History

Established in 2010.

Our owner Wes Hawkins found his calling many years ago when he purchased his first car — a 1968 Firebird which had been sitting in a barn for 12 years. He quickly realized that if he was going to be able to take his date to the movies or his friends out to lunch, he was going to have to become handy with a wrench. This single act of necessity quickly turned into a life-​long passion, which led him into a career in the automotive industry.

While still in high school, Wes was able to land a part-​time job at a car repair shop where he started out emptying trash cans, mopping and occasionally changing oil. Through his hard work and dedication, Wes was eventually able to become a fully trained automotive technician. He moved on several years later to work at a Toyota dealership where he refined his customer service skills and soaked up everything he could about current automotive technology. After 10 years with Toyota, Wes decided it was time to head out on his own, and Highline was born!

Our shop manager, Charlie has over 30 years of experience in the automotive industry. He prides himself on customer service, honesty, and integrity. He also promises to make the most of your visit by being respectful of YOUR time and money. If you come to see us at Highline, Charlie will likely be standing at the front counter to greet you with a smile (and sometimes a cheesy joke or two)

I love these guys! They are incredibly honest and have great integrity. I have been using them for about a year now, and I wouldn’t go anywhere else. I have referred so many friends and family here and everyone thanks me later for it. Couldn’t ask for a better group of car repair specialist.

The work was decent. Parts were cheap. Got charged about $ 300 labor fee for two simple problems. What I really didn’t like was that they call you over and over from an unknown number after you get your car serviced and they make you go through a phone survey without even asking for permission. I chose to go to this shop because of all the good reviews it gets but now I’m thinking that they aren’t really honest reviews. It’s much easier to tell people how you really feel about the place when you can write about it behind closed doors. But when they call you directly and ask you how many stars you would give them and the reasons why and if they can use your reviews, of course they are only going to post the good ones. Sneaky. I probably won’t be going back.

Brought my truck in for an oil change. I spoke with Charlie on the phone and he was very kind and helpful. I met with him when I arrived and he explained what he was doing and why, (I’m not too saavy) and what his crew found and his recommendations. I had a great experience and would be happy to go there for my future truck maintenance needs.

I have lived in the East Valley for over 5 years and I am so thankful to have found a place to bring my car for servicing that does not cost me my first born child and rip me off. The staff is always attentive and friendly and I never have to wait an absurd amount of time to get work done on my car. The best part was I was able to have a loaner car so I did not have to take time off of work which was a life saver seeing as I just started a new job. I highly recommend Highline Auto for all of your needs. They will not rip you off and they won’t bull s*** you into stuff you don’t need.

I have been continually impressed with highline, after bringing multiple vehicles here. They are friendly, professional, and timely. Recently Wes and his team were able to diagnose and fix a problem with my Infiniti that even the dealership was having a hard time with. He also got my Tahoe in tip top shape before we took it out of town last summer. I have felt like my dealings with highline have been honest, fair, and reasonable each time that I have been in. I will continue to patronage this shop, and I highly recommend Highline to friends and family all around the valley!!!

Came here because my typical mechanic takes a while to get any sort of repair work done and we needed a solution fast, but at a reasonable price. Came to high line with an appointment and they got us in quickly, diagnosed the problem, quoted me and stuck to that quote. I’m impressed with the professionalism exhibited and the care they took with my vehicle (washed it and did an inspection free of charge) and my family!

I really wanted to like Highline as they are friendly, but I am skeptical on their troubleshooting and repair abilities.
Here’s the story:
I brought my vehicle in on a Wednesday with 2 issues to be fixed: 1) check engine light and 2) navigation screen intermittently working (black screen).
As I was going out of town, the plan was to pick up the following Monday after it was ready. I did not receive a call telling me it was completed, so I called them at 4pm to ensure it was before making the 18mile trip to their shop. When I called, they said the repairs were complete, so I Ubered there ($ 35 dollar ride). I paid the $ 1300+ charge from Highline and was on my way home. Not even .5 miles away, I found the nav screen to not to be functional. It was on, but buttons did not work. So I returned immediately to have them address. They needed to keep the car and told me to return Tuesday.
Tuesday evening, I returned after work at 5pm to pick up car. On my way home the check engine light came back on– not 2 hours after I left! I texted them and they told me to return the vehicle Wednesday.
I bring the car back Wednesday after work and told it would be ready Thursday.
I return Thursday only to be charged another $ 300+ for the check engine light, told it was another issue.
If that was the case, why did BOTH codes not appear when they first ran diag on Wed? Seems very coincidental that two failures occur within 1 week of each other. Not willing to admit they may have misdiagnosed or «repaired» the correct failure on the first charge, I paid the additional money and left. I was told the owner would call and speak with me and that did not happen.
Needless to say, I WILL NOT be returning here as I think they failed on this one– 5 visits in 8 days to correct problems present when I made the first trip to the shop and a total of $ 1700.
Disappointing.

Everyone was very nice and informative. I liked that they were straight forward about pricing and recommended repairs (which is rare is this industry). They kept me in the loop regarding repairs and completion and were quick with repairs. Price was very reasonable. Car is running great. They also email you a survey after repairs are completed which shows me they care about providing the upmost customer service. I will return for future repairs/​service.

We continue to take all our vehicles here with wonderful results. Those we referred are equally happy. Furthermore, if we ever even hint that we aren’t completely satisfied Charlie makes sure to do what’s needed to leave us thrilled. My wife trusts them, which says a lot. Charlie has even given her his personal car as a loaner when we haven’t been able to arrange rides (at least, he did until he bought his sporty mid-​life crisis car. Ha!). We call with questions and they take the time to walk through things with us. They don’t replace stuff that’s not needed. Just an honest shop that does things right. You WILL NOT be let down.

Good guys. Fixed my kids AC in her Acura and the whole thing was zero hassle and a good experience. Seem like some solid guys.
They also did her front brakes. Cost a bit more than Just Brakes but didn’t have to deal with the shady upsells.
Charlie works the counter and Wes I believe is the owner. Solid dudes.

I went to Highline awhile back when my check engine light came on. They were so helpful! They needed my car overnight and I didn’t have a replacement or anyone to help get me to work. They promised me a complimentary car and it wasn’t available so they rented me one from the nearby enterprise! Such great service!

We are a house with three cars that are well used. These guys are great! Super friendly, trustworthy, knowledgeable, and fast. They really take the stress out of car issues.
The air-​bag light on my daughters Accord came on — I immediately thought this was going to be a complicated and expensive fix. I couldn’t have been more wrong — it was easy, inexpensive, and FAST.
My ’05 Suburban was leaking oil. Again I wondered how bad and again they took care of me and it was very affordable compared to similar jobs that I have had done at other shops.
I have been paying car maintenance and repair for the better part of 35 years and these guys are by far the best.

These guys are great! The dealership told me I had to replace my oil pan ($ 600-​$ 800) repair due to defective plug. So I called around to get prices, and Charlie was the only person to suggest an alternative repair option for my vehicle.
They inspected my car, did the work, got the oil change the day I walked in for WAY less than what the dealership wanted do.
I’ll be coming back. Thanks for the great work guys.

I love my car. I may not give it the love it deserves, but I truly love my car. Recently I have had to do some maintenance repairs to it and having moved so much in the last 4 years has made it difficult to stick to one mechanic. Seems every time I find a go to guy I end up moving away. In the spirit of saving some money I went back to my hometown of Douglas, AZ to have some repairs done which I was quoted in Gilbert and were more than my wallet could shell out. Well, turns out «lo barato sale caro» (cheap ends up costing you more) and the shop in Douglas couldn’t do all the services I needed, after I had already paid them the money to order the parts and waited 2 days to have my car fixed.
So I drove back to Gilbert somewhat defeated and wondering what I would do with those car parts in the trunk of my car.
I looked online for a week or so and kept coming across reviews for Highline Import Auto.
I was skeptical because most reviews were from Unilocalers that had few reviews and also almost everyone referred to the owner by name. There were a few reviews from established Unilocalers (at least 20 reviews in my book) and a couple of ELITES, so I decided to call them and give them a try.
Here is why they deserve 5 stars:
They were able to get me in the same day I called and use the part I had previously purchased at the other shop.
They knew exactly what I was there for the minute I walked in (no need to explain again)
They called me within an hour to tell me what the car needed done, and not only that but they were able to tell me what was causing the problem and what needed to be done to avoid future problems.
They had my car ready in reasonable time.
The price was, in my opinion, fair.
When I picked up the car, it looked cleaner than it did when I dropped it off, no grease stains on my door or even worse on my steering wheel and maybe they vacuumed it?
The problem I was having has disappeared.
The car is running great!
I would highly recommend these guys! I dealt mostly with an older gentleman who was very professional and helpful. I met the owner Wes when I went to pick up my car and he was very nice, so now I get why all the name dropping on other Unilocaler’s review.
