History
Established in 1952.
In the late 1940’s, local businessman Ray Douglas opened The Pine Cone Restaurant at The Branding Iron’s current location… back then, 16th street was Highway 99. In the early 1950’s Mr. Douglas built a separate building called The Branding Iron Restaurant. By the mid 1960’s the new freeway had been built, so he closed The Pine Cone and remodeled The Branding Iron into essentially what you see today.
In the mid 80’s a major fire destroyed the rear portion of the building, forcing its closure. In 1987, the Parle family bought Restaurant from the Douglas family and, with the help of friends and family, managed to clean and reconstruct the badly damaged building for its grand re-opening in 1988.
Since its reopening, the goal has been to continue the great tradition of the original Branding Iron, as well as to expand the menu to reflect the ever-changing desires and appetites of the thousands of locals and tourists that frequent The Branding Iron yearly
