Hands down the best food I’ve had in Memphis since moving here 8 months ago! The staff is amazing and quick. Super friendly! BEST BISCUITS AND GRAVY EVER!!!

Memphis wake up! You win for worst srvice of all my travels and Bön Ton you are at the top of the list. Rude hostess, 15 MINUTES TO GET A CUP OF COFFEE IN A BREAKFAST PLACE, NO SILVERWARE. The list goes on and in on.. Good service equals good tips.

Some of the best biscuits and gravy I’ve ever had! Waffles are also delicious! (Stole a bite of my boyfriend’s, then ended up stealing a full forth of the waffle lol)…just went here bc dennys was closed but will definitely be back!

Good pancakes and the biscuit scrambled egg bacon sandwich was the best. Service was slow considering they were not very busy.

This place is the second oldest restaurant in Memphis. A great option for breakfast or when the wait at Rendezvous is too long! Try the Big Sammy– fried chicken biscuit smothered in gravy! Delish!

Good food & service — a little slow but only bc it was New Year’s Day. Highly recommend the chicken & waffles plus the big Sammy! Comfortable & laid-​back atmosphere & food was excellent!

After reading a lot of both excellent and horrible reviews – admittedly most of the excellent ones – we thought we’d try out Bön Ton as it was only a short 8 minute walk from our rental. Yeah bonus!
Upon entering, we were greeted enthusiastically by a friendly and smiling waitress. We were sure this was going to be good!
It took another 10 minutes to get our drink orders in… hmmm…and then we placed our meal orders. After one of us ordered the chicken and waffles, our bubbly waitress warned us that they ran out of waffles (at 10:58 am) and the waffles would actually be toaster «eggo» waffles instead. No joke. We ordered a pancake with chicken instead.
The biscuits and gravy came HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Okay that being said… here’s the rest of the story…
After our order was put in… it was probably a good 30 – 35 minutes before our meals arrived. This added to the previously mentioned drink order, and we are now up to 45+ minutes of waiting for very simple breakfast food. Meanwhile, the restaurant is now half empty from the earlier breakfast crowd and some tables which arrived after us are now receiving food. What?
The chicken biscuit sandwich arrived… WTH…$ 6.99 for a biscuit with a piece of chicken? Underwhelming and way expensive.
The biscuits and gravy LOOKED fantastic! The biscuits and gravy TASTED… weirdly seasoned and lukewarm at best. Damn this was a huge letdown. Even more of a letdown… I found several chunks of… wait for it… CUCUMBER…mixed in my sausage gravy!!! Totally stumped by that. I didn’t even ask the waitress as she was AWOL for the rest of the meal. But seriously… CUCUMBER in my gravy… you can’t make this sh*t up.
We ordered bacon. They forgot to bring it out and later dropped it off non-​chalantly.
I’m sure others have had far better experiences but this was a major miss today. Long wait+lukewarm food+warm drinks+weirdly seasoned and «surprise» additions to gravy=Mehhhhhhh!
Note: Our waitress (when we saw her) was the redeeming 2 stars to this experience.

Amazing breakfast and super service! I had the Big Sammy for breakfast and the hashbrowns smothered and covered. The biscuit, chicken, and gravy were packed with flavor. Sweet tea is perfectly sweet. Good thing I don’t live here or I’d get fat eating here every week! I’ll only be in town a week, but I fully intend to visit here again before I leave. If you’re in the area, you’ve got to try this café.

Stay away. The management and service is in disarray. Just to get your name on the list took 15 minutes. Then catching a waitress was another 15 minutes. The decaf coffee another 15 mins. Tables were leaving after an hour with no food. Best bet watch paint dry and get an egg mcmuffin, it is faster and less stressful. This was a recommendation from Peabody Concierge. Wait till I see her later!
Ok think positive the biscuits and gravy came out hot and tasted delicious but I had to get my own place settings syrup and the like

Would’ve given this place 5 Stars but the hostess blatantly ignored me. Was it so strange I was dining alone? When I walked in, I told her I was dining alone and asked that if nobody ahead of me was going to eat at the bar that I would be happy to sit there. She just replied with «There’s people ahead of you». Then walked away and I didn’t see her for another 15 minutes and when I aproached her again she says «Oh, I forgot about you. You can sit at the end of the bar». So… I could’ve been sitting down and gotten my order in 15 minutes ago? Gee. Thanks.
Give yourself about an hour from walking in till you get your food on the weekends when they’re busy. This place is packed for weekend breakfast from 7am-​2pm. I got a cup of coffee and the infamous BIG SAMMY. The big sammy is a biscuit with fried chicken and sausage gravy poured on top. It was good. Very southern, filling (not gut busting) and made me belly all warm and happy. I was served by the manager and she was very nice and attentive.
Next time I’m in Memphis, I’ll definitely return here! They also have your standard breakfast fares like eggs, omelettes, pancakes, and other great things too! It’s also very affordable, delicious, homestyle cooking.

This place was recommended to me. I had in mind what I wanted to eat.
Entering: No real sense of direction with the staff. Some were seated quickly some other not so much. In all fairness it was busy. On Saturday and Sunday they serve breakfast from 7am to 2pm.
Ordering: Easily done. It took a while to get everything to our table, like I mentioned earlier it looked like a busy day. What I would have preferred happen is just some communication/​acknowledgment.
Now on to the food. It was amazing. The service I received is the reason for the 3 star rating. I ordered the steak and eggs. Steak medium rare and the eggs sunny side up. Delicious! Absolutely delicious. Hopefully the service improves.

Very pleasant, happy wait staff; very slow kitchen. After a rather long wait, our order came out with chili rather than soup. No big deal but indicative of not having their act together. Tossed salad was warm. Reuben sandwich came without 1000 Island dressing. The tater tots were excellent, easily the highlight of the meal. Reuben, tots, iced tea + tax & tip = $ 15.

Was looking for a place to have breakfast after the fiasco the Double Tree downtown calls breakfast then I remembered Bön Ton. I walked over there and was greeted by a happy smiling crew, the place has a nice vibe and my eggs Benedict were delicious and filling, my coffee was hot and tasty. I ate at the breakfast counter and had a delightful time chatting and joking. This is breakfast how it should be.

Not giving five stars for the food, which was pretty basic but still delicious. I came in during lunch today, and was immediately seated at a clean table. I arrived craving breakfast, and even an hour after breakfast ended I was still served a pipping hot plate of eggs, bacon, hot cakes, and hash-​browns. My server was super nice and very attentive. Although, the food wasn’t the most amazing thing I’ve ever had (once again eggs and bacon are pretty basic) it was the server and kitchens willingness to serve me un-​offered menu items that I appreciate, and not without a kind word and smile from start to finish!

Had a very nice breakfast with 4 friends. My meal was nicely prepared and tasty. Service was a bit slow. My friends shared horror stories from recent past visits. However, we were in and out in a little less than an hour. Not bad, but not good either, considering the place was not that busy! Prices were good! I will be back. Recommended.

The food is fantastic. Service is awesome. And I am completely satisfied with the experience known as The Bön-​Ton. Would definitely recommend all to give it a try because you will not be disappointed.
Also, perfect spot for a date…

Came here due to previous Unilocal reviews. I agree on the service, er what service. Came here for Sunday brunch, they are located downtown by the Marriott. They must have been serving a large party, because a few of us, 3 – 4 parties were just left waiting at the lobby waiting to be seated at some of the empty tables, a few got impatient and left. I got to sit at the counter, so the server was fast to say hello and give me a menu. I had to look and ask for silverware, not too attentive, although there were only two of us at the counter. I had the eggs Benedict, it was over biscuits, yummy fluffy biscuits and a light hollandaise sauce with hash browns. Potatoes were crispy and good.
Cute place, good location downtown. 3.5 on food and taste, variety but a 2.5 on service.

This is a good meat-​and-​3 kind of place in downtown Memphis. Menu is varied and includes not only meat and veggies but also sandwiches and salads.
Service: very friendly and hospitable with some improvement needed in being attentive to refills
Food: Good for the most part. I dined at lunch and had a veggie plate, which had large helpings and included a good roll. Two of my friends had the blackened catfish and said it was very good. However, one member of my party had the chicken salad salad and had to send it back because the lettuce was brown and somewhat wilted.
Atmosphere: picture an old fashioned southern diner in the heart of the downtown of a big city. It has a retro feel.

YUM!!! Everything I had here was delicious. I was in Memphis for a conference, and wanted to find a great breakfast spot near the hotel.
Good:
1. Biscuits (stand-​alone and with gravy [which was amazing])
2. Hashbrowns — perfect texture, nice a crispy without being overly greasy
3. Bacon — PERFECTION
Not So Great:
1. Pancakes — the texture was kind of grainy and fell a part as the syrup was absorbed
2. Service — I didn’t find the waitstaff were very attentive

This is my favorite place to eat after suffering through a night shift.
The biscuits and gravy are literally heaven and will make you forget all of your problems! Incredibly rich, so good to share (the calories) with someone else. The pancakes are perfectly fluffy and buttery crisp on the outside. Served with warm syrup and obviously extra butter, a great way to start… or end your day. I’ve also tried the oatmeal, hash browns and greek omelet which were all great as well.
Every time I have been here, the chef came out and asked everyone how their meal was, love that!
Not a trendy breakfast place, but that’s why I like it :)
