This place is a total hole in the wall. Their storefront is easy to miss and the back where you park looks and smells like a fish warehouse. I was a bit apprehensive about this spot from the beginning. You walk in and it’s like a most mom and pop latin spots in the city. No frills. No décor. No ambiance. I was scared. They start you off with free fried fish and tartar sauce. Quite the change from complimentary bread but I was willing to try it. After the first bite I was hooked. Of course, this isn’t for the health-conscious. The fish tasted fresh. For lunch I had the camarones al ajillo(shrimp in garlic sauce). You can go to other more expensive restaurants, pay more and it would not taste as good as it did here. Loved that it was creamy. Don’t talk to anyone in close range afterwards though. Got it with a side of rice. For $ 14 it was a steal. I actually had to take half of it home because their portions are generous. The server asked if we wanted cafecito to end the meal. I was hesitant but she assured me she was the best barrista in town as far as Cuban coffee goes. She wasn’t lying. I didn’t even have to add sugar the coffee was so perfect. Don’t be fooled by the cover of this book. Try it. You’ll love it. And get there before the lunch crowd does or you’ll be extending that lunch hour to two.

This place might look like a «hole in the wall» from the outside but serves GREAT seafood!!! It is in a VERY unassuming place, you almost can’t even tell that it is there(next to a Burger King, in front of a bank). Locals know this treasure! Great tasting dishes at good prices, good size portions & wonderful service! It is a local lunch time favorite.
