Description

Specialties

We are an old-fashioned butcher shop that specializes in fine cornfed meats, poultry, seafood and deli. Our meats come from only one purveyor in northern Iowa. We also have a scratch bakery and restaurant that serves comfort style breakfast, lunch and dinner. No slime stuff here, when you come in you will be greeted by one of our expert meat cutters who will personally help you choose the right cut and wrap it up with butcher paper right in front of you.

History

Established in 1990.

Iowan’s Roger & Sally McConnell opened Midwestern Meats in

September 1990. Roger wanted to bring something to Arizona

that just wasn’t found, good meat with personal quality service.

A meat cutter and manager for Fareway grocery store in Iowa for 37 years, Roger is passionate and knowledgeable about meat. All of his meat is shipped directly from Iowa where only the best cornfed beef is available.

Our first meat shop was a rented space on Main St., and after 3 years, became too small to serve the growing customer base. In June 1996, Roger proudly purchased his currently location at 5,500 square feet and a 40-foot meat counter, and a crew of 40 employees.

Today, Midwestern Meats has expanded to a bakery and restaurant, all under the same roof. There’s also a wholesale division that provides our cuts to restaurants across the Valley.
