so many options in the Somerville area, we’ll take our business somewhere else that treats us with a little respect and cordiality.

Top notch cleaning and service every time! Love this place and love that it is «GREEN». When I go in there it smells healthy and so do my clothes when they come back!!! I will support any green company I can and also this is a family owned small business, another great reason to support it!

I’ve been going to Fashad at Clevergreen for a few years now and, as the four star rating would indicate… I’m a fan. Their prices aren’t the lowest around, but this is a great example that you get what you pay for; I’ve yet to have an issue with stains not coming out or clothes coming back from Clevergreen smelling of chemicals like you had them cleaned by a Halliburton fracking operation. The one time there was a mixup with my clothes (actually, I think it was the first time I brought anything to this cleaner…) they went the extra mile to make sure I got my clothes back as quickly as possible, apologized for the inconvenience, and took the charge off my bill.
On the negative side, some of the comments I’ve read about the customer service from folks other than the owner (Fashad) aren’t totally wrong. Sometimes when you walk in, there’s no one at the counter and you have to wait for someone to come from the back of the shop… and that someone doesn’t always seem too pleased.
When I weigh the pros and the cons, I think the pros win here. I’ve had so many challenges dealing with other cleaners that I just don’t get from these folks. Granted, they’re not perfect, but I think they’re sincere in wanting to do a good job and, yes, the screaming Liberal in me loves feeling like I’m doing something good by working with an environmentally friendly dry cleaner, so… maybe I’m a little biased…

unprofessional woman who acts annoyed that she has to walk all the way from the back where she was doing nothing to come and help a customer. I like the owner when he is there but it is hard to keep coming and being treated like crap. moving on…

This is my go to dry cleaner in the area. The staff is very well trained and excellent at making recommendations for different service.
I dry clean all my shirts, suits, sweaters, and ties. Everything comes out great!
Environmentally friendly services are the bonus! Give this place a chance to earn your business.

They guys have always done a great job with my dry-​cleaning. Its a bit more expensive than some of the other places in the area, but they do a quality job… That said the reason I’m writing this is because these guys are FANTASTIC tailors I’ve had some suits altered and all of them are perfect.
Eco-​friendly, easy, great tailoring… a solid 4 star place

This place is amazing, amazing, amazing.
They always seem to get stains out that really have no business coming out — weird yellow-​brown stains on a pale blue silk skirt that had gone unnoticed in my closet for years, for instance, until I needed to wear it to a wedding.
Their prices aren’t the lowest around, but the owners are quite friendly and always happy to give advice (for instance, about hem length… I’ve been to places where the tailor would just shrug and say, «Whatever you want.» Here, they tell you the honest truth about whether you want those pants to be that extra .5 inch shorter). And they are happy to redo things if there is ever a problem… for example, when I had a hem that fell out after wearing the pants twice.
I have always found the staff to be pleasant and helpful.

It was just… OK. I’ve tried several drycleaners in the area and truly want to support the environmentally friendly cleaners. The staff were friendly but I noticed a few of my peices didnt come clean. I had hoped for better!!!

Farshad is probably one of the best small business owners out there. He cares about his customers, takes great pride in the work Clevergreen does, and is committed to the environment. I have been using Clevergreen for years now and as a satisfied customer feel really bad that I haven’t written a review. BUT I realized being satisfied IS a reason to write a review!
This is the only place I would trust to clean my sweaters. I have had too many tragic accidents with other cleaners in Medford and when you buy handknits from Japan the last thing you want is a shrunken felted mess. I’m lucky I can walk to Clevergreen and that I know my sweaters will come back perfect.
And if you care about the environment and want a personal touch be willing to pay for it!

New to the area, just got married and needed a place to dry clean my wedding dress.
I searched and searched for places in Boston ( Unilocal, the knot, wedding bee, google, yellow pages. etc), but I could not find any place that was highly recommended for wedding gowns. I took the risk and brought my wedding dress here based on what Jamie K. wrote about the customer service.
My wedding dress has an outer layer of lace and wasn’t too dirty. no visible stains. just the usual dirt mostly on the bottom.
The positives:
— price was reasonable
— nice employees (the 2 that work there)
the negatives:
— took about a month (which I didn’t mind b/​c I was in no rush)
— all the dirt stains did not come out (and it really wasn’t that dirty to begin with).
— it had a smell to it. I think it’s b/​c of the organic chemicals they use. But it’s pretty strong and not pleasant.
I brought these concerns up to the lady when I picked up the dress, but she kinda just shrugged and said that’s the best they could do. But I know for a fact that my dress can get cleaner.
I had actually dry cleaned my dress before my wedding. It was a sample dress that had been worn over and over again. And at that point, it was visibly dusty. The pre-​wedding dry cleaning job was AMAZING and looked like a brand new dress that was newly bleached or something. It was so unbelievably white and clean looking. So if that sample dress can get that clean after who-​knows-​how-​many-​dirty-​sweaty-​bodies tried on that dress, then I don’t see why it couldn’t get that clean after 1 sweaty body wore it for one day.
Unfortunately, I would try and find another place if you want your wedding dress cleaned.

The concept behind the business is great, but the customer service leaves too much to be desired to make this location successful.
I’ve given this place many chances, but today was the last one. (In the past, they forgot to give me all the clothes I dropped off requiring a return trip, and I have had items returned with missing buttons, etc) I had a sweater I needed sewed and cleaned for a business trip on Monday. Dropped it off on Thursday and they told me it would be ready Friday, but I didn’t get in to pick it up until Saturday. After waiting to be served because no one is in the front room (as is so often the case), I was told my sweater wasn’t ready, nor was it there, even though it had been promised to be ready the day before. She told me she would call when it was ready, and didn’t apologize. I called at 530 (they close at 6) and she said it was ready, but she forgot to call me, even though she knew I needed it for Monday. I went in to pick it up. No apologies were made and no offer of a discount or anything was offered either. Her lack of interest in maintaining customers really turned me off from them.
I’m not hard to please. I like giving places a few chances, because we’re all human and things happen. But Clevergreen has had too many chances and has not made up for them or improved upon their past errors. I’ll be keeping my business in Teele Sq from now on.
