Great value for quality cuts. Talented team of barbers and friendly service. Constructive criticism would be to clean hair from floors more frequently and clean up the stations from too much clutter. Overall it’s a great place and I’ll keep going back.

Love this place, well worth the 30+ minute drive. John give great cuts and can do some sweet designs

Got a great haircut today! Im happy. Sides short a little more left on top, feathered, shaved cream on the neck, brows done… Nice job, I will come back! Best haircut I got in years!

I have been going to their Melrose location for a few years now and they hands down give the best cuts in the Boston area. Good value as well.
They recently opened up a new location in Belmont where I now go as they take online bookings which I prefer as there is no wait. I have never recveived so many compliments about my hair cuts until I started going to the Barbers Den. Highly recommend checking them out. This continues to be my to go to place for cuts.

2 week maintenance cut gone wrong…
I travel for work so I have to try new places on a bi-​weekly basis.
First timer at this shop. There was no wait on a Wednesday at 12:00 PM.
The workstation was dirty despite not being busy. The photo on Unilocal shows a seat with a washing sink at each station, that is no longer the case. The photo needs to be updated. I had a flight to catch so I went in the restroom to wash up. Not ideal.
The younger male closest to the restroom cut my hair.
What I came in with:
— mid-​fade 3.5 on the sides
— Slightly round transition from side to top (2 weeks since last haircut)
— 2″ on top length from front to back
— Straight sideburns down to middle of ear
What I asked for:
— 2 mid-​fade on sides
— Straight transition from side to top
— Trim edges on top
— Square back
What I received:
— 2 high and tight on sides
— Very round transition from side to top
— Uneven top length (1.5″ in front and ½″ in back)
— Sideburns cut to top of ear with left side uneven
The cut lacked attention to detail. I do not understand the perfect rating listed on Unilocal.I would have been better off going to a Great Clips or Super Cuts which I haven’t been to in 8 years.

I don’t write reviews unless I feel a business deserves one. After my last trim at SuperCuts I thought is time to look for another hair cut saloon. After reading some reviews I decided to try this place. I was surprised when I walked in. I was greeted friendly by Anthony, who turned out do cut my hair after a few minutes. This place is authentic, I got exactly the haircut I was looking for and pricing was good. I’m definitely coming back

What a find ! I had to get my 3yr old a complete head shave, we accidentally ended up here because it was open and close by, thanks this happened. Steve was the stylist and he is great with kids and so are the other stylists. They absolutely know what they are doing. There were several others customers including few kids and all of them got a cool haircut!
Place is clean and very well designed and maintained. Guys are super professional, this is the place to go. They also have a online booking system which makes things convenient. Happy to find this place.

The Barber’s Den is the best barber shop I have ever been to. I currently live in Boston but will make the trip to Melrose just to get my hair cut here because it is the perfect nexus of price, atmosphere, and a helluva good haircut. All of the guys are super friendly, very attentive and knowledgable, and have never disappointed with the end result. Cannot recommend it enough!

Decided to take the plunge and try out a barbershop instead of going to my regular salon. Trusty ol’ Unilocal provided me with this gem and I had a great experience!
Waited about an hour and fifteen mins, but it was completely understandable since the holiday weekend is coming up and everyone had to get their fade on.
Anyway, as a woman going into an all-​male environment, I didn’t feel weird or uncomfortable. The guys were all in conversation, but anyone I saw leaving looked very pleased with their experience, so clearly they know what they’re doing.
Sean did my cut tonight. I just gave him a general «I want the sides shortened» and he went to town. Came out perfectly! Much better than anything I could have imagined. Bravo, dude! Will be back in a few weeks! Cheers!

New to the area and picked this place based on reviews and the fact that they have a bunch of chairs to decrease wait time. I have to say reviews lived up to the hype and he price is right. I will definitely be going back.

My go to Barbershop for about a year now. Classic haircuts done right. I have received cuts from all of the guys here and they all do great jobs. Wait can be pretty bad on the weekends so try to go on a weekday if possible. Highly recommended.

I’ve been a customer for 3 years now.
My four sons (2 adult) and I drive from the NH border to get cuts. It’s the only reason we go to Melrose. I have friends who drive from the Merrimack Valley as well; it’s that good.
What I like most is I trust everyone single barber for a great cut. No need to wait for «your guy», which is what BD newbs do… it’s what I did.

Not a bad place. Gets pretty crowded with long waits at times but thats expected. Thing is, they dont have a system of order for who’s turn it is for a haircut. You can pull a number but they dont use them! So you have to basically remember who is next and make sure someone doesn’t try to cut you. That can be a pain when 10 – 15 people are waiting.
Pretty good haircuts but that depends on the barber you get. All in all it’s my go to place but the free for all system can be annoying. Wish they used the numbers or a sign in sheet.

The best haircut I’ve gotten ever, and that’s a bold statement seeing that I’ve gotten thousands of haircuts and my mother owns a hair salon but I don’t care and she would never be on Unilocal.
I love this new generation of young Barbers, they understand up to date styles and are really good at doing it .
I said I wanted a prohibition high and tight and he was spot on.
This is my new go to place for now.

These guys are the best. I been missing this place badly since moving to Washington, DC. I have yet to find a barber shop that comes close. Most importantly, all these guys know what they’re doing and are super professional when it comes to cutting your hair. On top of that, they are good dudes to talk to about sports or movies. They have fun and goof off a lot which means they enjoy their jobs. Location is convenient, clean, and lots of tvs.
This place is a good deal for their skill levels. The hair wax they use is good too.
I hope my hair style survives until I’m home for Xmas break. You locals don’t know how good you have it.

When I was in college I only went to one place to get my cut. As soon as I graduated, I was afraid I wouldn’t find the next place I would go to. My dad actually went here first, enjoyed his experience and thought I would give it a go. I am now there every month.
Great environment, clean, TVs everywhere and the crew Evan has down there do an excellent job on the cuts. I rock the sunglasses I got from there and everywhere I go I end up doing a little grassroots marketing for them!

I recently started working in Saugus Ma, since the 70’s I have been going to Salons but I needed my sparse locks trimmed and my neck cleaned up. Upon a recommendation I tried Barbers Den, first I felt 10 again like going to the barber shop with my dad an old fashioned guys barber shop. Every time I have been there I got a great cut and shave, the music is always Great, every guy in there is truly a professional, the conversation is so random from sports, politics, music, or last nights date, and everyone in there has an opinion and voices it. Kudos to the owner for creating a nostalgic yet trendy atmosphere. Definitely a place to check out. And a big bonus price is cheap for the quality, ambiance, and overall feel good expierience

WOW an old style barbershop!
This barber shop is staffed with a bunch of young guys who are real barbers. What I saw was excellent tradecraft, attention to details, use of old style and new tools and nice guys willing to be excellent at their craft
If you want a real haircut, this place is highly recommended.
