History

Established in 1976.

Fred Smith, RPT is a native Arizonan who is proud to have received his early music training from his mother (a piano teacher). At an early age Fred’s mother started him with dancing and singing which later evolved into playing the piano and trumpet in school events. This eventually led to his touring the country while playing in a pop «Top 40» band.

Fred later received a Bachelor of Science degree from Mesa Community College, and soon thereafter began tuning pianos on the side. Eventually Fred decided to dedicate himself to the craft and business of being a full-​time piano technician and thus «Piano Tuning by Fred Smith, RPT» was born.
