Mill Falls at the Lake

This is a cute little inn located right off a main street in Meredith, NH. We had a queen room on the third floor. The room was very cozy and clean. We could hear the road noise fairly well, but fortunately in October, the night traffic seemed light. The inn is attached to a small shopping area which was convenient and had a few souvenir type shops. The inn is located within an old mill. There was a café within the mall where we had a nice breakfast before departing. We enjoyed our stay.

Mills Falls (flat on its face). I’ve never experienced so many shortcomings in a hotel stay. Let’s start with the expectation of having a quiet New England escape. Except that our room, like most in the Bay Point property, was positioned directly above outdoor bar and restaurant (Lago). In fact, the speaker that blasts music to the outdoor bar seemed to be affixed to our «patio» that was the size of a small outhouse. Peace and quiet was not an option.
Then there’s the fact that cigarette smoke was blasting out of our air conditioning machine from people smoking below. Ironic, given they make you sign a waiver promising you won’t smoke. These two factors combined made it feel like we were trying to get some rest in a dive bar. There was a moment where I considered sleeping in my rental car.
Then there’s the food. We ate at the Lakehouse Grill where despite the fact we were indoors we were being bitten up by fleas and were swatting them away from our food and drink. The food, of which we could only stomach appetizers, took 45 minutes to arrive, and we watched our server cleaning tables with dirty rags and serving food at the same time.
The only place on the whole property that didn’t have surly, tired, downtrodden staff was the spa. If you’re looking for relaxation, anything that would be considered customer service, or even a decent’s night sleep look elsewhere.

Nice place to stay in the Lakes Region!
The Inn at Mill Falls has a lot going for it. First of all, Meredith is a great town when visiting the Lakes Region. It’s minutes from Fun Spot, the Kellerhaus, Castle in the Clouds and tons of other attractions. It’s literally right on Lake Winnipesaukee. About an hour from Story Land, Mill Falls is a great «base command» for day trips too.
The staff is very helpful and courteous. We requested a pack-​and-​play crib to be put in our room and they supplied a great one with clean sheets.
The hotel itself and the rooms are a bit dated but none of use were expecting an ultramodern experience. The rooms were good size and clean.
A huge plus (and probably responsible for a whole star) is the outstanding indoor heated swimming pool. Clean, cozy and quiet, it is a great place to unwind. After a whole day at Storyland with our toddler, we were all ready for a restful dip. The nice thing is that each time we had the pool to ourselves. The temperature was perfect and our little one loved splashing and kicking. Part of me thinks she liked the pool better than Storyland!
The Mill Falls also has a fantastic breakfast café. Do not miss out on the buttermilk pancakes or french toast with strawberries!
We would definitely stay at Mill Falls again!

I will get to the good stuff. Clean, friendly let us check in early, room request location was met. Nice pool to ourselves and hot tub. Loved it. The bad stuff… For the price,!! The TV is very small and a larger version should be on the wall so everyone can see it, Microwave should be in every room. expensive! *hardly any amenities. Nothing in the lobby for complimentary snacks like fruit, cheese and crackers. We visited church and they have fruit out. The Inn isn’t good enough for fruit lol… Continental breakfast should be included. You used to get muffins now you get squat! There is a coffee tea machine, local restaurants but still, for the price they are cheap! We stayed during bike week and they give you towels and a piece of wood to stand your bike.(nice touch). Our room was next to a back door, Don’t need a key to get through the door (security issue).people smoking in their rooms and the hallway was filled with smoke. And it wasn’t coming from outside the back door… I feel cheated because the Inn was standard with hardly any amenities and we spent close to 200 a night. We get more from a best Western, More for my money in other places. my neighbors spent 150 a night for their standard room. No military discounts offered…, price gouging during bike week? IDK. This Inn is across the street from the lake, no views from a standard room. Very disappointed.

Have left three messages at front desk, trying to get a reservation. What gives? No one manning the front desk on Sundays?

My husband and I spent one night at Mills Falls on the Lake. The room was clean, but could use updating. The bed was ok, but I thought would be more comfortable given the price we paid for the room. When we checked in the front desk person gave us a flier of the activities happening around town, but did not inform us of the restaurants in the area or that you would need to make reservations if you wanted to eat dinner before 9:00 pm. We mentioned that to the person at the front desk as we were leaving and she apologized for that person, stating she should have been more helpful. We thought due to the holiday weekend we would go early (5:00) and beat the dinner crowd. We were told that they didn’t have any openings until 8:30/8:45. After dinner we stopped in at Camp which is affiliated with Mills Falls and waited 15 minutes to get the bartenders attention. They seemed under-​staffed considering it was a holiday weekend.

We stayed here for four nights over camp’s parent’s visiting weekend and could not have had a better experience. From Natalie who took our reservation and made sure that we would be happy with our room, to Kim, who checked us in and make us feel welcomed. The room was cozy and comfortable, and more importantly, it was clean! In addition, the air conditioning was on when we walked in, so the room was a comfortable level. The rocking chairs on the terrace were an added bonus.
We went to the other hotels that are part of this group of hotels and found the staff ever helpful and kind. Overall, our stay was great and I am looking forward to going back.

I stayed here to attend a wedding in the area. I requested an early check in prior to the date as I needed to be at the ceremony at 2pm. I understand that it was only a request but I called a few hours earlier to see if the room was going to be done in time. I was told at 12pm that the room was being cleaned and would be ready by 1pm. I arrived to the inn at 1245 and was told that the room had not been started and that it wouldn’t be ready until 145 or 2pm. Then a different front desk agent or manager walked by and said it would be ready by 3pm (check in time) as if I was gettin the room for free and was lucky to have it ready by then. I explained that I was told on the phone by one of them that it would be ready in time for me to shower and that I would have gotten ready somewhere else. I was given no response. I then asked where I was going to get ready and I was told that there was a bathroom downstairs. I ended up getting ready for a wedding in a men’s room stall.
When I finally checked in, my room had an entrance light out but was otherwise comfortable and clean for the price.
Might be a nice place to stay if you don’t need to speak with the unpleasant front desk staff about an issue or require seemingly unachievable feats such as an early check in. The room rate does not include service. I won’t be returning.

My husband and I had booked a quick one night stay to celebrate our 2^nd wedding anniversary. We even made reference to the reason for our stay in the note along with asking for a later check out.
I had only informed them of the reason we would be visiting so that they would know in advance that this day was important to us. I have spent my whole life in the customer service industry which had lead me to have higher expectation of the service I receive. The woman checking us in made a rude reference to wanting a later check out. Her tone was offensives. As if we interrupted her gossip session. (Which I did. I heard her in the back speaking with a fellow employee. I waited a few minutes, the called out) Along with the way she reminded me of my choice of room type. We chose a reasonable room. We were only sleeping there one night. I have spent summers since I was 2 at the lake and was eager to show my husband places I hold so dear! She told me she would make a note about the check out and dismissed us as if we were peasants.
The room was nice. Clean. Comfortable. And spacious. I have no complaints there. A long with breakfast form the café.
During check out we had a new can’t be bothered eating at the desk receptionist. Who had noticed we weren’t due to check out for another 3 hours she was nice enough to notice but when I responded that I felt as if it was an issue that I slept in. And I was not happy with the my check in experience she simply smiled and handed me my bill.
I never expected for anything in return except an apology. It was meant to be a special little get away, we work complete opposite hours and days so finding the time to retreat is difficult. I am disappointed and I can assure you I will not return. Not to the inn. Nor the shops and any of their restaurants and I will make sure that each year when my large family returns to the lake house they boycott them as well.

I stayed here for two nights the week after the fourth of July. Overall, I have very few complaints. It is centrally located, has lots of shops (if you are looking for the typical tourist souvenirs) and a few good places to eat nearby. It is also very close to the lake and within driving distance from weirs beach and central harbor and a few other neat lake towns. The staff was very nice and there is also a pool and a hot tub.
That said, the room was constantly damp feeling, to the point that i put the books and magazines i had back into the car because the pages were warping. I realize this is not the hotel’s fault as they cannot control what the lake does to the weather, but at times it made the room feel very uncomfortable. The bed was nice, but the blankets were not the greatest and even though they have a spa I looked at the prices and they were ridiculous. overall, it was fine, but if i went back to Meredith again I would not be overly upset if Mill falls was booked and I had to stay somewhere else.

Rustic New Hampshire charm at its best. Wonderful staff and accomodations. The Couples Package was a great deal – one night’s stay including dinner/​dessert, breakfast AND a relaxing couple’s massage. The Mill Falls Hotel was a little too rustic (outdated décor), but the convenient shopping and eateries inside made it worth the while. (Do not miss the candy shoppe!) Staying here in the winter was a great experience; a summer stay may be too hectic and stressful. Dinner at the The Lakehouse was heavenly (candlelit dining, drinks by the fireplace, gratis cheese and crackers, and delicious dessert: try the baked apple IF you have the time, as its made fresh-​to-​order), although the food took so long that we could not finish it (our late reservation time of 8 pm did not help), plus the staff was delightful. Brunch at the Lakehouse was even better (made-​to-​order omelets and belgian waffles). Overall, a romantic, memorable experience. Check it out and unplug for a little while (we didn’t turn the TV on once).

Outstanding visit. Their customer service was impressive. Our fireplace wasn’t working when we got there (we were very excited about this feature). They sent someone immediately to repair it, but then gave us a room upgrade so we were able to enjoy the fireplace. Food at both restaurants was delicious and customer service from the Bell Boy to the waitress to the front desk was delightful.

I had an amazing birthday weekend here! Food and service was excellent, and all of the amenities were outstanding. The town is so cute! I hope to come back soon!!!

No complaints here. A nicely appointed room with a comfortable bed and plenty of shops and dining all within walking distance. The rooms have a small balcony with a couple rocking chairs that face the lake. At $ 300/​night during the summer weekends, its a bit pricey, but call well in advance if you want a room.

Spent a few days here last month and it was extremely enjoyable. The view was amazing, as was the service. The restaurants were terrific. Would make it a point to go back.

Stayed at this inn twice now with my husband and 3 children. The suites are just gorgeous. We felt like we were in our own private log cabin. The décor was true to the log look, cozy fireplace, big tub and gorgeous balcony overlooking the lake.

The pool area is just average. Very small with one small hot tub inside. It was very overcrowded when we there. It does extend to the outside but again very small with a small hot tub as well. The mix between adults and kids makes it a little chaotic.
If you were there for a spa get away and wanted to relax in the hot tub you may be a bit dissapointed with the kids running around.
However I give this inn a great review for the overall experience!!!

We got two rooms for the fourth — one being the corner penthouse with a balcony overlooking Meredith harbor. The view was amazing all the boats lined up in the bay at night was breathtaking plus a front row seat for the towns fireworks display.
Aside from that for what we paid (forced into a three night minimum) almost everything else feel short of expectations.
Beds were not very comfortable — the couches even less so. The décor was dated and showers were kinda weak. Worst of all — bad A/​C I woke up in a pool of my own sweat (to be fair it was over 100 degrees out and i had a nasty sunburn). All in all it was an ok experience — the location and ease of the staff and environment was worth the downsides. Oh and stumbling home on the 3^rd of July –my buddy and I got treated to a pretty sick live band set up in the lobby of Giuseppe’s restaurant.

Through a sweet deal on Travel Zoo my bf and I were able to book a room for a little weekend getaway at Mills Falls. The Falls is actually a cluster of little shops and three hotels (more like large B&Bs) that are all within walking distance of each other (Church Landing being the furthest away). We stayed in The Inn (there is also Chase House across the road).
Our room was cozy and comfortable. It was a nice size for a couple traveling without kids. The bed was comfortable and everything was very clean. The staff was extremely friendly. They even sent up toothpaste when we called down at 11pm realizing we’d forgotten to pack it. We arrived a little late to the Inn and they called to make sure we were on our way and we still wanted to keep our room. Very considerate. I’ve heard of places that will simply give your room away if you are running late.
The Inn, as I mentioned, is connected to some little shops and couple restaurants. It’s really a small village. The shops are cute. Nothing extraordinary but good for some souvenirs. There’s is a waterfall running down the side of the Inn which is a great little photo background.
We were surprised how relaxed we felt the entire time, perhaps because we were finally outside the city and what doesn’t seem calm compared to Manhattan? But it could be the atmosphere at Mills Falls also. It was sweet, quiet, and calm. Exactly what we wanted for our weekend away.
We also used the pool which is on the small size but heated and very clean. Same for the hot tub.
The real star is, of course, Lake Winnipasaukee which is right across the street from the Inn. It’s gorgeous and surrounded by trees. We were commenting the entire time that we’d love to come back in the summer to boat and lay on the beach. We were also told that there is a working drive-​in movie theater down by Weirs beach!
This is a great weekend getaway for couples and families alike. I never would have guessed I’d enjoy Meredith, New Hampshire so much!

i was actually looking for the lakehouse grill review, but there’s none?
anyways, i didn’t stay at the hotel, but i had a wonderful lunch meal there, walked around the inn, by the lake, it was in May and the scenery was excellent.
the food was really nice… enjoyed it by the lake was really romantic — just i was on a business trip, booo… oh well!
heard the place is actually a great vacation spot, either winter or spring — strongly recommend this restaurant for everyone visiting!
