History
Established in 1987.
An absolutely broke but in love couple decided to open a bookstore. We found a basement location, borrowed a few thousand dollars, named it Turning Point and started building bookcases.
We opened as a self-help bookshop with a few Native American artifacts, one-of-a-kind hand wrought works in silver and unique mineral specimens acquired directly from the mines of Brazil.
Over time we anticipated the death of the small bookstore and began morphing into the present.
Over the past twenty-eight years Turning Point Gallery has evolved into the areas premier collection of Museum Quality American Studio Glass and Small Studio Handcrafted Jewelry. Mineral specimens and the works of world renowned artist Susan Seddon-Boulet are also found throughout the gallery. We hold an online sale of original works by Ms. Boulet every May, and continually look for and find the truly unique in glass and natural objects of art. The rest is as they say «The Future».
We look forward to your visit!
Meet the Business Owner
Cara W.
Business Owner
Cara’s background is in the arts, (she attended Philadelphia College of Art), and has studied with Sam Feinstein, a student of Hans Hoffman. She also grew up with a deep affinity to the natural world. That connection led her to develop adult programing utilizing wilderness survival training, (working with Native people in the wilds of Canada), incorporating vision questing, sweat lodges and Jungian dream work to facilitate personal growth. Then came her career at Turning Point Gallery. For the past twenty-eight years she has given business and artistic direction to this very personal endeavor.
