Not going back for seconds. We tried the East China as a change from our regular place(Jade Palace) but we were quite disappointed by the whole experience. It started with the difficulty my wife had when she called in the order, someone should be able to understand english if they’re going to answer the phone. The rice had a «different» smell & flavor than other places we’ve eaten, the General Tso had a lot of broccoli and a few chicken«knuckle» pieces in the order. The chicken fingers were good but the beef teriyaki was the smallist pieces we’ve ever seen in an order. They didn’t cover more than a quarter of the stick. We tried, we learned, we won’t be running back there.

Tasty, cheap and fast: that gets the job done in my book. Are they the best? Not by a mile but they’re far from being the worst too. The place is small so it’s mostly for take-out. I recommend the pan fried dumplings, lo mein and fried rice. The chicken wings are also quite good. On the down side, their Beef with Broccoli would be better named Broccoli Plus a Little Bit of Beef and a lot of the other meat dishes tend to be smaller than what you get elsewhere. Still, it’s not expensive so you’re getting your money’s worth.

The food wasn’t great. Really salty and the fried rice had a smell like meat that had gone bad. They were friendly there. The service was fast. I wouldn’t go back though just wasn’t good enough. Maybe I ordered the wrong items!

Want a quick place to grab large portions of Chinese food for pretty cheap? This is it. They recently hired an English speaking person to take the phone orders, so calling in is much easier. This place is no Lilac Blossom as far as quality goes. It’s greasier, but the portions are big and the food is pretty darn good. I’ve personally never waited more than 15 minutes for the food. My go-to meal is the mooshi shrimp with an egg roll appetizer.

East China will do in a pinch depending on what you want… and if you’re OK with them messing up your order. Some food has been OK from there, and by OK I mean tolerable. The Wonton Soup is decent, the Steamed Dishes are OK and the meat isn’t gummy or mushy. The Fried Rice is often dry and not fresh. Last time I went out on a limb and decided to try the Szechuan Lo Mein. It was burnt. Tonight I ordered Steamed Chicken and Vegetables. I got what I can only presume is Chicken and Mixed Vegetables, which is not at all what I wanted and I threw it out because I wasn’t driving back there. While I haven’t broken up with East China, it will be a little while before I go back. And when I do I will check each container while inside before bringing it all the way home with me.

We order take out or delivery from East China at least once a week and their food is good. Their best dishes that we get are the Moo Shoo, steamed veg, Gen Tso, Chicken & snow pea and their scallion pancakes are all excellent. They’ve hired a few duds to answer phones lately so confirm they understand your order beforehand as we’ve had a few mishaps.

Really good Chinese. I’m picky and I’ve tried most of them. Food tastes fresh, authentic and flavorful.

I’ve had take-out from East China on three separate occasions. Not the best Chinese Food I’ve had, but still very good. The location is convenient(for me), and the service is good. Their portion sizes and prices represent greater value than many other Chinese restaurants in the area.

Decent and cheap, but very, very greasy so I couldn’t get into being a regular her. Too many superior options in the area.

The food tastes better than many of the Chinese restaurants I tried. It is not as soaked in oil as some of the other places. Their quantity for take out is pretty good.

After shying away from Chicken Fingers due to so many previous bad experiences, I went out on a limb and tried East China’s. While it’s still the same old thing as most places, size and flavor is better than others. The batter is tasty, and very crispy on the outside. They will specialize your order for an additional cost most of the time.

Good place for basic Chinese food & chef’s specials for takeout or eat-in, located in the Merrimack Village SC(Shaw’s) off Exit 11(my crew calls it the Burger King Exit). East China is the sister restaurant of Zheng Garden in Hudson with almost identical menus and slightly different prices. East China offers 20 lunch($ 6.50 before 3:00PM) and dinner($ 8.50) combination plates which include pork fried rice or white rice and choice of appetizer or small soup. The portion size is not ginormous, but filling and can be finished in one sitting if you’re hungry. The shrimp lo mein and the pork fried rice are tasty and typical. The beef teriyaki is tender and very sweet. The food is cooked to order in the open kitchen. Food is usually ready in about 10 minutes after ordering. A Lunch Buffet is offered here Wed-Fri 11:30am-1:30pm for $ 7.35 eat-in/$ 8.25 takeout.
