Brevard Ballet Academy trains dancers in classical Russian ballet. Owner and Artistic Director Elena Shokhina is a graduate of the world famous Vaganova Ballet Academy in St Petersburg, Russia and is a retired professional principle dancer and prepares students for dance competitions, regular performances, and a possible career in dancing. This is accomplished through regularly scheduled classes, private lessons, Master classes, summer dance intensives, and summer ballet intensives. Graduates of the Vaganova Ballet Academy have gone on to perform as principal dancers at the Marinsky Theatre (Kirov), Bolshoi Theatre, and American Ballet Theatre (ABT). She is known for her vast repertoire to include principle roles in Swan Lake, Giselle, Peter Pan, Sleeping Beauty, Don Quixote, Dracula, Romeo and Juliet, La Bayadere, Paquita, Cinderella, Nutcracker, Scheherazade, Les Sylphides and many others. Her dance studio is conveniently located in the Eau Gallie Art District (EGAD) just over the causeway from beachside, and minutes from anywhere in Melbourne, West Melbourne, Viera, and Palm Bay. Miss Elena teaches kids, adults, and adult beginner in ballet. Other classes taught include Lyrical dance (contemporary dance), Repertoire, and Character dance. Whether to increase fitness, healthy lifestyle, grace, etiquette, or posture, Brevard Ballet Academy has a dance class for you.

History

Established in 2014.

Brevard Ballet Academy was founded in 2014 by Elena Shokhina; Owner, Artistic Director, and Ballet Mistress. Miss Elena started her teaching career at the Nevada Ballet Theatre upon her retirement as a professional principal ballet dancer in 2008.

A graduate of the world famous Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet in St. Petersburg, Russia, Elena went on to become a principle dancer with both the St Petersburg Ballet (Russia) and the Nevada Ballet Theatre (USA) before discovering her new passion, teaching. As a principal ballerina, Elena was known for her incredible discipline, particularly on pointe. She is also known for her extensive repertoire to include principle roles in Swan Lake, Giselle, Peter Pan, Sleeping Beauty, Don Quixote, Dracula, Romeo and Juliet, La Bayadere, Paquita, Cinderella, Nutcracker, Scheherazade, Les Sylphides and many others. Through Brevard Ballet Academy, Elena is bringing her vast training as a Russian ballerina and experience as a principle dancer to the heart of Brevard county.
