Great service that did not bother us too much, but was right there when we needed anything. Delicious food and drinks. What is everyone complaining about? This place rocks!

Will NEVER go back to this location again. Last two visits had to wait for a table even though the restaurant was not even half full. Had to wait for the host/greeter to show up. Brought the food bowl up to the cooking area where one person was cooking. Had to wait for another person to show up to take the bowl and ask what starch we wanted with our food. Slow with drink refills. Will continue to go to the Poplar/240 location which is run much smoother even though they are a lot more busy.

Interesting concept of getting or making your food. First you get to pick between small, regular, or large. The bowls look smaller than the final product so don’t be scared. Regular feeds a normal hungry person. If you are starving, go for the large. The bowl is used to put in the ingredients you want in your bowl(proteins, vegs, not the carbs). A regular gets you 2 carbs. You can also request for egg. After you get your bowl, you get to put any type of protein or vegetables you want on the buffet area. Feel free to stack it up and push it down to fit more. I question the health violations if you were to mix raw chicken with raw beef with raw pork. The only tricky thing with this style of making your food is that you need to know what to mix. There are so many options that it can get overwhelming. I can’t even name everything I put in mine. For protein, I got the spicy beef and korean bbq pork. They were both decent. Pork was a tad better. Beef was a bit overcooked. I didn’t put any sauce b/c I was trying to go on the healthy side of things. I added some spices, which I do not recall. Fairly decent lunch joint. I much rather prefer ZamZams though.

Burnt my wife’s bowl contents and the server said my wife«might» be able to get a new one for free.

I’ll never go back. The service sucks. We waited for 20 mins then ended walking out. They need to fire the manger and get someone who cares about service. They are no excuses.

Me and my boyfriend went to eat lunch here on Friday around 7pm to dine in, was a quiet atmosphere around that time. Our server was nice. We both got the small bowls, they were pretty small but we filled them all the way to the top with meat/vegetables. Our food was good, & it was a bit much because of all the meat we had, couldn’t even finish it. I love this place

Poor customer service. No one was in the restaurant and server still waited way too long to give us our bowls. I had my Ghengis rewards card and 3 or 4 servers had no idea what to do with it. They didn’t ring my rewards points into my order and said they couldn’t do it now that it was rung up. I gave them my card to keep since I am never going back again!!!

Pretty upset with the way things are at this place. Ordered fried rice and the rice wasn’t good at all. Paid a hefty 18 $ for it though.

First time here. The process was a bit confusing but the final product was fine. I can’t imagine what kind of chaos might exist when the place is busy, as people already take a long time to pick out their raw ingredients in the buffet-type line(before it is handed off to the cooks). The staff were ‘ok’ for bring courteous but not very attentive at all. If you like this of place, I guess you like this place… enjoy-it’s not for me.

I gave this another try with another BOGO coupon from the Memphis City Saver Coupon Book. I used one of the recipe cards as my base and threw in other things I knew I liked. I had a much better time this time. The fried rice was really dry but tasted much better once I added more sauce to it. Just ask your waitress for another thing and they will give you another sauce cup. Loved: — Bamboo Shoots and Bean Sprouts — Cajun Chicken — Crushed Red Peppers — Dragon Sauce — Dragon Seasoning — Edamame and Garbanzo Beans — Khanzu Sauce — Jalapenos — G3 Sauce — Ginger Seasoning — Potatoes — Red Chili Peppers — Red Curry Peanut Sauce — Udon Noodles — Spicy Chicken Ok: — Green Beans — Green Onions Disliked: — Fried Rice

Just like other Genghis grill locations, but this one has a bit less waiters than they ought to. Took sometime for us to get our water and bowls, but it was smooth sailing once we got them. Might want to avoid this location if you must eat now as you will not get your food quickly.

The stories about the bad service here aren’t exaggerated. The waiters at Genghis Grill are really bad,(I waited 15 minutes to see a waiter once I got seated) but try not to let that ruin your meal. If you’re unfamiliar with the concept, you choose the raw ingredients via a buffet, and give them to the Mongolian grillers to fry them. If you’re a little bit adventurous and know your way around the spice rack, this could be fun. I enjoy the food so I’ll keep coming back. But be prepared for the worst waiters in Memphis(and that’s saying a lot.)

I definitely like the concept of Genghis Grill. It’s sort of a buffet a-la-cart arrangement where you can add your veggies, meats, spices, and sauces to create a starry entrée. The food was good but I do have a few complaints. When I first entered their were hardly anyone in their yet we waited 6 – 8 minutes to be seated. Secondly, they have reduced the size of the bowls that they give from when the restaurant first opened so you are basically getting less. Third, they have removed shrimp from the order buffet and have imitation crab meat which is a complete turn off. Lastly, the fish that they have was very bland and tasteless. If it wasn’t for the spices and sauces I added, it would have been worse than mediocre. I usually do a shrimp and chicken combination with either brown rice or noodles but because shrimp was no longer on the buffet I was forced to do chicken and fish(I’m anti-pork). All in all, I am going to give this location and its food and service a 2-star rating. I have enclosed a picture to give you an idea of what I had. Dine at your own risk.

Wow! We love Genghis Grill but this one made us think twice! First, the waitress was not friendly. Next, I went to grab a reciepe card and out popped a roach! It wasn’t near the food so we ate anyway. The food was good as always but my tea was super sweet and I had to ask to get some more ice. The waitress looked as if we were a bother. Oh well, we won’t be back.

Genghis Grill is… okay. They idea is great, really… but it’s so expensive for such a small bowl. And slow… I’m sure I’ll return, for my husbands sake, but it was just okay.

While visiting family in Memphis it was suggested we try GG. I’m not much for stir fry but, we went along with the group. I did not like it at all. The service was poor. Our server never checked to see if our food was OK and we had to ask for a drink refill. The food was just fair. if you’ve never been to a place like this you don’t know all the ways to fill the bowl, add sides and sauces. The server was not at all helpful with suggestions either. I was not impressed and will not waste time trying this one or any other one like this.

I wasn’t going to write this review because I kind of hate reviews like this. But, here I go anyway. I was so happy when I found out GG was going to be opening so close to my office. I figured this would be a great place to get a somewhat healthy lunch on days when I wanted to treat myself. After they opened, I waited a few weeks to let the crowds die down and I went in to place a to-go order. I had already gone over the online menu and knew exactly what I wanted. Evidently some locations do online ordering. But the Winchester doesn’t — or at least didn’t then. So I go in and right off the bat have a bad interaction with the hostess. I say I’d like to place a to-go order and she rudely tells me that I «have to» see the bartender. First of all, I don’t «have to» do anything. I’ve worked in enough service jobs to know that customer service 101 is never tell the customer what they have to do. But, that’s a minor quibble and I could have let it go. What really got me is that I went to the bar and stood there for 10 minutes watching the bartender count and recount and recount her till(I really felt she was doing it on purpose just to avoid paying attention to me). Meanwhile other servers were milling about and not one person acknowledged me. I finally gave up and left. I should say that I was there 20 minutes after they opened. Why is she counting her till then? That should be done 20 minutes before opening — not after. That shows a lack of management. Maybe they’ll get a good manager one day. I’ll try it again, but only if I find that they take online orders.

I really liked the Genghis Grill on Germantown Parkway. It’s just always so crowded. When I learned they opened one closer to me on Winchester Road I was excited. Since it recently opened it wasn’t very crowded on a Thursday around dinner time. Same great prices and selections at this location. The portions are great even if you don’t get the bottomless bowl and we always end up taking food home with us. For most of our dinner the service was great. Our waiter checked on us and made sure everything was ok. They’re careful with cooking my husband’s food(he has a seafood allergy). I asked about the ice cream and they said they hadn’t gotten any of the special flavors yet. The waiter was very apologetic and I figured they just opened so it was no big deal. We took some more time to decide on our dessert and then couldn’t track down our waiter. No, that isn’t entirely true. I saw our waiter, tried to wave him over but got no response. After about 15 minutes we got a little frustrated(hey, I’ve got a 2.5 year old) about waiting and tried to find our waiter to just get the check. We tracked down another waiter who went and got our waiter. Still took him another 5 minutes to come over at which point he apologized for the wait but someone had misplaced a credit card and they were looking for it. Now if my credit card were lost I’d want people looking for it, but perhaps he shouldn’t have told us that the staff lost someone’s card. There were also enough other waitstaff there that someone should have at least attended to our table… the tables around us still saw their waiters. I love the food and I’m hoping the service is better next time.
