The warm humid air, due to the AC not working properly, was quickly forgotten once the food hit the table. I ordered the stuffed turkey burger with everything on it with a side of sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries where delicious and the burger might just be the best stuffed burger I have ever had! The homemade coconut cream cake is unforgettable. I will definitely be coming back!

Unbelievable. Had the fish sandwich with mac & cheese and greens on the side. First-timers, know that you will have to wait a little while for the food to be prepared, but it is well worth it. Everything was absolutely delicious and the service was impeccable. I can’t wait to return.

Visiting from Los Angeles and needed food before hitting the road. My family and I stopped at Mot & Ed’s for some food when we noticed the food pictures on Unilocal. We had the fried chicken, smothered pork chops, fried fish, black eyed peas, cabbage, Mac and cheese, yams, and greens. Everything was off the chain. Don’t let the LA city of origin fool you. My roots are in the South. I couldn’t find a decent plate of soul food in LA, so this food was a gift. Ed, the owner, greeted us personally and prayed for our family as we deal with a pending lost of our matriarch. This is a family establishment. The service won’t be as speedy as corporate restaurants, so talk with family and create community in the space. Take your time, laugh, and enjoy this great food.

The restaurant doesn’t look like much from the outside, but once you sit down, the staff are incredibly welcoming. They are some of the nicest people I have ever met! The food takes a while to cook, but they warn you ahead of time, and it is worth the wait. Their stuffed burgers are fantastic with any combination of fixings you like, inside and out. The buns were perfectly crisp and buttery, and the sweet potato fries were, honestly, some of the best I’ve had anywhere in the country. The prices were very reasonable too. Even if the food was terrible(which it most certainly wasnt) I would still eat there again just for the friendly staff. Edna even came out to greet us while we were eating — like a said: a very friendly atmosphere.

I always wondered what Mot & Ed’s was… I was delighted to learn that it was a restaurant and being featured in the 1st ever Memphis Black Restaurant Week. I put it on my Thursday evening dinner list and prepared my tastebuds for the stuffed turkey burger but almost didn’t go when I heard some of the reviews(slow, running out of food, etc.). My colleague decided to join me on the adventure and reassured me that it was worth the try. So HAPPY, we did. The service was great… A little slow but still great; it’s sort of like your family cooking in the kitchen for you. The stuffed turkey burger exceeded my expectations. The desserts and sides were good, too. And the special cocktails… Kisses from the kitchen-ooh la la. I will definitely be coming back here. I want to try some other menu items and experience the entertainment. Ms. Edna also took the time to come out and thank us for coming. I think our server’s name was Judy and she was super attentive.

Well I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this food is not as yummy as expected. Visited for #MBRW(MemphisBlackRestaurantWeek), and it was moderately quiet. A few people were seated already eating and I was like the 2nd person greeted. Maybe it was a little unorganized but my order was taken and I had to wait at least 15 to 2o min. Unless they are cooking these sides as it is ordered, there is no excuses for that amount of wait time on sides. Now the taste is another story… PuH, Puh, Puh!!! If bland had a middle name it would be this. No season what so ever. I am a pescatarian so I could not try what everyone is raving about, the stuffed angus or turkey burgers! Ugggh, so frustrating. And all of this was 13.00 for 3 sides and a flapjack cornbread plus cake. IDK, maybe my taste buds are little picky, but this may be a spot on my «DONT» List.(shrugs)

Best burger in town as far as I am concerned! The stuffed burger is to die for. Choose between an angus or turkey burger with a number of options for the stuffing. I love the angus and my daughter loves the turkey. The stuffed burger takes longer, but is worth it. I’ve also tried their other menu items. This is the soul food you have been looking for. I also love a bunch of different vegetables they offer. It’s all written on a chaulkboard and is crossed out if they run out of anything. The owner, Edna, and her waitress, Joyce, are both awesome. You won’t find more kind, friendly, and warm folks anywhere. This is my go to place. Love it!

This place gets 5 stars for outstanding soul food(that’s «home cooking» for you Yankees). This is one of those unique places where you can taste«passion» in the food. Edna loves to cook and it really shows. Best turkey burger I’ve ever had. Very moist and juicy not dried out like most. My wife says these are the best greens she’s ever had(and she’s picky about greens). No canned veggies here. Each dish is cooked to order so if you’re in such a rush that you can’t wait for or just too impatient to accept the fact that a cooked to order meal takes longer than drive thru, then Union Ave has plenty of options better suited to your needs. However if you want some wonderful down home cookin made with love, go see Edna at Mot and Ed’s! This was our visit but we will be regulars!!!

I took a crew of hungry men and we had a true feast! The stuffed burgers were everything you’ve read about them and more. The Soul Food was absolutely outstanding! Fried chicken was like Grandma used to make only better! Smothered chop and greens were equally great. Yams were perfect and the hit of the night was fried cornbread. Topped all of it off with homemade coconut cake… delicious meal. We will be back on our next trip to Memphis which we hope will be soon!

I had to see what the stuffed burger was all about… and it was more than amazing! ! I got the turkey burger loaded with cheese, spinach, mushrooms, onions, bacon, peppers, jalapeños and egg on top. OMG! So super delicious! ! Everything was cooked to order very fresh with a side of sweet potato fries and okra and I fell in love with this restaurant. .the process does take awhile so be willing to be patient. Ok! So, I went here for a dishcrawl and the food was good, but it was a sample size, so I needed more to give a better review. OMG! It took me almost two years to return. I had the stuffed burger, and it was to die for. The BEST stuffed burger that I’ve ever had. And one of the best burgers in Memphis. I had it stuffed with almost everything(mushrooms, spinach, bacon, cheese, jalapeño peppers, onions…). You can get fries or any side. I got the okra. It was good, but the burger was awesome. I mean I want it now. If someone wants a burger recommendation, this is one of mine. Then!!! The owner remembered me from a previous review. How awesome is that??? When I posted a picture on social media, my friends told me that I was keeping a secret of this awesomeness to myself. Go there!

The food is amazing and the people running the place are just as amazing. It’s very rare to find such friendly, helpful and hospitable restaurant owners/staff — Edna made our day. The stuffed burger and fried Okra also made our day. Go to Memphis so you can go to this restaurant.

This place deserves a 4.5 but… Unilocal has no .5 system still. SMH. Anywho, this place is great. I had a turkey stuffed burger and it was amazing. One of the best burgers I have had in Memphis. Cheddar on the outside and pepperjack stuffed inside. BRILLIANT! Great service as well.

My husband and I wanted a bite to eat on a cool Saturday afternoon. Mot and Ed’s was the warm spot for our lunch because of the laid back atmosphere. Ms. Edna and Ms. Joyce are very nice. They definitely make you feel at home. We had the stuffed turkey burger, and it was great. You have the option of adding sautéed onions, roasted peppers, grilled onions, fresh spinach, bacon, jalapeños, and egg(outside). There are numerous side offerings ranging from pinto beans, onion rings, fries, potato fries with your choice of seasoning, greens, mac and cheese, fried okra, squash, or cole slaw.

Stumbled upon this little gem of a restaurant while visiting Memphis for work. My coworkers and I were hesitant at first looking at the restaurant from the outside but don’t judge this restaurant by it’s cover, simple soul food menu but go there for the stuffed burgers. You can get it either in Angus beef or turkey burger and have it stuffed with cheese, peppers, jalapeño, onions and spinach. Really fantastic burger, stuffed items are grilled and provide a punch of flavors. Burger is juicy with your choice of soul food sides, or seasoned fries. Definitely worth a visit for the stuffed gourmet burgers, if I’m back in Memphis will definitely be coming back to have some fantastic stuffed burgers!

Winner, winner, chicken dinner!!! Errrr or winner, winner, stuffed burger… Sirloin or turkey, you can either way and stuffed with pretty much anything you want. My choice? Cheese of course… lots and lots of cheese with spinach. And it was delicious. This must still be a relatively new Unilocal find because I can’t believe there are only 2 reviews. I spoke with the owner yesterday and she was a complete doll face. So sweet and she sure knows how to cook some soul food. And they have LIMABEANS! My absolute favorite veggie and she does it right. The mac and cheese rocked my face off too(not too cheesy). They also have a mini stage for poetry readings and music nights. I can’t wait to come back!
