been going here on and off for a couple a years now their meat might be cheaper than say kroger for sure… but the quality has really gone downhill… but hey you like what you like
Ode to Meat Oh, meat, my dearest, how I love thee and Big Daddy, my butcher: man, you please me by giving me boxes and bags of fresh meat; I struggle to eat it, a near Herculean feat! Your display case is window to another relm but you shan’t go off course with BD on the helm. «ill take your chicken, your steaks, and some frog legs as well!» «thats only three dollars, quite a hell of sell» «How bout some bacon, some kabobs, and some charcoal briquettes?» You wont find cheaper prices in town — on that you can bet. You slice butts, but not brisket, but i wont hold a grudge your store is a playground for those with a pudge. You sell candy and goodies behind the register … … … what rhymes with register?

This Place was pretty cool. Went there one day while on break. The service was nice and the meat looked awesome.

Since my mother lives in Memphis, I’m here at least 5 times out of the year, so Memphis is my second home. My last couple of visits, I kept seeing commercials for Big Daddy’s — so I made sure I stopped by to see what they were all about. I gotta say, its refreshing to see a meat shop in the south in a city like Memphis. We were Chicago transplants, where my mother ended up in Memphis and I ended up in Jackson, MS to attend Jackson State. By saying all that, in Chicago we had butcher shops every where and then it boiled down to what kind of butcher did you want, whether you wanted a German meat shop, Polish butcher/delicatessen, Italian meat shop/deli, even Mexican butcher shops — then for the black folks on the south side, you had Moo & Oink! ROTFLMAO But Big Daddy’s is a pretty solid place, the prices aren’t bad — but they don’t knock you out of the park on the bargain end either. I was hoping for some fresh links and they only had mass produced brand smoked links and the brand I got was Kountry Boy, I also picked up 3lbs. of beef fajita meet. The Freshmarket gives you more for the buck if you want some pre-seasoned fajita/taco meat. All in all, I will give them some more business — they had some other selections that I’ll give a try in the future.

Big Daddy’s is pretty cool. If you like to grill or barbecue(if you don’t know the difference, you’re probably not from Memphis) this is a good place to buy some meat. Maybe some people would like the Meat packages offered here, but I’m not one of them. Yet, it’s nice to know that if I want mass quantities of meat, it is available. I must confess to being picky about meat. I’ve cooked too much sub-par meat to waste time today. I don’t want to START with meat that I know will be disappointing just because the price is good. The beef selection at Big Daddy’s seemed a mix of good and bad. I saw some steaks with good marbling, and some that looked like they were beyond hope. They were running a Porterhouse special for $ 3.99 per pound. That’s a great price, but these steaks had zero intramuscular fat — no marbling at all. They were very low-grade meat. Just because it sits in a butcher’s case doesn’t mean much. My point is this — -if you’re buying beef at Big Daddy’s, you better know what you’re doing. At grocery stores, beef must be labeled by grade. Not in a private business. The grades aren’t marked here, and they should be. The chicken and pork here were outstanding. The pork steaks were cut thicker than normal, which is a big plus to me. Being from St. Louis, I love a good pork steak. I bought a half dozen, and they grilled up perfect. I didn’t buy any chicken, but they had a run of chicken legs that were some of the meatiest chicken that I’ve ever seen. I’d have no problem buying chicken here in the future. If you want exotic meat, this is a good place. Right in the case next to the pig’s feet was goat meat. They also carry frog legs and rabbit. They have Lamb as well. If you need charcoal or wood chips for Barbecue, this is your place. Besides regular Briquettes, they had big bags of Natural Lump charcoal. The brand they had is one I’ve used before, and it’s top notch. Natural Lump charcoal burns hotter than briquettes and is perfect for a good sear on a good steak. Big Daddys also has good prices and a nice variety of Sauces for your grilling and barbecuing. My advice at Big Daddy’s is to Stick with the chicken and pork, unless you really know beef. Or, ask which grade of beef you’re buying. If the price is too good to be true, it’s probably Standard grade meat. Not even Bobby Flay could grill Standard meat and make it good.

My favorite place to get meat in the city. Big Daddy’s is dirt cheap for the quality selection they put out. Whenever we plan a barbecue, I head over here and get all the staples. They have combo packs if you have a larger crowd to feed.

I went to this PIGSTY today. I purchased a groupig and thought I would test it out. First the employee was to tied up on a personal phone call to care for the one and only customer in the place. I started looking at the product and the store itself. I saw the pigs feet and after looking around I think they was running the floor before they was cut up. As far as using the groupig I was instructed what I could get then was told they were not accepting them no more and to call groupig and get a refund. All this by the same person you got it still on phone with personal business. Also the meat wasn’t nothing to right home about and I walked out with nothing. I vow to me and to all memphians I see I will advise, «DON’T GOHEREFORYOURMEAT». Luck you I had to atleast give you 1 star it would let me choose 0 stars

This is the only place that I get meat. You can’t beat the prices or the quality of the meat. Today I stopped by and got a half pound of bacon, two ribeys, and two pre-made burger patties that were bigger than a hockey puck. My total came to $ 12! The time before I went and bought 7 ribeye steaks for the grill for only $ 28. They have just about any type of meat product you want and the prices are just not going to be beat by anyone.

After checking the website out, my interest was definitely peaked. There are some great deals to be had here — even on pork belly. I got 4 ribeye steaks and 2 lbs. of wings. This place was pretty busy, but the 2 guys working behind the counter handled it with ease. Big Daddy, who lives up to his name, was keeping watch over at the cash register. Everyone was super friendly and my steaks were great. I’ll be back.

Big Daddy’s was one of those random experiences that you couldn’t plan if you tried. I never knew of their existence, and we almost didn’t go in. My husband pleaded with me, his love of meat and grilling won that battle. This place is a meat mecca. You’d never be able to tell by the outside, but this place has got some of the best selection of meats I’ve yet to see at any meat market or grocery store in Memphis. We walked in, and the guy behind the register handed us a flier with all of their packages listed. Yes, they have packages– ranging from $ 19.99 to a whopping $ 300 bucks. Seriously smart idea for all the grilling that goes on in this city. We had no idea what we wanted, so we spotted a woman at the counter(about 5 people deep in line) shouting out«Gimme 4 slabs of ribs Big Daddy» and«I’ll take 5 pounds of ground beef Big Daddy.» It was obvious this woman was a regular. So I did what any smart person would, and immediately caught her eye and asked for her recommendations. Get this! This woman lives in Cordova and drives all the way out here to get all her meat. Says she’s been everywhere– Whole Foods, Schnucks, Kroger, meat markets abound, and nothing rivals that of what Big Daddy has going down in this little strip mall store. I could see why. The steaks had some of the most insane marbling going on inside them, and the bacon was cut over an inch thick. It was giving me the meat sweats. We ended up purchasing a pound of that crazy bacon and 2 steaks. It was only $ 10 bucks. Are you kidding me? Even better, was when we ate the meat for dinner. Meat miracles rarely happen, Big Daddy’s has meat down to a science and his meat creations were amazingly, mouth wateringly, delicious. This is the place I will be buying all of my meat necessities. You should too.
