Love to pop in for drinks and dinner and always super happy!!! When you don’t have time to cook, Black Horse is the answer.

The Black Horse Pub is one of my top 5 restaurants ever. All the food, sauces, and desserts are made fresh and the food is amazing. The manager, Mike is amazing too. Always a fun and friendly staff and a great atmosphere. I recommend the pub over the tavern any day. This place is a must see!

My family and I went to the tavern last night for Christmas Eve. DONOTGOHERE. They have the worst service on Christmas Eve. Terrible service

UPDATE: After e-mailing corporate, I received an immediate response from Michelle, the Field Marketing Manager. Honestly, I just expected an apology(which of course, I got) and I was prepared to pay for the glasses and try again, if they promised to get them to me in time. But then, she went even further than that. Michelle offered, to not only to ship the glasses in time for Christmas, but, also, at no cost to me! She wanted to make it right. Talk about impressed! That, ladies and gentlemen, is great customer service. Thank you again Michelle, for saving Christmas :)

At this point I’ve been here quite a few times since I work so close to this place. If you sit down in a booth or table, you’ll get better service vs. the bar. The place was so busy over the holidays that they ran out of cinnamon sticks for the hot apple cider, which is my favorite beverage. The waitress Geri is super nice and wonderful. I had the fried calamari as my appetizer and that was okay, nothing special. As my entrée I had the chicken pot pie. If you love comfort food, this is for you. In the past, I thought their fried chicken was delicious as well as their pork loin.

Over priced and the service was horrible. Started with guacamole and chips. For the price forget it. Butternut squash soup was watery, veggie panini I was soggy and cold in the middle. Waitress was very hard to understand and seemed to not have a method to her service… kept bringing me water when I kept asking for iced tea. The seating is so tight you can’t help but bump into people.

The appetizers were delightful, the server is very kind but we have been here for 1.5 hours and we are gleefully looking forward to our food.

If you go here, you have to try the fried chicken! It’s amazing! Service is great, and the interior is very warm and cozy on the pub side. We will definitely be back.

Love the Pub! Good food, GREAT service! Been going here for over 10 years. I personally prefer the Pub to the Restaurant.

Trying to have a pleasant Sunday lunch with the family. Why does this restaurant refuse to substitute fries with Salad without charging $ 5!!! Why do you feel the need to treat your customers with such disdain? All other restaurants do this without blinking an eye.

Thursday night I was offered the opportunity to go to the Grand Café in Morristown or the Black Horse Pub. I chose the Black Horse as the American food that they serve is quite enjoyable and the atmosphere though a bit loud has a high end rustic feel that is altogether conducive to the bon homie of dinner with a friend or two. The pub was celebrating Octoberfest and had a number of special entrees. I ordered the Knock and Brat or some such thing. The dish came with sauerkraut, cabbage and smashed potato. I enjoy special events as it provides an opportunity for the kitchen to exhibit their mastery add to the celebrations on the calendar. If you have not been to the Black Horse Pub and are going there for the first time, do yourself a favor and stay to the regular menu. You will not be disappointed and save your venture into German cuisine for the Black Forest Inn at Stanhope or for Café D’Alsace in NYC.

I have only ever dined in the Pub so this review is solely for that experience. I love that in order to sit at the booths you have to take a step up. It really makes the dining experience seem more intimate and private. The menu is diverse and the food always come out fast and is delicious. They have a great bar menu, as well. The service is always wonderful, and the complimentary valet parking is a nice touch.

My fiancée’s grandmother, in her fear of causing me gastrointestinal distress by feeding me something laced with wheat, asked to come here as we came to town again to pick her up. Remembering my last experience, I had low confidence in the Pub’s ability to deliver gluten free options. This time, I proved it. After ordering a wedge salad and a burger with no bun, with my typical warnings of my diet. I left here sick for the day. My assumption is one of two things: either they use breadcrumbs in their burgers or as a pub they’re are just too many chances for cross-contamination. That aside, my server didn’t seem to understand my issue when I ordered, so I’m not sure how my needs were communicated to the kitchen. I was disappointed before, but I will avoid the Pub in the future. A diet with high sensitivity to gluten /celiac means that a visit to a restaurant must provide high confidence. In both of my visits, they failed to deliver that.

Overall a great spot in Mendham. I usually sit at the bar and grab a few drinks. I have not eaten here in years so I will rate based on my bar experience. The bartenders are always friendly and attentive. They notice when your drink is getting low and they always give me a fresh glass with each drink. They never refilled my old glass. A nice touch when you want a cold beer. The food coming out to others looks really good. The menu is large and has many options. There always is a snack on the bar. They have valet parking. If you do not wish to valet your car, your have to park across the street in a public lot.

Have to give some love to «The Pub.» My folks moved to Mendham in 1981. We discovered The Pub soon thereafter. And for all these years I’ve been enjoying the French Dip, great burgers, crab cake, fries and onion rings. Great brew and a fabulous chocolate cake. I used to have the pub steak long ago but it has gotten very expensive. Arthur’s which is nearby does it better for less. Many changes have been made over the years but the old place still feels like home. Ask for Kathleen. She’s the best.
