The automotive service industry can be tough for a female to navigate. AMMCO Mesa made my service experience as good as it can be! Thank you to Tony for such great customer service and not making me feel like a dumb girl when asking questions. The quality and price of the services I had done were wonderful. For me, it’s about feeling like I received quality care on my truck at a reasonable price. Then you top it off with GREAT customer service and AAMCO Mesa is a WIN, WIN! I will drive past other auto repair stores just to go back to AAMCO Mesa.

I brought my car back the other day to get my much needed work done and the payment plan was the best option. My application came back approved pretty quick. I arrived at the shop right at 7am and originally had planned to go home, but decided to wait it out. They got my car in right away and were done is about 3 hours.
I always hesitate when going to a new mechanic because I think they will talk me into work that I don’t really need, but that was not the case. My check engine light is on (has been for about two years) and they write all the codes down that they got from it. When the manager asked if I wanted to get all of them checked out that day (it would take 2 – 3 hours) I didn’t feel pressured when I said no. He understood because of the time and additional expense but let me know that I won’t pass emissions so to get it done soon.
I forgot to use my 10% off Unilocal check in deal but I can use it when I take my car back to have the diagnosis done for all of the other issues. When I mentioned that I forgot to use it, he let me know that they gave me some discounts anyway. After looking over my receipt it was about 10%, which was a nice savings.

I purchased a living social deal here for three oil changes, a transmission flush, and coolant system flush. I brought my car here for the first oil change and had no problems. They changed my oil, told me that my torque converter seal was leaking transmission fluid, and said everything else was ok. What kinda got me was that the guy told me it would be about $ 2,500 to fix the torque converter seal. I thought that was a little outrageous. I wound up calling the dealer a few days later and they quoted me $ 1,500 plus tax. If the dealer… THE DEALER… is quoting $ 1,500 then I know other places are going to be way cheaper. Anyway, whatever, I didn’t care so much about that. They did my oil change and I went on my happy little merry way.
You might be asking… why the 1 star review then Jared? Well… I brought my car back there for the second oil change that came along with my voucher. So they did my oil change, I drove home. Well the next morning I leave for work and I noticed a pool of oil on the garage floor. I figured that they spilled some or something, so I wiped it up and went off to work. The next morning, the same thing happened. Ruh roh!
Thinking Aamco did something wrong, I brought my car to Jiffy Lube while I was on my lunch break for them to look at it. They informed me that the technician at Aamco did not tighten the oil plug all the way and that it was on the verge of falling out. Had it fallen out, all of the oil would have drained out of my car and the engine would have blown. The tech at Jiffy Lube tightened the plug and my garage floor has been dry ever since.
Now, I realize that people can make mistakes and something like this could happen. What got me really pissed is when I called Aamco to tell them. The guy who answered the phone could really give two shits about what I had to say. When I called I wasn’t nasty or mean, I just simply said, «Hey, I was in there a few days ago and you guys didn’t tighten my oil plug and it leaked and was on the verge of completely falling out.» His response was, «Uggggghhhhh, well if it is still leaking, bring it back, ok? Thanks, bye.»
Needless to say, I won’t be back to this location, even if they run other vouchers.

Lets just say $ 3600 that I let them talk me into spending on my transmission I was ready to just toss the truck thinking that about what it was worth why bother. he convinced me I get this done and its a good truck for years to come… 8 months later truck in in the junk yard… hummm transmission DONE. could have gone back for warranty work but that still would not have been free and for what to put more into a truck that isn’t worth keeping? Admit completely I was dumb enough to let them talk me into it but really the work they did was crappy and should he have really been pushing a expensive repair on something not worth what it was costing to fix? Been Burt by two AAMCOs now there is no way you will get me to a third.

I was a little wary after reading the negative reviews on here, but I was desperate and this was the closest auto place to my apartment. I called them at 7am, by 9am they had towed my car and were checking it out. By 4pm Tim had called me and let me know what he found. I opted to not have him check out some of the issues that I already knew about, because the labour to pull out my tranny would have been $ 375, which I just didn’t have. But as soon as I told him to ignore that stuff he dropped it and didn’t push it. The cost to do the diagnostics/​pressure test on my cooling system was $ 95. I expected at least that. When he called me the next day to tell me that it looked like it was a cracked hose with a messed up clamp way in the back, he told me he would replace the hose and clamp and if that fixed the issue all he would charge me was the $ 95 for the diagnostics and $ 36 for the towing. Mind you, my car was completely un-​driveable. So for $ 131 out the door, it would be fixed and would stop overheating. Now while $ 131 may seem like a lot for a busted hose, it’s more than ok for me considering I don’t have the means to jack my car way the hell up to get to all the back hoses etc. Tim was courteous, professional and one of the least pushy car shop guys I’ve come across. I’d recommend this shop to any of my friends.

Did I mention this was the biggest rip off shop in the Valley?

I would never want to take a car back there. After spending nearly 3000 dollars, they never fixed the transmission, it still leaks, and they keep the car for days on end to test. I take it home and it drives terrible. Took the car back twice, and it still was horrible. Went as far as to help them identify the issue, point at it, and they still couldnt resolve it with a bunch of lame exuses, and lies. Said they would call me back with a fix. I never got a call back or resolution. I wouldnt take your car or money here. These guys even give themselves positve posts against this. Terrible service, terrible workmanship or lack there of. And yes I can back up every claim here. They claimed to be the number one Aamco in the nation. If that is the case then all of them are terrible. They went as far as to completely give me the worst experience and impression of Aamco’s everywhere. Beware!!!

Top notch outfit! These guys are the most courteous and professional I have ever known (at this Mesa location).
They will diagnose your cars engine warning light for free — after which, in my case, they referred me to another local shop to fix the problem. The shop that they referred me to was very affordable (in fact, half the price that the dealer quoted after I called them with the «secret code’ — that cottman gave me for free). *Whats up with that anyway — instead of spitting a special code into a machine at a mechanic — how about just dumping plain english onto my laptop via a usb cable? Damn auto industry!
