Sea Spa

I was really impressed with Sea Spa. I spent hours online and calling around trying to find a reasonable priced place for a couples massages that had available appointment times that fit our schedule. When I called Sea Spa the man who answered just said Hello and nothing else so I thought it was off, but brushed it once I asked if it was Sea Spa. The place is nice and clean they always have specials, its very reasonably priced. We enjoyed our massages very much. They were professional and friendly. Tracy made sure I was comfortable throughout the whole process and worked on the areas I requested. I will return.

It’s been ten minutes since seeing Nelson, and I literally started writing this review the minute I got home, because honestly, Nelson is THAT good. I have never had such an AMAZING massage before. I don’t even know how to verbalize how amazing Nelson is, but all I could say to my husband when we exited our respective massage rooms, was, «I AM A NOODLE.»
Every single kink in my body was worked on! Nelson began the massage with a five minute «scan» of my body, figuring out where all the knots were, then proceeded to spend the rest of the session working out EVERY SINGLE KNOT.
Just ask for Nelson, and you can be a noodle too!

I randomly went to go get a quick chair massage, and absolutely LOVED it. I am SUPER picky when it comes to massages because I like a lot of pressure, and Nelson did a wonderful job. I will absolutely be going back to see Nelson.

Have been quite pleased with Nelson and the expertise he brings to his practice. If you suffer from longtime pain, his deep tissue massage may very well be the answer. With his techniques, Nelson breaks up tight muscles and releases toxins from the body. You will be in «good hands» if you choose Nelson at Sea Spa!

Fantastic 75 minute massage and foot reflexology session. Simple place, not a fancy «spa» but relaxing enough. Price is unbelievably cheap for a good long service! I will go again!

Okay, massage was 5 stars no doubt. But I did have some issues that knocked a few stars away. I made an appointment with Nelson for today. When I called to make the appointment, my call was forwarded to someone’s cell phone voicemail. I was confused so I hung up. A minute later I saw I had a missed call from a number that sounded as though it was the number I was forwarded to so I called back and Nelson answered, «hello?» I asked if I was speaking with Sea Spa because I wasn’t sure what was happening. He said yes. As I made my appointment, he sounded as though he was driving in a car, rather than in a spa at a desk. Okay so I requested Nelson and he said he was «very flexible.» Fast forward to when I arrive to my appointment. I get to the desk and no one is around. I wait for a couple minutes until I decide to walk into the waiting area. There was an employee sitting on the couch eating lunch. It threw me off that he was able to hear the loud door slam behind me and the loud, creaky steps I walked up and he didn’t greet me. He didn’t ask who I was, just walked into another room and came back saying, «he’ll be right with you.» I sat and waited. A few moments later, a woman came out, went to the desk, smiled at me and walked away. I waited more. She then approached me and introduced herself as Jennifer. I was expecting Nelson, I only chose him from the reviews on here and he was the person on the phone when I called. We went into the room and I didn’t fill out any paperwork, never signed anything, it was very low key. The first thing I noticed was there was an air conditioner blasting and the room was not as warm as the usual experiences I’ve had with professional massage. The lights were on bright as well. I got into the bed and waited. When she came back she told me I would have to pay the difference in price because I had a Groupon. I told her that I didn’t have a Groupon and never said that I did. At this point I was almost sure that they mistook me for another woman who had the same appointment time. She left the room again and came back quoting me the special price that I had expected to pay anyhow. That experience was a little awkward. During my massage, I listening to the calming sounds of water and nature from the speakers, as well as the blasting air conditioner, the telephone ringing loudly down the hall, people speaking at the desk down the hall, doors opening and closing and knocking noises. I tried my best to really relax and concentrate.
Okay so to the massage, it was awesome. Jennifer is very strong and really gets into those tough knots. I have been feeling so much relief so far. When I went to pay, Nelson was at the desk smiling at me. He asked my name. That was the first time I was asked for my name! The end of my appointment! And he looked at the appointment book and said «sorry, she made a mistake.» I don’t know how it was Jennifer’s fault but it just seemed, weird and awkward. I didn’t want my massage to end but I couldn’t get the odd experience out of my head the whole time. It’s still rubbing me the wrong way. Ultimately, I will return but will definitely be requesting Jennifer next time.

Great way to spend a rainy day!

A friend of mine who lives in the Boston is a Groupon junkie. She loves to use them for massages and always sends me one as a gift (yay me!). We have experienced years of massages through Groupon and I have to say, this place takes the cake!
Full disclosure, I am a massage therapist. I have been practicing for 24 years (I don’t usually disclose this to therapists working on me, however). I want to say that I’m not too terribly picky, but I would be lying. In all the years of experiencing myriad massages in the Boston area, this is the second I have found that I would go back to, and here is why: friendly service, clean treatment rooms (and linen), attention to client comfort, but most importantly– the massage therapist I visited (twice) is very body intuitive. Also, a difficult thing to accomplish as a therapist is maintaining a comfortable temperature of the room, for both the client and therapist. I was never too hot or too cold, so Yen hit the mark perfectly both times. That is tricky to do.
I saw Yen, who didn’t talk much (probably due to a bit of a language barrier) but who knew where to go on my body and how deeply to work. I have back and neck issues and he went right to work. I do deep tissue work in my practice, and his work was more about movement, energy blocks, balancing and then he got into the deeper work, once he got my back to open and release. He used the full hour to increase his pressure so that there was absolutely no pain, but I knew he was going deeper and deeper. That is the sign of a great therapist. Deep work should not hurt, if you do it right. My friend received her massage from Nelson, and she could not stop talking about how amazing he is.
Parking is awesome. If you are coming to Sea Spa and it is on the right hand side of the road (sorry, I’m not familiar with road names), immediately after their building is a driveway. There is AMPLE (and free) parking out back and there are even shady spots, so it is perfect. We have gone both times on a Saturday; perhaps parking is not so available during the work week.
After my massage, I am never quick to share how it was, because I have chronic pain and often it takes a while to know how it helped, or if it worked. This is the first massage I’ve had which kept my neck pain from coming back… for WEEKS! Interestingly, the first time I saw Yen, he didn’t work much on my neck at all, but I got incredible relief.
We also got same day appointments the last time we went. That is amazing, for such talented therapists. We definitely hit the jackpot that day.
The waiting room has some big, fluffy looking chairs, but they are too big and terribly uncomfortable. I am not including that on my evaluation, as to me, it is the massage I am judging, not the waiting room. I could care less about waiting for my massage.

Simple, clean location with friendly staff & a very wonderfully skilled massage therapist. Ask for Jennifer; you’re in for a special, customized experience. All tension knots & sore muscles are dealt with professionally. The only problem is when it’s over & you have to leave!

I love the deep tissue massage by Jennifer she goes deep into my muscles & the next day I can feel a good pain! No1 goes as deep as she does! So I am a return customer therefore I’m her client!
It’s just that Amazing!

Its been almost two years and I’m still going here for all my massage needs. This establishment has gotten better with time. I have brought both my husband and at least one sister and their sentiments are that they had the best massage of all time at Sea Spa.

I’ve been so busy lately, and my body hasn’t gotten enough rest. So needless to say I was in desperate need of a fix. While browsing Groupon I came across sea spa today, purchased it and was able to get an appt the same day. The experience was great! I fell asleep during the massage that’s how amazing it was. I will definitely be returning.

Had the hot stone massage. 75 minutes of bliss.
Nelson did a great job and also listened when putting a little too much pressure on certain, rather tight muscles on the back. The room I was in was kept nice and warm to keep warm. A couple of times I could have drifted off into sleep.
I know that the music is meant to help people relax, but to me it sounded like a wolf whistle. My only complaint.
I do see myself going back there.

I’m a big fan of Sea Spa. Not only do they often run deals, but it’s easy to get an appointment– plus they take you on time once you arrive. The space is always very clean and all the linens smell freshly laundered. The massage itself is top notch! I have been twice so far and looking forward to coming back more regularly (I always say I will get massages more often, need to better with the follow through…).

I had a massage by Michelle Madera and it was fantastic. My upper and lower back are very tight due to desk work. The few massages I had in the past were good but I always felt the therapists could not go deep enough despite the pressure. Michelle was able to put a lot of pressure and really help relax these muscles. The room was spacious, the massage table was very comfortable. The room had enough space to put my belongings. I really loved how after massaging an area she put hot towels to the muscles relax deeper.
Just for info the place is located in the same building as the Blue fin restaurant. Making the appointment was very easy and I did not have to wait too long.
The improvement I would suggest is to dim the light more in the massage room.

I had an hour-​long foot treatment, with a foot bath, foot scrub, and reflexology treatment. It was quite enjoyable!
Sea Spa is on the second floor of a small complex in Medford. There is 2 hour street parking as well as 1 hour street parking. Patrons can also apparently park in the lot of a nearby store. So should you need parking: no problem.
The space is quite nice. The chair was comfy and there was relaxing music playing during my visit. I appreciated the staff’s efforts to make me comfortable, which included bringing me a glass of water and opening the curtains to give me more light (I brought a book to read!). The treatment went exactly as described, complete with an exfoliating scrub, a type of foot soak in tea water (no soap), and a reflexology massage (lower legs + feet) with oil. My only complaint is that I had some sensitivity during the reflexology treatment (my feet were sore), but the staff was attentive when I told them. [Also just a note that as there is no soap in the foot soak, this treatment doesn’t clean your feet like a soak before a pedicure would. A quick wash might actually be a good and easy addition at the treatment’s beginning!]
This spa seems to offer great specials on other treatments, like massages, which also can include other treatments (like reflexology). That is probably the best way to go. Recommended!

Ok, I don’t log into my Unilocal often, but I had five stars burning a hole in my pocket after walking out of my first appointment here. And they’re all for Sea Spa! Awhile back I bought the Groupon they offered for a 60min foot reflexology session. I usually go to another place closer to my job for this sort of thing, because it’s how I like to treat myself after working for 7…8…9…sometimes 10 days in a row. On my feet. Ow. Such is the life of a hospitality professional, I guess.
Anyway, I had almost forgotten about this Groupon and I’m so glad they could squeeze me in a couple days before it expired, because this experience definitely convinced me that this is worth the extra bus ride. My appointment was with Yen, the friendly LMT who just gave me the best foot reflexology appt of my life. Not only was the service great, but the place was clean, comfy, and quiet. I find myself hoping a get scheduled for another long stretch soon so I have an excuse to go back really soon!
Bonus note: They also seemed to have a pretty good sense of humor about the weird guy who keeps posting the bizarre pictures and sketchy reviews on their Unilocal page, so kudos to them for being able to laugh about it.

It was my 2^nd massage experience. It’s Like a hidden place, you have to walk upstairs. There were street parking outside.
I felt like the place was very nice with the candles and very clean. The massage therapists were very professional. He knew where I needed most help. I felt really sore that day, so I told him to do it harder if possible and it made me feel so relaxed. If you are looking for a gentle massage, this might not be the place for you.
It’s the right amount of pressure for me. He relaxed those knots I had. I would go back on another sore day.

The spa is located on the second floor of the building, right above Blue Fiji. Parking can be a little tough around this area but manageable. I arrived early for my appointment and found the place to be tastefully done. It was quite beautiful, serene and comfortable. Very clean and well lit. I went into a massage room that was complete with a tub and a shower.
Yen worked magic on my aching muscles. He asked if the pressure he was using was good often, if I was warm enough, if to was ok to use oil. I appreciated the questions very much! The massage itself was amazing! I didn’t realize how tense I was until after the massage. I was hoping he would have offered to extend the massage to 90 minutes, because I would have, regardless of the price!
After, he told me about their package special. I’m not ready to shell out that much now, but I would consider it in the future! Color me impressed! Thank you for a much needed and wonderful massage!

Extremely impressed by this wonderful new spa in the heart of Medford Square.
I am very wary of trying new places since you never know what you will get… but, I was beyond pleasantly surprised at Sea Spa.
I did have a groupon for a one hour foot treatment which consisted of reflexology, a foot scrub and soak. It was HEAVENLY! I had just gotten back from a week’s vacation at the Cape with my family. The day I got back I probably walked 10 miles around Boston since it was so gorgeous out. I woke up the next day with such tight calves and sore feet that I knew Sea Spa would be my oasis for the afternoon.
I called for an appointment and about an hour later my feet were in the hands of Yang one of the co-​owners of Sea Spa.
On first arrival, I noticed just how pleasant and inviting the sitting area is. First, you will walk up a flight of stairs and at the top of the stairs is the check in desk. Yang had me follow him to the room where my service was to take place. First, I skipped to the loo and made note that it was very clean (a bonus). So many places I’ve gone fail to overlook the cleanliness of a bathroom, and this place was definitely cleaned well.
There are two chairs in the room and they were really comfy, like the kind of comfy chair your grandparents would have in their living room. There was quiet and calm music playing softly and a few sweet smelling votive candles.
Yang brought out a tall wooden barrel/​bucket lined with plastic — most hygenic! He then had me soak my feet for about 10 minutes. Then the reflexology began.
IT WAS EXCELLENT!
Yang has been doing massages for years and is quite skilled. I felt so relaxed and my feet and legs felt the same! Finally, it was time for the sugar scrub. All the dead skin just came right off and then my legs and feet felt like new! I was so happy and relaxed for the rest of the day and slept so well!
Yang was nice to talk to and I could tell is very passionate about being a licensed massage therapist. I told him that I was so happy that Sea Spa is in my city and I would gladly return for repeat business.
