Mendocino Coast Reservations

I see someone else had a nasty experience with Jeri and Teri.
My family and friends had rented a certain house on the coast for over 6 yrs from the owner. Last year, MCR took over the property, and as we had struck the contract with the owner, we did not have to deal with them except to pick up and drop off keys.
The rental was for 4 nights, leaving on a monday morning. We recieved a phone call on monday morning from Jeri, stating that we were supposed to be out of the house the day before, and we were basically squatting. I might add, her tone and implications were very unpleasant and unprofessional. I informed her that we had a contract with the owner for the 4 nights, and were on schedule to depart before check out time that day. She gave me some grief about the cleaning crew not having enough time to get the house cleaned for the next tenants, so I told her we would do what we could. Meantime, I checked my contract and it was as I said. 4 nights.
We hustled thru, got out early to help with the cleaning crew, and dropped off the keys telling Jeri once again about the contract between me and the owner. NEVER once did she assume they may have been wrong, and her attitude was as before when we dropped off the keys.
I assume she found out we had the house for 4 nights from the owner, as I emailed her the agreement when I got home, but we never heard boo from her about an apology or understanding they were at fault in this matter.
Fast forward to may of 2012. We reserve the house thru MCR this year, 4 nights again, and everything goes fine, except the hot tub had NO chlorine tablet in it, and when I called MCR, we were unable to reach them. We searched the house but to no avail. Needless to say, after 4 days, the hot tub was pretty sad. We informed them of this when we dropped off the keys, and told her there were NO tablets in the house.
Several months later, I made a request to rent the same house in 2013, and recieved this email from Jeri.
Hi Dennis,
«I am sorry to have to tell you this but after your last stay in Sunset Way MCR has decided not to rent to you any longer. Over the years the condition that you have left the house and hot tub in has gone from bad to down right nasty. The condition that you left the hot tub in last year was by far the worst that MCR has seen in all of its years in business. We spoke with the owners last year after your departure and they are fully aware of our decision.
We take pride in all of our homes and will not allow guests to return if they are disrespectful of our homes. »

In the last 7 yrs of renting this house, we have never had any problems, nor replies from the owner about not leaving the house in proper condition for final cleaning, nor problems with the hot tub. Needless to say, when I tried to get ahold of MCR and clear this matter up, they refused to answer my emails. My family and friends are adults, that respect others property and honor contracts. We have never abused this house, or any others we have rented on the coast. 3 children that were in the hot tub that weekend all broke out with red bumps 2 days after returning, and I suspected it might have been the tub, but did not push things.
Given Sammy S response above, it appears that MCR is more than willing to attack customers for what is their responsibility to take care of. I WOULD NOT USE THIS COMPANY! You may have good luck, or you may get slandered about issues that were THEIR responsibility to take care of.

My family rented a house from Mendocino Coast Reservations and the service was bad from the beginning. Terry the woman who sits at the front desk was soooo rude to us when we came in to check in. We arrived at 2:45 and check in is at 3:00 pm. She YELLED at us for coming in early. Since we did not know what the traffic was like we reached the office 15 min. early. So we went down by the water so that we can destress from her attitude. Came back at 3:05pm and got our keys. We drove down to our rental which was about 9 miles away to find out the house was dirty and the linens were filthy.
We did not call her because we did not want to ruin our 3 day vacation by her attitude. We laundered our own linens in the washer and dryer in the house and enjoyed the rest of the time we were there.
Later we met up with friends who also rented from MCR and they had a similiar experience except Terry proceeded to tell them about us and how we were so rude to come in early to pick up our keys. Now this is not professional to talk about other clients and scream at the clients that are utilizing your business.
I would never ever use this place again and I would advice everyone else not to.

We drove into town with no idea of where to stay. We were thinking a B&B or something low key, but ended up wandering into MCR and renting a house for a couple of nights. The ladies of MCR were super helpful and friendly! Lucky for us, an AMAZING house in Little River was available (#20, «Sea Arch») and for a very reasonable price. They even have DVDs you can borrow for your stay! I picked up Curb Your Enthusiasm Season One because Dad’s never seen it before, and I knew he’d enjoy it. Plus, we definitely needed some entertainment since the house was in a gorgeous yet REMOTE location. I.E. no cell reception. They also gave us a phone card to use at the house with 120 minutes on it! I couldn’t have been happier with their services and would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to stay somewhere unique in the Mendocino area.
