My family and I moved in February of this year. Before we moved in we walked our apartment and discovered roaches which we immediately told management. We were told they’d bait and spray and the problem would be taken care of. Also our apartment was an upgraded unit and the workmanship was shotty at best. A month went by, still saw roaches. We went up every 2 weeks after that. We were fogged. Nothing took care of the problem. Then they got a new manager. She seemed professional at first. We continued with bait and spray til we transferred apartments. As the problem persisted the manager started becoming short with us. Treated us like an annoyance. We agreed when we transferred apartments I would bring over all the stuff I would have to bag anyway for fogging and the rest of the stuff would get fogged in the old apartment. That never happened, the manager went on vacation that week. We were told the apartment we were moving into was bombed twice. We took a photo of a roach that couldn’t possibly have survived there before moving our stuff in. They have given us some money off in the past, but that doesn’t fix the problem. We still have the same problem and the only thing we were told was they can let us out of out lease. Also we were told we’re the only ones with this problem which is clearly not the case. There’s also the maintenance crew. Everything we needed fixed we had to request numerous times before the problem was fixed right. They don’t get things done in a timely manner and most of them come in smelling like an ash tray. I had one guy come to fix our washer. He left it disassembled half way through to go get lunch. Mean while I had to keep my kids away from the sharp edges and exposed wires. There’s cops in here every other day. I have to close my windows half the time at night because I don’t want my house to smell like pot. Also, the only reason this place is getting a star is because Unilocal won’t let me post without selecting at least one star.

Visited some friends at this dumpy massive apartment complex. Hey, let’s slap a beautiful name on the aging complex and maybe nobody will notice everything else wrong with this place. Mostly, since I don’t live here, things on the outside are a mess. There are giant potholes everywhere and the rainwater seems to never go away or it swamps the potholes forcing you to remember exactly where they are while you drive through a lake. The roadways are all cracked up and let’s not forget an ungodly amount of speed bumps which in itself are in horrid shape. Three days after that storm, giant palm tree pods lay scattered everywhere as well. Somebody at the Whispering Pines is getting over on these poor tenants. I kinda wish I lived here just to sue their asses when I end up in a pothole. Somebody else should, but nobody cares because a dude wrote the same things in a 2011 review. Also a midday bonfire taking place at one of the BBQ grills looked real shady.

Things to consider if you plan on moving here: Amenities– Unfortunately the amenities are mostly inaccessible. The mail room is only open from 8am-6pm. If you get home after 6 during the week, plan on checking your mail every Saturday. Same goes for the gym and the main pool. Both seem nice, but I’ve never been able to use them because I have a day job. These things are open on weekends, which is what they will remind you of if you complain about it. Also, if the manager is gone for the day, the staff locks up early. Even if you get there before closing time, it’s often closed anyway. Parking– Every unit gets one space, which means that everyone with a 2nd driver in the house ends up parking in the visitor spots, in front of the dumpsters, on the curb, etc. There are several tennis courts that I’ve personally never seen anyone use and could be fantastic if converted to overflow/visitor parking. The parking lot is filled with potholes and an ungodly amount of speed bumps. Staff– The office seems to have really high turnover. I imagine that’s because the lady that runs the place is incredibly rude and couldn’t possibly care less about the tenants. Of course because the manager doesn’t care, the staff doesn’t either. Pros: The actual apartment is fine and has plenty of space. They allow large dogs, they have w/d in the units and they are really affordable(presumably because of the aforementioned problems). Side note: They advertise that you can pay rent online, but it comes with a hefty fee($ 20 per payment).

Management is rude and incompetent. They enjoy raising rent for no reason at all even if you have been a long time tennant with no complaints and have never been late once. They are wonderful at losing paperwork and demanding payments that you can prove you already made. Lets not mention that the place is unsafe. I know of at least 4 break ins and attempted sexual assaults in the past 2 years i’ve lived at Whispering Ghettos.
