In a nutshell, it was not a great experience.
I really hesitated to write this review about Dr. George, because reviewing doctors is an uncomfortable thing. You want to like your doctor, and you want them to like you, to a degree, in order to get the best care possible. And, during a time when your health is giving you trouble, you really need someone who will listen and who you can trust.
I’ll keep it simple, in case he was having a bad day. Basically, I waited 1.5 hours to see him. Most of my tests weren’t in and he gave me random results. I gained nothing from the visit that I’d waited a month for, because I feel that he hadn’t really looked at my information. It was awkward, at best. Any questions I asked, he was a bit condescending in his response, and acted sort of like he was doing me a favor by answering. And, when I pressed for more help for my health issues, he said, ‘I have four patients waiting.’ I can honestly write it was the first time I’ve ever heard something like that from a doctor, and it was almost funny. It was a ‘Is this real life?’ moment. I should have known that it was a weird day in the office when the guy that just came out had a ‘What did I just experience?’ attitude with the staff. He kind of shook his head, smiled, and sighed as he left. I understand, fella. I understand. The appointments were very obviously double-​booked that day, and I implore doctors to not do this if it makes them stressed/​rushed. It shows.
To be fair, my first appointment with him was not bad. He did seem to regard me with amusement, almost, when I was describing my symptoms, but he was nice enough to offer the name of a meditation teacher, which I thought was nice. Also, his nurse is extremely kind. So, what happened between that appointment and the following? Who knows. All that I know is that my health is too important to deal with a doctor with that inconsistent bedside manner.
Eventually, I was diagnosed with an infectious disease with the help of another informed, patient physician. Said physician acknowledged that Dr. George’s battery of tests that he ordered was excellent, however, he does not delve deep enough into Lyme disease, unfortunately.
