When our son was born a few years ago my wife and I didn’t know WHO we wanted as our long-term pediatrician, but we knew what KIND of pediatrician we wanted. We wanted a doctor that had the feel of the long-lost small town family doctor like you might think just walked off the set of the Andy Griffith Show or out of a Norman Rockwell painting. One that had enough concern when necessary, but wasn’t ordering dozens of tests and causing unnecessary stress for a sore throat or common cold! While I can’t give my opinion on the other pediatricians in the practice, as we have never taken our son to anyone besides Dr. John Ellis, I can say that it would be safe to assume that anyone as great as Dr. Ellis would not associate himself with fellow practice members that are below par. I know what you’re thinking, «Well, that’s great and all, but I want someone who is up-to-date on current medical knowledge and procedures, not someone«old fashioned.» Hold your horses there! Dr. Ellis not only has one of the best and most relaxed«bedside» manners of any physician I know(and I know a lot) but he is the former Chief of Pediatrics for Baptist Memorial and a former President of the Memphis & Mid-South Pediatric Society. That is a resume that I can approve of! In a day and age when it seems that a large percentage of newer and younger physicians have become complacent and just throw prescriptions down a patients throat and call it «doctoring», Dr. Ellis is a diamond in the rough. I just hope I’m not condemning myself to long wait times when you all rush to make appointments after reading this! Be well! *I am marking that the office is not«by appointment only» only due to the fact that they do have morning hours several days a week for walk-in. You should, of course, call the office and check as to what days and times the walk-in hours are offered.
