History
Established in 2001.
From a small 100 seat theater in Scottsdale’s historic Papago Plaza — JesterZ Improv has ALWAYS provided the Valley of the Sun all-ages comedy. Owner and Producer Jef Rawls, continued his pursuit for clean comedy that began in 1995 when he joined the «Oxymoron’Z» improv performance and production staff. When Oxy’Z founder Louis Anthony Russo passed away in Dec. 2000, Jef and his wife Shurlin picked up the reigns and started JesterZ Improv. Continuing to bring quick-witted, fast-paced, family-friendly comedy. After 13.5 years, JesterZ moved from their home in South Scottsdale to the Mesa Riverview. JesterZ Improv theater now seats 250 and provides classes and offsite entertainment and training. All performers are local comedians and improvisers who have been trained by Jef Rawls (a Second City Grad).
