These guys are terrible. Bought a battery from them 3 years ago that had warranty and they would not stand behind warranty since they said they no longer sell that brand of battery anymore. Terrible attitude about it in discussing.

Wanted to personally thank everyone working here and recommend them to anyone looking for superb service and reliability. Been going to them consistently since this location opened and prior to that the Main St. Location in Mesa. We’ve been with Sun Devil Auto for over 20 years and can’t say enough about how they’ve taken care of all our family vehicles each and everytime. Kudos and gratitude from a loyal customer and family.

No reason to go anywhere else for your service. These guys here are very knowledgeable, and very helpful. They then answer my questions about other things as well. You won’t go wrong by getting your service with this company.

I was going to give 2 stars for them being nice and not rude about anything or process but at this point I’m just frustrated. I go in to get an oil change, the guys was very nice and made small talk. I left because it was going to take about 45 min. I get a call 20 min later to say my thread on the pan was stripped and I needed to get a new one which would cost $ 450 & they did not have the part. I understand the thread was stripped and was just curious on how all of a sudden it was stripped and not caught before. I called my automotive friends who are master techs for Honda & Acura and they said because it’s aluminum it’s easy to strip if not installed correctly or over time. At this point I told them to go ahead and put an over sized bolt in and I’ll go ahead and sign the waiver forms. Took it over to Honda and they took care of me. I specifically asked when I first walked in if they top off fluids on top of just changing oil and guy said yes. Well guess what… It wasn’t. I called back the next day to ask again to make sure and the guy on the phone said yes normally my guys do and to bring it in, maybe there’s a leak but I doubt there’s a leak for all my fluids that needed to be topped off. I went ahead and did it myself. He also mentioned and threw in there that he’s the cheapest oil change in town. I work in customer service and I know things happen and mistakes can be made but at this point my experience was just not ideal. Maybe if they actually topped my fluids off I would’ve gave an extra star but I had to pay an additional $ 15 to top my own fluids. It’s like what did I even pay for? A $ 17 oil change that turned into $ 32, left me car less for a day, & just a headache. At least I saved $ 5 for checking in.

Bottom Line: JUST GO TO SUN DEVIL!!! No need to read my long detailed review… seriously JUST GO HERE! It’s about time I take the time to write the good reviews about the wonderful experiences I have ALWAYS had with this Sun Devil over multiple visits at this location and also at my other favorite shop on Elliot Rd (David Hyland, Service Manager). I’ve had a lot of serious repair done here including brakes, broken fuel line, and wheel bearings at this Mesa Power Road & McKellips location, and replacing radiator and tires at the Elliot Road location… There’s not enough room here to say all the good things. So, here’s my best summary! They are honest; thorough; COMPETENT! Very kind in their interactions and the way they talk to me (& others I see there when I’m waiting on my car); fast; appear to be so organized in how they communicate with one another, on the phones & computers & with delivery folks; lots of smiles; communicative; I have talked with many of the front desk people and the service people as well, since I like to peek for a few minutes at the work they are doing just cuz I am interested & curious, and I was impressed with ALL the employees… Scott, Jay, Austin, Dustin, Jared, mechanics Alex & John, and another John Flambard? & others whose names I do not remember (I apologize; maybe next time). Just yesterday, there were 4 technicians helping with my Chrysler headlight that I bravely, but unsuccessfully, tried to replace on my own at home by watching online videos… HA! What a fiasco… don’t try it, people! Sun Devil took me in right away when I drove in and they replaced the bulb & connector (& the parts I had removed) at NO CHARGE… One thing that’s VERY important for us laypeople who don’t know about cars is that Sun Devil (this location and Elliot Rd) only does the necessary work and they tell you when there are other things to be aware of for the future. You can trust these dudes! You have nothing to lose and everything to gain; finding a good auto repair provider is a daunting task and when you are as broke as I am, weighs heavily on one’s mind & spirit… with Sun Devil, you can save yourself a lot of hassle… JUST GO HERE!

I dropped off my car on Friday with a bad alternator. I would fix it myself, but I had family in town and didn’t feel like running around all weekend long trying to get it fixed. They called when my wife was near the cell and I wasn’t. She oked a 580 bill to fix it with tax. The part is only 130 online and 225 at O’Reilly Auto. I just can’t believe how expensive they where. They are nice guys but be ready to pay up.

I have had work done here several times now and each time I have felt very confident in their honesty and highly competent services. The are not like most auto repair shops that fabricate unnecessary problems just to jack up the bill. They have a lifelong customer in me.

I come here for oil changes, been coming for many year’s, and can’t beat their price! They get busy, NO WEEKEND APPOINTMENTS, so come in early.
Just overheard they even have a shuttle service for the inpatient, or maybe the bothersome, haha! They are very polite here, but don’t take advantage of that people! Lol

Good guys — all my experiences here have been positive overall. I believe the shop is honest and trustworthy, happy to recommend. Call ahead however, they are usually busy as many folks use their services.

Stafff was friendly, the work was done in a timely manner. They didn’t try to push unneeded work on me, which has happened other places. I’m not from this area, but when I’m here I will definitely come back here if I need car care.

Sun Devil Auto is the best place I have ever taken my car in the Valley. I do not know a lot about cars, so it is really important to me that I can trust the people I take it to. The staff was extremely kind and friendly, and they were honest. The person who quoted the price also walked with me to my car and showed me what was wrong and what they were going to fix. As much as it stinks to have to get your car fixed, it’s nice to know you being treated well. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

The staff is great and I would not bring our cars to anyone else.

I just moved here from California, and needed front and back break service really bad for my Ranger. Sun Devil is right by my house so I went to them. They put my truck up on the lift and said the front break rotors and pads need to be replaced. I know they did. They then at the same time took the back drums apart. They told me the drums need to be replaced and the shoes and the cylinders. I asked to see the cylinders because I knew they were good. They took me back and the mechanic said «See this black here is because the cylinders are bad». I refused to believe that. The service writer then told me to replace the back breaks it would cost me $ 850.00 for parts and labor. I almost shit my pants, and when I said no they told me I was making a mistake and I was putting my life in jeopardy. This isn’t the first time I have been to a break shop or in a garage. The front breaks I told them to go ahead with since my truck was taken apart and I was already there for almost two hours. The front breaks cost me $ 350.00. I knew that was on the high end but I went with it anyways.
A neighbor then told me to go to Performance Auto on Superstition. I went there and they had a master tech take my back breaks apart and showed me that the cylinders were good. The black was just break dust! They replaced that back drums and shoes and the total price was $ 280.00! Compared to Sun Devils $ 850.00. I asked about my front breaks, and they told me with parts and labor it was around $ 170.00. So I spend an extra $ 150 because I was new to the area and naïve about the local auto shops. By the way, It’s been over 10,000 miles since I did this and the front and back breaks and (Cylinders) are working perfectly still.

Always honest and good priced. Check online for their coupons! I’ve never had a bad experience and the staff is friendly! Check em out :)

An honest mechanic shop.
My 99 Jeep Cherokee wouldn’t start the mechanic originally diagnosed it as needing a new computer. We were looking at $ 1,025 parts and labor. After we discussed it with the mechanic we were resolved to our fate. However, the mechanic went the extra mile after we left and looked more into it, on top of the 3 hours he had already spent. He found it was a bad crank sensor replaced and the computer worked. They could have gone ahead with the expensive repair and replaced the $ 20 sensor unbeknownst to me but they didn’t. They spent at least 4 hours diagnosing my jeep for a $ 232 repair. This is not my 1^st time taking my jeep to this shop and they have had the opportunity time and time again to charge me for an expensive repair when it was something cheap. They are an honest shop.

The guys at Sun Devil auto were amazing. I had to replace my radiator and overflow tank. The dealership sent them the wrong ones so the car was going to take an extra day. They apologized profusely and kept me in the loop the entire time. My car was done, they looked at a couple things I said I was curious about, and they fixed my cruise control (which I had forgotten to ask about). They were more than courteous and respectful. Even though I live in Tempe, I will be taking my cars to them for other fixes. Thanks a lot!
