Finished product is nice. We have a self cleaner that doesn’t work and they’ve fixed… Grrr. Hopefully the next time they fix it it’ll actually work. Their communication is not good. Work doesn’t get down on time, unfortunately as well.

We are building a new home with Maracay Homes and Blue Wave is their recommended pool company. We have had two appointments with John and so far and we couldn’t be more impressed. We are a newly married couple and told John right away that we were on a tight budget and wanted the most pool for the least amount of money. He clearly explained the pros and cons of each item so we could understand and make the best decisions. At no point did we feel pressured to upgrade or spend more money than we wanted to. The best part of the process so far was seeing a 3D model to scale of what the pool would look like in our backyard. *Will update this review once the pool is finished.*

We are in the process of installing a pool with blue wave. I will update this as the job proceeds but we have had three in person appointments with blue wave. All appointments went very well, you are greeted by a white board welcoming your party and almost immediately someone comes to ask if you have an appt or if you need help. The process with John has been seamless so far and he seems very knowledgeable about the business. I believe he has been in the business for over 23 years. So far very professional 3D renderings and professional attitude and thorough descriptions/​explanations of all questions my wife and I have had. They have a very decent showroom for the types of equipment, stone, colors etc. that they offer. This is a work in progress and I will update when the actual install takes place!

Upon purchasing our new home we were referred by the builder to this company for a pool. We met with John to discuss our needs, goals and dreams for the pool and patio area. We had a size, design and features all ready in our head, we just needed it put on paper to see if feasible.
On our second meeting we had our CAD drawings presented to us and he told us that because of us having to wait for funding after closing of the home, that we should sign the «price lock contract» so that once the new costs for the year for contractors and materials came about, that we would be locked in for last years rates. We asked if we needed to put down a deposit or anything, but were advised that this was just to lock in the prices, and we would get a final contract once we were closer to building.
John was very nice to deal with when we first started this project. However, it took a turn when my husband returned from overseas, where he works for 60 days at a time. We wanted to change the design of the pool a little bit and he revamped the estimate of what the new cost would be, which we realized was not going to be possible for getting financing from. We were referred to another pool company by a neighbor for an estimate on the same design.
We called to advise John at Blue Wave that we were not going to be able to do our pool thru him, because of cost. We were not able to get funded for the amount of the pool design that we planned. Marsha emailed us back to let us know that they were sorry we weren’t able to use them.
We left John a voicemail stating that we found another vendor who was able to give us everything we asked for and included the higher cost travertine full porch along with the Pentair in ground cleaning system, which were not included in the Blue Wave estimate due to cost. We were hoping that John would return our call to see if he could price match. This new estimate was $ 15 000 cheaper with all the extras. However, he never called that day or the next, so we signed a contract with our new company and gave a $ 1000 deposit.
The 3^rd day my husband was driving to the airport to catch his flight to Afghanistan, when John proceeded to call and berate him for switching companies and not giving him a chance to match the price. He said we were «stupid» for choosing someone else, that we were «not going to get good quality for that price,» and plenty of other things. The topper was that he advised us that he «was going to file a cease and desist“order so that our new pool builder couldn’t build a pool for us either. My husband was livid that someone in this industry would berate a client, or potential client and not try to be respectful, knowing that word of mouth is the best form or worst form of advertising.
We took our paperwork to a lawyer, and paid $ 500 to have him look it over, where he advised us and Blue Wave pools that there was no breach of contract, since no money exchanged hands. He advised us that he would reach out to Blue Wave to attempt to resolve this conflict peacefully. John at Blue Wave refused his attempts for multiple calls and finally left a voice mail stating he would «settle for $ 500» and that «payment needs to be in the form of a cashiers check as I no longer trust the Hibler’s.» This voicemail was saved and played to me by the lawyers office.
Had John asked us to at least pay for the CAD drawings, we gladly would have done so and saved ourselves $ 500 in attorney fees and the extra wasted money that John took in the $ 500. (no CAD drawings cost that much)
We reported his company and his horrible customer service to Maracay Homes and advised them to not refer their potential clients to him, as the service when things don’t go his way, gets ugly.
