Grants Pass Towing & Repair

Back in August we had to have our Motorhome towed. We used our Good Sam Roadside Assistance and they contacted GP Towing. The tow truck driver bent our front bumper as well as tore the Fiberglass lower corner of our Motorhome on the drivers side. The driver left us the card and told us to call the office to file a claim to get it fixed. September 14^th we emailed pictures, and a few days later sent them an estimate to get it fixed. They are horrible about returning our phone calls and emails, and we are still waiting to get a response about them fixing our damn Motorhome. EXTREMELY unhappy at this point. This is ridiculous.

Great service! Our towtruck driver was Roger, and he was very nice and professional. He got there quickly and got us to a place to fix our tire. Would definitely recommend!!! Thank you Roger!

I have been coming here occasionally, about 2x a year for 7 years… not for towing, but for tune-​ups, oil changes and minor repairs on my Tahoe, Ford Ranger and 2002 motor home.
Always excellent, fast, professional and friendly. Mike Gray the owner is first rate. Give them a try… you will be pleased. Sometimes he does not charge me for minor stuff.

Avoid Grants Pass Towing and Auto Repair.
Had to set up a tow for the following day, as they were busy due to a storm. We asked them to call 15 min prior to the tow to confirm they were coming so we could be at the vehicle for the driver, they said they would. It got close to tow time, no word from GP Towing– so we called them. The lady who answered had no idea what the drivers were doing. She «thought» they were coming to do our tow but had no idea, and said she’d call us back. She never did.
Our roadside assistance called to confirm we received service, when we said no, they called GP Towing, who lied and said they called us but we didn’t answer. Roadside assistance remarked that the lady was short and rude with him. We still needed a tow so he called back up to set another one up, the lady then said she left us a message and she wouldn’t set up a tow. She didn’t call back, and she most definitely didn’t leave a message!
I’m glad some people have had good experiences with this place, and maybe the drivers are great. I wouldn’t know since they never showed up. But, the dispatch/​phone lady is a liar, and rude. There are lots of other towing operations in town– use them first!

I’ve had a few vehicles towed by Grants Pass Towing and now I’m having a vehicle worked on. They always show up on time, are professional, courteous, and seem to be very reasonable with their rates.
To the person (Kate) complaining and giving a poor rating because of your lack of understanding of how to drive. That driver is in no way obligated to slow down, move over, or make any adjustments to his driving in order to let anyone on the freeway. It is 100% the responsibility of the person merging onto a freeway to adjust their speed to enter the lane. Don’t believe me? Try looking up ORS 811.2851 Failure of merging driver to yield right of way. In laymams terms if you «shared a lane» with the tow truck YOU WERE VIOLATING THE LAW, (Class B Violation). You should learn to drive before you slam a company for their drivers lawful driving. Have a nice day.

On 10/​13/​2012, I shared «the road» with one of their drivers… UGH. On the freeway he was too busy doing his «Gangster lean» to let merging traffic on; they had to slow back down and wait for him to pass so they could merge onto the freeway. (Really dude?) Obviously he should have moved into the EMPTY fast lane next to him.
I had to laugh, kinda, since I was on the freeway (behind this twit) from just north of Ashland, all the way into Medford, AND all the way up Hwy 62 towards Eagle Point yet he had that all-​so-​impressive «gangster lean» the entire time!
Bottom Line: Morons behind the wheel equal BAD advertising, especially on a freeway. Not a company I would want responsible for my car. I’m just say’in. Could have been the owner for all I know, but still my vote is NO.

These people are very, very nice human beings. My wife had a blowout in Gold Hill and our insurance called G.P. Towing for roadside assistance. The gentleman tow driver was exceedingly kind and reassuring to my wife, and was conscious of safety on the side of the freeway. His speedy response and helpfulness allowed my wife to get to an important meeting in Medford which she would have been late for otherwise. As a Grants Pass resident I’m proud to have such a great business in our area that boosts our region’s reputation. Very highly recommended!!!

On the way down South we were traveling in a Truck car caravan. The snow was coming down hard and we could barely see 10″ in front of us. On the way down the pass my timing belt broke on an intervention engine. We went with Grants Pass Towing & Repair because for one the driver took us to a motel, and highly recommended their shop. We had no idea who to go through. But after calling around we found everyone else to busy, and not to helpful. The tow truck drive said from my description it sounded like the timing belt broke and he said that it is usually an engine destroying event. So after having the owner of Grants Pass Towing & repair confirm my greatest fears he tell me it will cost at the least around $ 400.00 to $ 2000.00. But he would replace the belt, and run compression test and let me know how bad it was by 2pm that day. So after some gut wrenching hours of waiting he called around 1:30 and his first words were, «you should go out and buy some lottery tickets» OMG I tell you $ 400.00 for a automobile repair never seemed so cheap,
These guys were honest, and they totally could have taken advantage of me. But when I picked up my 01 Frontier I found them to be very happy for me. They knew what I was going through with the worry and they reassured me that I was very lucky to not have any major engine damage.
I would highly recommend these guys to anyone. They were very timely in getting my truck repaired, and honest. Great to know there are still people like these guys around doing business.
So if your driving through Grants Pass and need any work done or a tow, call on Grants Pass Towing and Repair. I cannot thank them enough except by giving this review which I hope will help both the reader and the company.

I had a timing belt on my Kia bust on me and was able to push the car off into a parking lot. My boyfriend found a good Unilocal review for these guys, so we decided to give them a shot. These guys towed my car, and worked their magic to repair it. It took 3 weeks to repair because the parts had to be ordered and it was over the Christmas /​New Yer holidays.
When I picked up my car, I heard a rattling sound. I brought it back and it was a simple little cover that needed tightening (they didn’t charge me for this). Now my car runs so smoothly that it’s even better then I first bought it 115,000 miles ago.
I was dealing with Mike, who is (I think) the owner. I would feel confident recommending this shop to anyone — I felt that they were honest, gave me a great deal on the repairs (and it was a hefty amount of dough!) and just overall take serious approach to business. Very professional, courteous, and seem to have a ton of experience.
NOTE: We thought they were in Grants Pass, but they actually moved to Merlin a little over a year ago. New location: 103 Merlin Rd in Merlin, OR.

I once had a roommate who was a mechanic. A very good mechanic and this is where he worked. I never had this roommate work on my cars, because neither of them needed it! I did need a battery for my Hooptie 89 Ford Escort Pony (named Baz that thinks and acts like a bad ass 4WD) and Mike, the owner at GPT&R gave me one at cost. That was good! I initially spent time at the shop just going up to annoy roommate to see when he was getting off work so we could raft the river, go hang out or whatever. The shop is very clean and well organized with at least 4 or 5 or those rack things that elevate your car so the mechanic can work on it with ease. Fast forward to Christmas season ’06. I’m driving my new, Not a Hooptie car (Mercury Sable, named Mable, that doesn’t need to be worked on) and the damned power steering unit and the serpentine belt just FALL THE F&$K OFF!!! I’m in the middle of SHOPPING people! I’m in a parking lot! This car won’t go without smoke billowing out from under the hood! I park. Okay, so a day or so later I call GPT&R for a tow job to my house. The good folks there were Johnny on the spot and towed me for a flat, reasonable fee since I don’t have towing. I leave the car parked at home and start driving Baz. Come January, the clutch goes out on this baby. I call a local «mobile mechanic» and explain the problems with both cars, tell him I want a new clutch in Baz because I knew (from talking to now ex-​roommate, former employee of GPT&R but still a good mechanic) that my Mable the Sable needs rack & pinion, serpentine belt & power steering unit to run like a top. Sounds expensive to me and I have a 6 months pregnant medically needy daughter and 6 y/​o grandson coming to live with me! Mobile Mechanic convinces me that Mable the Sable would be cheaper to fix, the rack & pinion is fine, etc. & tows it away. He then proceeds to give me a jive ass runaround for weeks, while I’m telling him I need a f’in car!!! A couple weeks later, on a Friday morning, I call GPT&R and speak to Mike, one of the owners, re: Baz & a Clutch. He quotes me a very reasonable price, to include towing from my house to his shop. Tells me he’ll have Baz on the road by the end of the day. After he gets Baz taken apart he calls to let me know I also need a front axle and how much more $$$ it will cost. Since he’s already got the car apart, he’s not going to charge labor for the axle. I say go for it buddy!!! He does and within one day I have a running vehicle that cost far less to fix than what I ended up paying (ransom) to get Mable back after several weeks with mobile mechanic. These guys are honest, professional, helpful and do exactly what they say they are going to do within the time frame they quote you. If something comes up, they tell you right away.
