I bought my first Toyota here last night, and the experience could not have been more positive. The staff were upbeat and friendly, and went out of their way to help me out in every possible way, including picking me up from the airport to pick up my new car. If you’re looking for a Toyota in Tempe or Mesa, this is definitely the place to go.

First time buyers Avoid at all costs. Purchased a used 2011 Toyota rav4with 33k miles on it in November as a first time buyer I felt very pressured by Scott the sales manager who kept trying to use my pregnant fiancée as a way to get me by a car. The car payment we’re going to be $ 500 a month which is really high for me. But Scott and the financial manager mike powell both reassured me that they were going to give me a hundred thousand mile 6year warranty on the car. So I figured I’ll bite the bullet pay for the car for 8 months then refinance and also build my credit at the same time. Well now the car has 35k on it and I have a check engine light on. So I started looking through my original paperwork and can’t find the original paperwork for the warranty, so I call Toyota Financial they then notify me I don’t have 100,000 mile warranty only thing I have is gap insurance. At this point I’m like what’s going on. So I went into the office and talk to Mike Powell and ask him what was going on. That’s when Mike told me we wernt approved for the 75 months we had to knock it down to 72 months. But he never told me we weren’t going to get the Warranty or you lost your hundred thousand mile warranty when you sign for the 72 months. Well if I would have known I was going to be paying $ 500 a month for a car with no warranty that was used I would have never bought the car. And I remember the day that Mike called me and told me about how I wasn’t approved for 75 months but I was approved for 72 months he reassured me everything else is fine you just have to pay 72 months instead of 75 months. So as a first time buyer I figured ok 72 months isn’t bad we just didn’t get to 75 months. So basically they pulled the switcheroo on me in sold me a used car that’s costing me $ 500 a month with no warranty and never notified me that I was losing my Warranty and this is all within 5 days of driving the car off the lot. So we went in today to see about trading this car in to get a new car with a warranty and they tell us we have to put at least 3k down to be able to get a car with a warranty. This might be one of the shadiest dealerships I’ve ever dealt with I will never buy another Toyota again. Definitely will be contacting 3 on your side with the news channel. And also contacting the Federal Trade Commission.

We drove over to Riverview, from north central Phoenix (on a spur of the moment), to look at an FJ Cruiser. While I was parking, a man waved at us, and he ended up being our salesman. Orlando («Big O») Church. He found us the FJ we were looking for, and away we went.
Overall, the deal went fine. I had a vehicle to trade in, and a «set dollar amount/​number» that we wanted to pay, and everyone got as close as they could. Kudos to Alex, the Used Car Manager. We ended up buying the Platinum warranty from Mike Powell.
They detailed the vehicle before we left, even removing an obnoxious tint on the windshield.

This place is horrible! They add so much stuff into the financing. After getting home and reading the contract I realized I am paying for theft protection and extended warranty. Good luck on trying to get a hold of Mike Powell. Never returns phone calls. I have left several messages. So nice to you before you sign the papers. BetterBusiness Beero give an F rating. I am filing a complaint with the attorney generals office for unfair bs pratizes. They will tell
You that your payment will be cheaper than your current psyment. They add so many extras that the don’t tell you about. Mike Powell is terrible. No one returns calls. I went in to try to talk to him but they tell u he is not there. Matter of fact. I even tried talking to the people the desk in the back only to be told they can’t help. When you are purchaseing your car they are so kind. Buyer beware! From talking to a friend the Sttorny generAl is the only way to get help! Just go somewhere else.

Here’s the short version of my experience at Riverview.
FACTS:
1. Riverview Toyota misrepresented the value of our car by not disclosing that the car was in an accident.
2. Riverview Toyota didn’t fix a brake safety issue raised only days after the purchase of the vehicle.
3. Riverview Toyota lied to us by saying that they would fix the brake problem after it was still an issue less than a year later.
4. Definition of this dealership — Dishonest

I had such a great experience getting my car here. I leased a 2016 Toyota Corolla and the whole process couldn’t have gone better. Chris Lopez and Brent Morrow were awesome. I told them what I wanted before I got there and when I arrived they were ready for me. I was in and out within 2 hours. I got the lease as advertised and there were no surprises. This was one of the best car buying experiences I have ever had. I would recommend this dealership to anyone. I am very grateful for everything they did for me!!! I will be back when my lease is over.

I worked with Chris Lopez and Tony Chaudoin to purchase a new 2016 Tacoma and a 2016 4Runner for my Fiancée. Chris was able to provide me up front competitive pricing even when they do not have to on these Tacomas as they are selling faster than they can get them in. Other dealers were telling me that they would have to charge me MSRP because there is no reason to discount the Tacoma. The guys at a Toyota Dealership up in North Scottsdale tried to overcharge me and then offered me low-​ball numbers on my trade, they treated me like I knew nothing but I had done my research. While they may not have to discount these vehicles the guys at Riverview understand what it means to invest in the customer, treating the customer right and with honesty will pay off dividends in the future as I will certainly be back to see them whenever I need another vehicle in the future. They know how to build and establish trust which is priceless. The 2016 Tacoma is a very hard to find vehicle in the TRD Off Road 4×4 and Chris was able to get me exactly what I wanted, with options and in the specific color I wanted from the factory on dealer allocation. Chris was very transparent with all of the numbers on the purchase. Both Chris and Tony were super knowledgeable on the Toyota Tacoma itself which is huge because how many times do you go to dealers and these guys don’t even know all of the bells and whistles on their own product? I did a LOT of research before purchasing my Tacoma so I knew all about the features and various configurations on the truck as well as the invoice costs. Chris was able to get me rock bottom pricing with no hassle as soon as I walked in the door. Their service department also provided a free shuttle service when I went back to get my windows tinted which was super convenient. Their financing department was the quickest and most efficient operation I have experienced in my car buying experience and I have purchased at least a half a dozen vehicles in the last 15 years. They had me in and out in 30 minutes or less on the Tacoma and in less than 20 minutes on the 4Runner purchase.

Normal dealership greediness. My free 25 000 mile service was no longer free because I was over the mileage. Well, I was out of town on a trip when the mileage rolled and frankly its pettiness like that that gives dealerships a bad name.

It’s always a pleasure working with Riverview Toyota. The location is great and the parts department is hassle free and always friendly.

I received a phone call from the general manager who saw my review. He was dead set on making things right and did just that. I took my truck back in and they fixed the dent. He was very apologetic and appreciate the effort that was made to make things right. The general manager and service manager were very kind. Even he told me that my situation would be discussed at a manager meeting so this wouldn’t happen again. Thank you!

Poor service and buying experience.
Bought my 1^st car there and didn’t want to go back. My 2^nd car got from a different dealership. Went to get my last Toyota free check up at 25k. Just passed 26k. So not allowed… which I understand. BUT I called them prior and asked if I was still eligible and they said sure and scheduled.
Show up. Nope. Can’t get it. Well forget them.
Crap dealership & service center.
UPDATE
So called and asked to leave a complaint. Said they’d let the service manager know… but he was the one who heard me in he first place & brushed me off my experience in the 1^st place. Then went to the GM and he talked to me about the situation and called me back a couple times. And ultimately would comp the check up. …
Apparently they record the phone convos… except the girl who answered failed to record it. She’s saying that I didn’t inquire about the status of my Toyota care. I’m fairly certain I did in a relatively coherent way (it was early in the morning tho). So theirs definitely a trust issue. If only she pressed record.
BUT at the end of the day. I won’t take them up on the comp.
Cancelled on a meeting, set up someone to pick me up, one Unilocal review with an update, 5 calls later, & bit emotionally drained from confrontation. All for a minor check up.
It is a time thing.
But a trust thing really. Phone person is calling me a liar. And fails to record the convo. Service manager didn’t care that I had called to confirm. Took talking to the GM several times to get a minor check up covered. I appreciate the effort so I’m adding a star.
I don’t feel comfortable bring my car there… If you send send your dish back to the kitchen expect to get saliva, boogers or worst.
Bringing the car back… not worth the risk.

I had a terrible experience with Berge Riverview Toyota which left me feeling that they take advantage of seniors and inexperienced buyers — or possibly everyone they think they can. I have bought many cars and have never had as bad an experience before. I purchased a used car from them and they sold me a $ 2200 extended warranty that they clearly said was a Toyota warranty. It’s why I bought it.
When I took my car to a Toyota dealership for repair, they had no record of my warranty. I began contacting Riverview every two weeks for months to try to clarify what my warranty was and could not get a return call. Believing they were evading me, I finally stopped leaving messages as to what I was calling about. I finally talked to the Sales Manager who suggested that perhaps I didn’t understand. I shopped with a friend who sold cars for many years. So he — for sure — did not «misunderstand». I cancelled my warranty as soon as I verified that it was not at all associated with Toyota — but lost over $ 600.
Many reviews here refer to their misleading and false sales tactics and their total lack of honesty. I have to agree and warn my friends to steer clear of Riverview Toyota. I love my Toyota but hate being lied to.

I am writing a true review this time. I bought a 2015 Prius about a month ago from Chris Lopez and Adrian. Chris Lopez seems like a awesome guy so does Adrian. Sales seems awesome. This review is for finance. Finance is SCAMMERS added wheel and tire protection for 895.00 without me knowing it, knowing what it was, or giving me a registration card, or explaining the product. I got mad returned the car bought one from AutoNation Toyota which was a great experience. Wheel and tire protection is a great product they charged me $ 299 explained what it was not $ 895. They didnt just say you have wheel N tire protection which I thought was free like toyota care. Riverview charged $ 895 for gap they charged me $ 495. I saved so much money buying from autonation plus got a nicer Prius. Autonation finance department was the best I have seen out of about 10 new cars. Check your contract you probably been scammed with wheel N tire protection and don’t know it. It’s not free, they don’t explain it good, and you sign electronic contracts so you don’t know what you are signing, autonation gave me a cute wallet card. It’s a good product actually not for $ 895 but it’s good. Go autonation… Autonation has much better selection of cars also.

For clarification: I did not end up purchasing through this dealer because I wanted a 2016 Tacoma and after waiting 4 months for them, the one I wanted to become available was available at another dealer first and no clear date when the one I wanted would be available.
With that out of the way I have to say Chris Lopez, the inventory guy at Riverview was probably one of the coolest cats I’ve ever dealt with in the auto industry! He gave me all the details on the 2016 Tacoma he could before they released the official data and reserved one for me in July when other dealers said they had no information on them. Unfortunately, there was a production delay and the one he reserved for me had a production date of ⁸⁄₂₅ that got pushed to ⁹⁄₁₇. However, he let me know of all the models coming in and I even got to test drive a model the day before they were released (⁹⁄₉) and if it had been a 4×4 model I would’ve bought it without hesitation.
However not everyone at Riverview left as good of an impression on me. The Sales Manager (I can’t remember his name for the life of me, just as well) called me up when they had a 2WD model in and tried to feed me the line of «a lot of people THINK they need 4WD…» which I get but Chris knew my needs vs my wants and I didn’t appreciate the salesman trying to push the inventory he had. Alas, this is a very minor thing and had I not seen the Tacoma Limited I want ready at another dealer, and I had not already been waiting so long, they would’ve sold me my truck. As it is I highly recommend Mr. Lopez as the guy to deal with if you know what you want. The Sales staff I cannot vouch for but they are approved through USAA so that shows they are at least honest for USAA members.

Their service department is exactly what you hope for when you need to bring your vehicle in. They were efficient, professional, and polite. My car was in and out quickly and the work and wash was done very well. I will certainly default to this dealership when my Toyota needs future service.

Nice place to go. Location was convenient and clean, cars were prepped and easy to access. The salesmen seemed eager to talk but very pushy. He kept tying to close before I was ready but answered most of my questions. Price ended up to be reasonable. It’s just annoying because he begged for a great review (which I gave), and he now calls my cell 3x per month asking for referrals. I work in sales and this process with riverview just seemed unorganized.

This dealership lied to me. I received a car price estimate for a Toyota 4Runner Limited from USAA. Chris Lopez told me that they couldn’t negotiate the price because USAA didn’t allow them to. I called USAA right away and asked them about this. USAA told me they encouraged members to get a lower price than what they gave as an estimated price. That should say it all right there.
Plus, they want you to pay for tint. The 4Runner Limited comes from the factory with factory tint. $ 399 to tint the front windows??? There are several other dealerships to go to. Chris Lopez doesn’t want your business. There are SEVERAL other reasons, but these two reasons should speak volumes.

2 hrs 45 minutes for an oil change. Comfortable lounge. You’ve really got to stay on the service advisors here as they seem to always be over/​underwhelmed. Everything moves very slow, poor communication and slow turnaround time. Be prepared to have a salesman approach you in wait/​lobby area.

So how bad does it have to be to throw away the remaining free-​included new car services? Pretty bad. I made an appointment online for a free tire rotation and «inspection». The «Assistant Service Manager» was long on ass but short on service. He seemed never to have been near a car before. He did not know how to get the odometer off trip to total miles. Oh yeah, they had no record of my service appointment even though they had emailed me confirmation.
Two hours later, to do a tire rotation I can do in my drive way in 30 minutes, the upsell began. While being careful not to say my car had any problem at all, they said based on miles I «need» an alignment (with perfect tire wear?) and a balancing and a cabin air filter. All for the fun price of $ 235 plus taxes. Well, it doesn’t need an alignment at $ 85 and $ 50 for balancing is ridiculous and not needed (gee, Costco does that for free when you buy tires there so guess where I’m going) and the $ 55 for the air filter is a total ripoff. I priced it out at Pep Boys at $ 10.99.
For even more fun, they could not find my key and spent 15 minutes trying to find it so I could get out of there. The phrase «Incompetent Wankers» comes to mind. I’m not letting these clowns near my car again. I’ll scrub the next free oil change and do it myself along with tire rotations.
One last thing. The list of services performed states they cleaned the cabin air filter. I just pulled it and it was never touched. I blew out bits of desert plant flower petals. I can conclude they didn’t do a damn thing to my car today.

If you want to purchase a new or used car from a dealership, I would highly recommend stopping at Riverview Toyota/​Scion. Everyone I interacted with was transparent, friendly, thorough, and patient. At no point did I feel pressured or rushed throughout the entire process.
In total, I was at the dealership for approximately 6 hours and 30 minutes — with the test driving taking about 30 minutes, negotiations taking about 4 hours (it would have normally taken significantly less time, but I had to take care of an urgent situation about halfway through), and paperwork processing/​car detailing/​walk through took another 2 hours. For the investment made, it was well worth the time.
They were willing to work with me on the price and were very appreciative of all the research/​points of leverage I presented throughout the negotiation. I ended up getting a spectacular deal at Riverview and I will be recommending friends/​family to use this dealership in the future to make a Toyota/​Scion purchase.
