My daughter wanted an up-​do for prom and so we contacted the folks at Nicolo. Kim did my daughter’s hair and it was beautiful.
My daughter showed Kim a picture and she matched it perfectly. Everyone was so pleasant and helpful. My daughter put on the prom dress and there were lots of oohs and ahs. If you’re looking for someone to give you a special occasion hairdo and treat you like a princess, this is the place!

One of the most professional and awesome environment that I’ve ever been too. Everyone is great, the service even better. Totally recommend this spot!

Went in for a color. I have thick hair with a strong pigment. The first time around the root did not lift at all after having been in the salon for 2 hrs I went back home looking exactly like I did before. I had to come back to fix the color. This time around my entire root was bleached which I later learnt is a huge no no. The color I got was uneven and the bleach caused orange patches of hair left which never got colored. I did not get a salon quality blow dry. Just a quick blow dry with a paddle brush. Was very disappointed.

Jill is fabulous… a master at color and styling. The salon has been in Melrose forever and is a very pleasant place… no wonder it has lasted

The salon is lovely and location is great. I’m sure if you’re a long-​standing, regular customer, it’s different. But as a first time customer, I didn’t experience a whole lot of welcome. The hair cut was fine, the stylist did an adequate job although it was really just a trim so not much room for her to screw that up. I felt like I had walked in to a place that I didn’t belong. I found the atmosphere unfiriendly. Based on others reviews, perhaps I was just experiencing an off night? I may give it one more chance.

Needed a last minute haircut and called Nicolo based on reviews. Heather was great… easy to talk to and my hair came out just the way we planned. I’ve already got my next appt. booked!

My previous stylist had left, and so 2 visits ago, they set me up with Jill, new to the salon, but not new to styling. I have been REALLY happy with her! The salon handled the transition well, and have been very committed to retention and satisfaction. They’ve also been investing in the look and feel of the salon, and the experience people have while they’re there… it’s all been very well done. I’ve only been visiting the salon for a year, but I don’t see any reason why i’d change at this point!

Just had my second cut at this salon, and my second great experience. Jill did such a great job helping to totally change my style (I cut off almost 10″ at my last visit) that I had to come back and go even a bit shorter! Great, clean, stylish, welcoming Salon. I’d highly recommend Nicolo and Jill, and I’ll definitely be coming back!

Jill just joined Nicolo in Melrose. She is a fabulous Hairstylist! She is great with color, highlights and Ombré’. It certainly doesn’t hurt that she is so easy to talk to and is exceptional at listening to what type of cut and style you want. I highly recommend Jill for hair color and a great cut and blowdry style.

So I’m a guy, but sometimes I do womanly things, like get waxed… hey I’m Italian and hate hair on my back, it took awhile for me to admit this. Anyways… I went to a few places prior to this, however I have never felt more comfortable and at ease than this place. Amy is my go to, and she is literally one of the nicest people in the world. It doesn’t hurt that she’s Italian, hey when you take off your shirt you have to be comfortable in front of that person!!! The place is great, the staff is friendly, they have a huge parking lot located on their premises which is a bi beautiful house that was converted into a salon. I’ve never had a haircut their, but that place seems to be very busy all the time and the people seem to be very happy leaving. They also have facials etc… Which I will get at some point. Additionally they sell lots of product etc. Making it one stop shopping !! Anyways kudos to Nicolo and their amazing staff, especially Amy!

Went to Nicolo’s tonight for an impromptu hair cut, and I was very impressed with the experience. The space is a beautiful converted Victorian house with a lot of character, and good parking.
Kim knew exactly what I wanted and did a great job. I usually have stylists who are afraid to cut my hair too short or don’t quite understand what I want, but Kim worked really well with the idea I gave her, I got a great cut.
The hours are much more flexible than other salons, the staff is great and prices are competitive. I like shopping local so I will definitely go back. I appreciate that they took me on short notice. Stop by the Beehive Kim, I’ll buy you a cocktail!

I went to Nicolo today and got an awesome cut from Kim. I only gave this pace 4and not 5 stars because of the price. Then again, all salons are too much these days. Kim’s cut is worth it though. She is an artist an true professional!

I used to be a barbershop guy, but it was so hit or miss. And frankly, one of the reasons I went to the barber was because all the good hair salons in the city were so expensive!
but since I’ve moved to Melrose, I thought I’d try a local salon, and am I ever glad I did. I also lucked out and got Amanda, she’s fantastic. I’ve been going there for about 6 months now, and never a bad cut. and it’s about the same price as a barber in the city. Oh, and they’re open late, so i can catch them on the way home from work if I don’t want to go on a Saturday.
so in short, great place, lots of parking, and nice people. go.

I love Nicolo! I was referred to Suzanne by a friend after I got tired of my lackluster colorist. Suzanne is awesome, she does a great cut and color and is Redken Certified Colorist. She is incredibly friendly and great at interpreting what you want.
I also recently had my makeup done by Amanda. She did a fabulous job and was very knowledgeable. I’m looking forward to having a facial done by her soon!
This salon was a great find and has a very familial atmosphere which I love!

My friend grew up in the area and always got the best cuts and colors from here. Naturally when she got married she asked them to do her hair and her bridesmaids. I could not believe how amazing all of our hair came out. The bride was beyond gorgeous and she did all of our hair so different and exactly how we asked.
This is the best place! If I could afford it I would come here more often!

This salon is lovely inside. I had a very nice stylist who did a fairly good job — color was good and haircut was fine.
I arrived a few minutes early for my appt. so I fully expected that I would have to wait but I ended up waiting nearly 40 minutes. I understand that things happen and sometimes a stylist has no control over her previous client being late which is going throw off the rest of her day — but jeez, tell me you’re running late so I can decide whether to reschedule or go run an errand..
