I used this Hertz facility to rent a car while my car was being repaired. The office team was helpful, efficient and great to deal with. I got a brand new rental to drive and was on my way within 15 minutes of walking through the door. Returning the car was also a good experience. I can definitely recommend.

Worst rental car place ever! I hate that my insurance will only go through this company. They are rude. They never have your car ready even if you reserve it ahead. Very slow service. You will wait hours trying to get a car. Go to enterprise they are much better.

Very unorganized. Small & old facility. State Farm told me that everything was taken care of & all I had to do was pick up the car. Hertz called to confirm & told me the same thing. Then I get there at 7:30, their computers were down and finally when ready. They told me I needed $ 50 to put down on the car. So STATE FARMs member hits me. It’s his fault for hitting my parked car. And I’m out $ 50? WTF? very unprofessional and flat out stupid …
Waited another 45 min. And the girl didn’t want to close her computer screen while this stupid lady was outside talking to someone. «I’m sorry but I’m working on her contract»… While she’s talking & bull shitting? How about you get off your fat ass and tell the bitch to finish getting her car and do some work? GRADE F.

I should have read the reviews on here before going through hertz. They are not helpful and are very unprofessional. The lady was in a bad mood for some reason and was taking it out on customers including us. I will never go through hertz again and would do anything to avoid them. Please save your time and trouble!

Rude, slow, cranky, and unprepared for customers. Stay far away. The lady that works here will take no accountability for the lack of preparation for rentals. Expect to wait a very long time. Eat before you get here.
Addition: after getting the car and finishing the paper work the lady apologized and made excuses for their lack of preparation.
Overall it’s a rental place with stressed out employees and a very slow service. I’m going to add a star because the car we got was clean and new. However I’m still not sure it makes up for the overall experience.

We decided last minute to go to Arizona to our nephews wedding. We called and checked if we could go out of state and checked availability. Costumer service was friendly and helpful both on the phone and in person. I don’t remember the name of the gentlemen we dealt with the entire time but he’s about 6’8″-7′ and SUPER friendly. As long as he is there we will continue to rent from Hertz. My only complaint is the car — after a few hours and the deodorizer smell wore off it smelled like smoke, but that’s not hertz fault. a-​holes aren’t supposed to smoke in the cars.

The worst customer service experience ever! The lady there was absolutely rude. And I don’t say that lightly.
In addition they are incompetent. How complicated can renting a vehicle get? You would be surprised.
Disrespected and offended, I chose not to rent a car from them anyway.

It was a very bad experience. I rented a car to be picked up in Merced and dropped off in Los Angeles. They didn’t have a car. I missed my hotel reservation because of that. They behaved so rude. No more try there.

This is the worst Hertz and overall rental car agency I have ever been to. Inexperienced and rude personnel, very long waiting list, and the facility looks like a bathroom.
Location is horrible too and made me sad every time when I used to go there (that is the only Hertz in town).
Our experiences with them are just keep getting worst…1)I was supposed to go to SFO airport and they delivered the car 1.30hs late 2) I booked a car and went the facility to find out that there was no car for me 3) I booked a car using a promotion from the official Hertz site to find out there is no promotion in Merced.
Overall I think Hertz is one of the best car rental in the world, but the Merced facility is a nightmare and they should put personnel that care about customers or have some experience and actually do their job.
