I have been trying to meet up with Todd Bourne of Memphis Dawgs for quite some time now, but the timing has never been right. Today, it was destiny. He had parked his hot dog cart right in front of my work, so I just had to walk right over and grab a dog. Todd is a super nice guy and treat all of his customers like they are his best friends. Not only is Todd great to chat with, he awesome serves up a solid hot dog. All of his hot dog’s are 100% all beef, ¼ pound Nathan’s hot dogs. They are huge. He serves them up on a soft, hot hotdog bun and tops the hotdog with the toppings of your choice. He suggested I try the Memphis Dawg, which has onions, coleslaw, and his secret BBQ sauce. This man knows what he is talking about, so I went with it. The hot dog was delicious. It was cooked perfectly, and they toppings went very well together. It was a messy work of art, that I successfully at while driving home. Memphis Dawgs makes its rounds in the food cart world. Todd is at a differrent location every day. He keeps his customers up-to-date though, so you don’t miss out. He posts daily where he will be located on Twitter and Facebook. I highly suggest you track Memphis Dawgs down and get your hands on a hotdog yourself. They are a yummy, quick, and cheap lunch. You can have it your way too.

Wow! There’s nothing like a hot dog from a cart! Especially when it’s made to order. I know there was a name for mine, but I forgot it — relish, sour kraut, onions, spicy mustard and another secret ingredient or 2, topped the fat Nathan’s all-beef dog. What can I say but delicious? These are good sized, quarter pound dogs, but I could have wolfed down three more. You will like Todd B the vendor too. A big part of the pleasure of this eating experience is his enthusiasm about his product. You will find the Memphis Dawgs cart Downtown, on Poplar and other locations. Follow @MemphisDawgs on twitter for daily location updates. Now on my list of favorite lunch stops.

In Dawg We Trust Those who quest for culinary enlightenment, seek no further! The ¼ lb all-beef Nathan’s from the Deacon of Dawg’s mobile mission is, indeed, worthy of praise. Divinely prepared, they are sure to pass judgement; and from the most reverend Todd’s stainless steel altar comes forth a bounty of toppings to delight the spirit(and palate). Go forth and spread the word, for this Dawg is an awesome Dawg!

My sister and I were visiting family in Memphis and couldn’t leave without trying Memphis Dawgs after hearing so much about them. And I’m so glad we did! The dawgs were so big and juicy and Todd(the owner) was Great! What a personality he has! I asked Todd for a simple dawg with mustard, relish and sauerkraut and he talked me into adding celery salt and some BBQ sauce. «Memphis style» Todd said, and it was one of the best hot dogs I’ve ever had! Thanks Todd, can’t get that here in Los Angeles; the dawg or the hospitality… Keep up the good work and Good Luck with Memphis Dawgs!

So I was home in Memphis for Christmas, and my Dad would not stop talking about this man in a Santa suit selling Hot Dogs on the side of Poplar Ave! Pshh… Whatever Dad! He kept going on, and on about how great these hot dogs were, and how nice the man was who was selling them! All this talk about hot dog stands on the side of Poplar Ave got me curious, so me and Dad hop in the car, so he can show me what the hype is all about! As we drive down Poplar, I see a man in the distance, dressed as Santa, waving a hot dog in the air with some tongs!.. I couldn’t believe it! Dad wasn’t just pulling my leg!.. and let me tell you. these hot dogs are LEGIT!.. They are HUGE Nathans. all beef hot dogs. served up super hot, on a soft, warm bun, with whatever kind of fixin’s you like! We ended up getting about 12 for my entire family, and brought them back to the house, and within minutes, they were devoured… and yess. I ate two! I also like the fact that your supporting a hardworking, local guy, out trying to make extra money for his family. He told us he also can be hire to cater parties and special events! Im pretty sure his name is Todd Bourne and when I went to his cart it was at the corner of poplar and yates in front of Samuels Furniture, he may have moved since then, but im not too sure!

I love working in downtown Memphis, and another great perk is that I can walk outside and find the Memphis Dawgs food cart just steps away. A regular combo with chips, hot dog and drink costs $ 3. Yep, $ 3!!! I can scrape that up from the change I’ve collected in my desk drawer. Love it! If I’m feeling a bit famished, I often upsize to a large combo, which is a larger Nathan’s all beef Dawg. All of this for $ 5. You can even buy dessert(cookies) for $ 1 each. The owner is super friendly and caters private parties too.

There’s something that absolutely fascinates me about food carts. Mobile food? Yes please. It’s so odd, but yes, I will gladly admit it. I was surprisingly pleased to see that Memphis has its very own food cart! Located on one of the four corners of Main and Union on weekdays you can find the Memphis Dawgs cart. Oh so delicious! Here, you can get a meal of a hot dog, chips and a drink for $ 5 and some change. After hearing so many great things about this hot dog dude I finally decided to give him a shot. He insisted that I try the hot dog with kraut and«special sauce»(think BBQ sauce but a little less thick in consistency). It looked seriously awful, but once I took a bite, I smiled while I chewed. This guy knows hot dogs and he is awfully friendly to boot! Once, a work friend went down with her credit card to purchase dogs for everyone in the office only to find out he didn’t have his credit card machine with him that particular day. Get this– he told her that her credit was good with him anytime. Yes, he offered to allow her to pay for the meals on a different day all together. Sure, she frequents his cart, but that takes some serious trust, and serious business skills I might add. Love this man and his cart! Now everyone else should hurry up and hop on the food cart bandwagon! I see it, can’t you? Downtown Main Street, lined up as far as the eye can see with food cart vendors offering up all different cuisines. Heaven is what that would be my friends!
