Fino Fino (meaning «fine») takes it’s name from the fine grade of Montecristi Panama hats which are Fino Fino’s specialty. But «fine» also defines the quality found in all of the hats offered here for both men and women. Most hats are hand-​blocked (as opposed to machine-​blocked) and made by the finest hatters and milliners working today who use the finest materials. It is also a place you can have a custom hat made. A custom hat addresses your head shape as well as measurement to assure the most comfortable fit possible. As has long been said – «Things of quality have no fear of time” – and these are hats to prove that theory.

History

Established in 1994.

As more and more people needed sun protection, owner Carolyn Busch, frustrated with the lack of quality headwear, felt there was a need for what she refers to as «real» hats. Started at Allied Arts Guild in Menlo Park in 1994, Fino Fino moved to Sharon Heights Shopping Center in 2001. Located in the only free-​standing building in the center, the building’s hexagonal shape is reminiscent of a hat box. The center’s ample parking and easy access to Freeway 280 makes it a great location for this specialty store.

Being a fair-​skinned hat-​wearer all of her life she was aware of the on-​going need for sun protection. And as the granddaughter of a Midwest milliner, she knew «real» hats made of quality materials but found there were very few places to buy them. She was also aware that a hat finishes your outfit like no other accessory and there was a whole generation of people ready to make that discovery.
