I mean, it’s a bookstore, so it’s like visiting a museum or something. However, I ordered the book online. The only part I didn’t like is that I had to wait in the huge line, anyway, to pick up the book.

One of my happy places. Yes, Virginia, there are book stores out there. Yes, this is a behemoth. No, it’s not a cozy little place filled with smelly old books. But, it’s filled with books! Real books, not something to download and read on a computer monitor. OK, they have that too. But when I want to read a book, I want to put a real book in my hands and feel the paper as I turn from page to page. Likes: easy in and out; friendly, knowledgeable staff, great selection; fair pricing(well, that is a given these days). Dislikes: their national-chain quasi coffee shop that isn’t a full blown version of the actual thing. I’m not against coffee or pastries. But I’ve never appreciated having this association in a for-profit book store. I’m not sorry, this is a book store. Not a coffee shop. And, sadly, there are any number of coffee shop people who come in and use this store as a library. Barnes & Noble is in business to sell books. It’s not in business to let people sit for hours over one cup of copy reading book after book and leaving them behind. Sorry for the rant. But, I fear this place will disappear like every other book store if people keep using it as a library.

Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon, the store was moderately busy. I wasn’t really looking for anything in particular, but found myself leaving with 5 books. The store is huge. It is well organized with signs above each section. There is a Starbucks inside, so when you walk in there are all the yummy treats are right there. For someone on a diet, it’s hard to walk by and say no. There is a seating area so if you want to sit for a treat or to read, or work there is plenty of room. Like other reviews I found the Customer Service to be seriously lacking. Nobody came up to me to ask if I needed help finding things and the particular cashier I had was unfriendly.

I’ve been a patron here for years and I’ve always found it to be a great experience. Rachel in customer service is my muse, and has repeatedly referred me to GREAT fiction(Andrew Davidson’s «The Gargoyle» and Christopher Moore’s «Lamb», among many others) on personal recommendation. I expect B&N to be a great bookstore, but Rachel and team have always made it a fascinating adventure for me. Five Stars — only because 5’s the limit.

Do you know what? I can’t seem to make my mind up about this Barnes and Noble– I just can’t read it. A couple of times I’ve been in there I’ve had some great service. There was one really nice, shorter girl just a few days ago who sold me a member card who was just really cool and helpful but the majority of the times I’ve been there over the last year I’ve dealt with some bad employees. One time, I was returning an item and the girl who ended up helping me(Adrian) was just pretty blank, and seemed very uninterested in her job. She wasn’t really rude, but seemed unhappy or broody. Then another time I was trying to find a book and got«help» from this lady Rachele? Rachel? Rochelle? at the customer service desk and she was just the biggest b*tch to me. She just could not for the life of her find it in herself to be nice. After she located the book for me I thought I probably ruined her whole week by putting her up to that terrible conquest. Anyways this location sucks most of the time. Barnes and Noble? More like Barnes and A**holes.

Don’t know if it pays to review them, but this store and pretty much all B&N Stores s***! It must be a rule that, no matter how long the checkout line is, only one clerk is permitted to be behind the counter, although each store seems to have at least six cash registers! I read a lot of European car magazines, and I regularly leave thirty or forty dollars’ worth sitting in the table and walking out — especially when I can see other associates standing around talking to each other, or stocking shelves when they could be attending to customers. I tried contacting corporate customer relations, but got blown off. I miss Borders. The company only deserves one star, however, I have rated it two because there is a young woman with long red hair who works the checkout and makes up for much of the frustration. She is warm, bright, attentive and lovely, and deserves to work in a better place.

Place is nice and neat like all Barnes and nobles usually are. Customer service, not so much. They basically help you find the spot to look for your book but when they help you look, they get irritated and start giving you an attitude and try to get you to get something else that’s irrelevant lol. They are very impatient and sarcastic at times. Not saying all staff are just some. They don’t have many selections because each time I go there are usually people at the customer service desk trying to get info on which other locations has what they are looking for. I think they can do better… Love the location though:)

This is one of my favorite locations ever, I love coming here to study, the drinks are good too, and the gift shop is the cutest.

For the first time in my life I was actually left speechless at how poor the customer service was at a business. For those who don’t know, this Barnes and Noble is in a shopping center with several other shops, including an AJ’s grocery store. My brother and I got some coffee and scones from AJ’s while our mom was shopping at some of the other shops in the center. We got a text saying to meet her at Barnes and Noble while she was looking for a book. So we were sitting at one of the tables near the entrance, drinking coffee and eating scones quietly while she shopped. There was another gentleman at the table behind us with a grocery bag and a large iced tea from AJ’s. All of a sudden, a woman walked up to the guy behind us and said: «Excuse me sir, and you two guys can listen to this as well(referring to my brother and me): We sell drinks and snacks at our café. Please don’t come in here with your outside food and beverages. This is our business. Thank you.» This was all said in a sarcastic, condescending, overly polite tone. The guy behind us started chuckling as his wife approached the table. She had just purchased a few items. I told the guy, «I guess your business isn’t good enough. Should have spent an extra $ 2 on an iced tea here!» We all had a good laugh. We met up with our mom, who couldn’t find what she was looking for, and went home to order the book on Amazon.

I’ve been a customer here for years now and this place has a wide selection of books and magazines. I always end up here when my friends bail on our plans to hangout or when my ol lady is looking for vengeance. They do have most of the books and mags I’m looking for so that’s always a plus. I enjoy hanging out at the café and chugging down a coffee while I’m reading up on my latest obsession. The customer service can be alot better but I think i can get by with what little«Attitude fueled Judgmental Toned Customer Service» that they provide. As for the music and dvd section? don’t waste your time unless you like to overpay for things you can find at the wally wally wally world 1 mile east.

This is one of the few bookstores that I still have within 10 minutes of where I live. It appears as though most others have closed shop and gone out of business. This is a rather nice bookstore located inside Dana Park.

This is the place where my husband and I get drinks, peruse books, and play games. It may not be funky or trendy, but it is open regularly(even on Sunday when I grade papers). The people who work there are really nice. If they don’t have a book, they will offer to order it, and they have a pretty darn good game selection for a big bookstore. I even got Pandemic there! I find it enjoyable to see how many teachers I see!

Bought a Nook HD+ today(¾/13)! Thanks to my friend/sista who wanted to treat me to an early birthday gift! This is my first tablet purchase. And my experience was AWESOME! The Nook rep came over after I took my time browsing the area for a while. I inundated her with all kinds of tech-y questions as well as price comparisons vs. value of other tablet brands. The gal knew her stuff! Oh gosh… What was her name… Where’s the receipt… I’ll be «write» back… … Thirteen days later … Oh this is just ridiculous. It shouldn’t take this long to finish a review. But I couldn’t find my receipt! Man, I wish I could remember her name. She was a real nice and helpful lady. Go see her when you are ready to by a Nook… whatever her name is… Oh and the experience got better! The checkout was the smoothest and quickest I ever remember experiencing at B&N! I let the sales lady know that too. I left a happy customer. I got nothin’ else to say.

I really like Barnes and Noble especially now that Borders is closed. I prefer the one at San Tan village — being that it is 2 stories and more books. This one is good, but not great. Normally I have to interrupt staff talking to get help to look for something…

Bookstores are so changed… used to be books, now its only 50% that, 25% kids toys, 20% book products, and 10% music. Cultural shift! Once again I get the B&N club membership pushed on me again: since I only go once at Christmas its not worth it. Prefer small businesses.

Pros: They open at 9am(really important in our upber hot summers). Large selection of magazines with a Starbucks next to the mags. The shopping center it is located in is upscale and clean with decent traffic flow and ample close parking. Cons: The music and dvds are overpriced. The restrooms are back by the music(why would these not be close to the coffee and food??). Has the look and feel of a chain store(which it is), meaning no personality.

I’m reviewing both the bookstore and the Starbucks that is located in the store. The bookstore is huge, great selection on books, and the people there are very helpful. They have great periodical selections and a good place to just relax and read a good article — even though you should really buy it rather than reading it there. Now for the Starbucks in the store. Note: I’m not really a big Starbucks reviewer, but this one is an exception. I was there tonight, reading some periodicals on the comfy chair that’s laid out throughout the store. I kept hearing the guy behind the counter — Daniel(I asked for his name while ordering a cup of java). Anyway, I was amazed at how great he was interacting with every customer walking up to the counter. He was very friendly, charming, and a great sales guy promoting their Venti size drinks for 25¢ more… great tactic! I fell for it. :) After I ordered my coffee and cookie, I sat there observing his people skills and he was just GREAT! The way he spoke to everyone seemed like he knew who they were and by hearing him, I could just tell he was good at talking to people. He did a great job making people’s drink quickly and calling the customer by their name when their drinks were ready. 5 Star for Daniel @ Starbucks.
