Absolute Hyundai

The awful stereotype of buying a used car is alive and well at Absolute Hyundai. I went in for a test drive, financing worked out well before stepping foot into the dealership. I had a specific budget in mind. I was bullied to get financing through them and when I couldn’t go over my very reasonable budget, I was insulted by their financial person. I told them I am not going to play their games and left without another word. This is not the dealership you want to purchase from. I know this for sure as I immediately went to a different dealership and had a great experience. You will get ripped off and insulted if you go to Absolute Hyundai.

I call this place «Absolutely Horrible Hyundai.» DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THEM! I bought a 2014 Sonata here and here was my experience: First, they sold me a car that had been hit in the parking lot without fully disclosing the details. They said it was a small scratch – not so. Second, the car they sold me had a defective side mirror and NO ONE believed me. Air would come in through the window and make the most distracting noise. After about a month of back and forth, they finally kept my car to figure out the problem. Fortunately, they did fix it for free. Those things sound annoying, right? Here’s the worst part: I had put down a check of my own to hold the car while I waited for my insurance check to come through. I was told REPEATEDLY that my check would not be cashed and I could bring in the insurance check as soon as I got it (two days later). Guess what happened? They cashed my $ 12,000 check. MY check! I didn’t have that money in that bank account! I could have made arrangements, but they told me the check would not be cashed. It was the absolute worst feeling. It caused my bank account to overdraft and prevented me from having any money for an entire weekend. Another SUPER annoying thing, I am a young woman and I’ve had some of the men I’ve dealt with here treated me incredibly unprofessionally. Hitting on me via text when I gave them my number just to get an update on the status of my car, texting me while out on the town, sending me texts that were «meant for someone else.» CREEPY! Stay away from Absolutely Horrible Hyundai! They are the WORST!

When I arrived, the person that was going to change my car’s oil was somewhat nice and polite. He directed me to wait in the customer lounge and even checked my air filter and changed it (which was nice). The only bad thing was that I waited for 1 hour and 30 minutes which sucked.

I got a car that they uped the price and pocketed the rebate that they claim would be to my benefit. They charged 5k more than what I show the msrp and other dealerships charge. They are nice until you call them out on their bs. When I trade my car back in which I will in the next 6 – 8 months, I will not be going back to these unethical people. I have friends and family that likes my car so I have told them to go to other hyundai dealership cause absolute hyundai is a joke. Low and behold my coworker did go get her a hyundai but not from absolute because she listened to me. She claim her experience where she bought her car was great. So all these shotty and decitful dealership should know that reviews and word of mouth is everything. I have told and showed everybody that will listen that this place will take advantage of you. I will send the hyundai Corp a copy of my contract just to show them how this dealership does business. I am also making a consumer complaint through the bbb. I don’t expect anything to be done, I just expect to expose the cheats they are. Do yourself a favor and do not go here!

Slimy, lying, ridiculous sales tactics. I will never go back to Absolute Hyundai and will tell everyone I know to never go there as well!

Now let me elaborate.
I drove all the way to this dealership because of the offers included on their most recent mailer. Below are the items stated on the flier that peaked my interest.
1. KBB + 15% for your trade in.
2. Check/​rebate for approx. $ 4K to be used toward any purchase.
I checked their used inventory and found a vehicle that I found interesting, especially based upon the criteria above. 2014 Chevy mid-​SUV.
I arrived at the dealer, found the vehicle and commenced upon a test drive. I had already presented the flier to the salesman and told him I was looking forward to making a deal based upon those items.
I liked the vehicle and went back in to sit with the salesman and await their trade-​in appraisal information.
My car is a 2008 Honda CRV. I had already checked KBB on my car, Middle of the road KBB was $ 5928. To make the math simple, Let’s call it $ 6000, add 15% to it and it becomes $ 6900. I am willing to call it $ 6800 since I rounded the other number up. Now, I do realize that dealers don’t typically use KBB, they usually refer to a more wholesale driven black book, I get that, but it was their ad that stated KBB +15%. (I will also add that comparable CRV’s in the area are retailing for $ 9−10K) So now that I should be sitting at $ 6800 for my trade, the vehicle I was looking at was listed online for $ 17,999. So, some more quick math using the $ 4000 «rebate» on the dealer ad, and I should be at $ 13,999 for the car I was interested in buying. That would leave me at an approx/​rough difference of $ 7200 +ttl, etc. You can see why I was interested. That was going to be approx. $ 250/​mo. for 36−42mos. Good deal for me. Why else would I drive all the way from Frisco to Mesquite, passing dozens of other dealers… anyway. So the salesman returns with my «offer sheet». It shows $ 2500 for my car and $ 21 999 for the «new» car. Seriously, I was more than offended and stated that fact. I don’t know why I stayed… oh I know why, I asked for my keys and he came back with a «new offer». I had already written the numbers I shared above as my «counter», referencing the items on their ad. The new offer was $ 4000 for my car, and $ 17 999. I asked for my keys, which got me a visit from Cesar, the «sales manager», who attempted to explain to me how much it didn’t make sense to give $ 6800 for a 2008 vehicle and sell a 2014 vehicle for $ 14K. He also alluded to the fact that most people don’t know how to put in the proper options when identifying a car on KBB, to which I offered him my phone with the information on the screen, he declined to view my information. I pointed out that first of all, it wasn’t my idea to offer KBB+15% and also a $ 4000 «rebate» and I also reminded him that he was comparing a used Honda and a used Chevy, sorry Chevy, but your values don’t hold up as well as Honda. As he continued to patronize me with his superior knowledge of the car business, I politely asked the salesman for my keys again, and Cesar stood up and left the room, showing how offended he was at my «tactics»
I haven’t even mentioned that the ad/​mailer/​flyer/​bait clearly stated that I had won two ipad minis, only to find out that even though there was no small print stating such, my «matching numbers» only entitled me to a «$ 300 gift card» to be used only for a website that brought up spam and antivirus warnings on my phone. (Note: Just to be clear, I had no expectation of picking up two brand new ipads, I just felt led to mention the final piece of this «sales» tactic”),
Slimy, dishonest sales tactics that I thought most dealers had moved away from these days… I guess I was wrong.
I will never go back to Absolute Hyundai and will tell everyone I know to never go there as well!

There are way too many Hyundai dealerships in the metroplex to give these people any of your money. I have never been treated so badly by folks who claimed to be professionals. Not only were none of the previously agreed to terms met when i came in (I submitted all of my finance paperwork before coming in and had multiple telephone conversations with these people) but the car listed on the website that I was coming in to test drive and sign for wasn’t even the same one when I got there. Different mileage and specs– a total fraud.
The finance manager Jeff was a real embarrassment and made very disrespectful comments about me loudly in the waiting area. Don’t waste you time. You can do better than Absolute (liars) Hyundai.

I went here looking for a car for my younger cousin and their associate Charolette Reed was able to work with me. Not only did she give me a great deal she made sure that my cousin had a vehicle with reasonable payments and the ability to change his current credit ratings by Just doing his job. She also helped us get lots of snacks from the break room, they were absolutely delicious. If you go there tell her Keith sent you and ask for her by name. She’s not pushy and a really kind saleswoman!!!

I had a great experience with Absolute Hyundai last April. I bought a 2014 Hyundai Elantra. I had a 2006 PT Cruiser than I wasn’t a fan of but my sales man got me into exactly what I wanted for the payments that I asked for without being pushy! Very different from other experiences I’ve had in the past. I did complain a little during my follow up phone call (I think it was about the wait time or something, not anything major) and they gave me a set of all-​weather floor mats as compensation. I was floored that they even cared enough to do that. I will definitely use them in the future if I am still happy with my Hyundai down the line!

My boyfriend and I both bought our cars from this place at the same time and they are a DISASTER. They can’t get it together. The front desk lady is always confused, the sales guys are a hot mess, its old and dirty and it’s not worth the headache. Go to the one in Plano.

Let’s just say I’ve been a Unilocal reader for many, many years and am a huge foodie. What prompted me to make my first post is the fact that Absolute Hyundai is hands down the worst dealership we’ve ever had the unfortunate «honor» of doing business with. Love our 2012 Elantra, HATE the dealership and their extremely poor customer service. They held us there for hours when we first bought the car, wasted way too much time trying to negotiate unneeded bells and whistles and today’s mistreatment was the final straw. We needed to replace a flat tire and wanted to buy the donut + kit. We were quoted a price over the phone for the kit. Drove over to Mesquite to dealership to purchase, only to be told the price was over $ 100 higher than what was quoted on the phone earlier. They once again wasted our time. We are done with Absolute Hyundai and I will make sure everyone I know, as well as everyone they know, realizes what a complete and utter disaster this shady business truly is. Without a doubt, we’ll be taking any future business that must be handled in a dealership to a different location.

I wish there is a way to not to give them any star.
I had such a horrible experience with this very dishonest stealership.
I was in email chain with sales rep and he agreed my offer.
I asked again and he said yes, so I drove 40 minutes to get there.
Almost 3 hours of waiting, the sales rep and sales manager added extra $ 3K on my offer and said my calculation was wrong.
1. My calculation was correct
2. You shouldn’t agree my offer if you not willing to sell.
They showed my very disorganized set of number which make no sense at all to confuse me but I am not that stupid.
They will charge you over $ 2K for window tint ($ 100 worth), cupholder mat (maybe $ 5?), door edge guard (you can buy for $ 6 and DIY) and nitrogen in the tire (air already contains 79% of nitrogen) and VIN etched to glasses (To prevent theft? Please…) which you never ask for.
What a rip off…
They said they know thing better because selling car is what they do for living.
I believe they rip off people for their living.
Please save yourself and find another Hyundai…

Unfortunately I have to give it a star to do my review. For starters nothing against Hyundai cars cause I’m loving mine. Went in Wednesday night to look for a new car and I had already in mind how much to spend. What term I wanted and how much interest i was going to negotiate. Turned in a 2003 Honda Accord which I was planning on selling on my own but they suckered me in by offering me $ 5000 trade in. Here goes the spin the whole 4 hours I was there they didn’t want to show me numbers on paper. All was verbal until I said I wanted my car keys and I was leaving. Here comes the Sales Manager Jason and pretends he has a great offer. They jump the price of car by almost $ 3000 but giving me $ 5000 trade in. When I saw the price I said wait the price was not $ 22,998 so Jason says it’s cause of upgrades made by dealer. Then he goes on to explain that end of day I was still staying at my desired monthly payment and close to the term I wanted.
By now I’m tired and I agree. Next time learned from this experience not to give in. Well then I’m off to see the Finance Manager and of course he is wanting me to buy the GAP insurance. I agree it’s good to have but hell I wasn’t paying more on my car. So I declined. He goes on to say, how about I go down on the insurance so u could still take it and stay just a few dollars more to your desired monthly price. So I agreed now and finalize the sale. I leave dealer and I’m happy with my new car but next day I happen to open my glove compartment to find the sticker of breakdown of car that they normally place on car windows. It showed the upgrades included and total price should have been $ 20,110.
I emailed them with pictures of it and I’m called within 30 min to ask if I can come in and talk to General Manager, Justin.
Drive all the way to Mesquite from North Dallas only to be told that I still got a good deal. Nothing that can be done and that practically I shouldn’t be complaining. He said the price up charge is some addendum that shows all the additional features the dealer installed. So I asked for a copy to be told they probably didn’t have the addendum that was attached to the car but they could find me another one from another car. How shady is that? I said I didn’t ask for tinted window and if that’s the car u offered me at $ 20,110 that’s what should have been honored and on contract and where all the trade in, deposit and dealer incentive should have been discounted from. Can’t do much now except to make sure to warn others not to purchase from there.
My next action will be to file a complaint with BBB.

We went car shopping Friday for my 21 year old. Literally spent 6+ hours at the dealership. We were the last to leave and when we got into the finance office the deal we had negotiated was not the deal on the table. It was a take it or leave it. I guess the plan was to wear us down with waiting and we would take anything. The deal we walked from had no warranties, no GAP. We woke up the next morning went to Huffines Hyundai in Plano and got a better deal, better treatment within a few hours. Deal was for a better car, less miles, with warranty and with GAP and less down payment. We WON in every way except losing a Friday in the dealership. I encourage anyone to do your homework. Don’t be afraid to walk if they cant deliver you what they said. I bought a car from Absolute 2 years ago and it was easy going. But my sales guy isn’t there anymore. Hyundai are great cars, so don’t let any dealership discourage you. But I my next Hyundai purchase maybe up North.

I could not tell you about any deals or pricing or anything as I waited over 30minutes to be helped. By the time I got asked it was over 45 minutes…

We just purchased a car from Larry Green and it was a very positive experience. He wasn’t pushy, listened to our concerns and provided accurate and fast responses. Very professional and a very good experience.

At first I was mad that they told me they could get me the vehicle I wanted at the price I wanted to pay. I didn’t want to waste my time or theirs if it was not a workable deal. They of course once I got there & test drove the Santa Fe &loved it. I was then told the price would be out of the range I wanted to pay. I started to walk out right then but I had a really good sales woman so I went ahead and test drove the Tucson. This was my first experience with Hyundai and I was very impressed with the vehicles. So I settled for the smaller SUV. Everything my sales person did was what kept me from walking out. Especially when dealing with the finance department that wanted to «REDO» my paper work and make my monthly payment higher because he had figured discounts/​rebates on the wrong vehicle. NOT my mistake and the wrong way to handle it. But the sales manager stepped up and came in and made the deal right again. So if you have patience and are willing to deal with the games played on the finance side. I highly recommend going there to deal with Karen Dabney or Malia Penington as sales people go, they both are down to earth good people. No fast talkers or games from them. I love my Tucson BUT would really have loved to have been driving the Santa Fe I went to buy in the first place and was told they could get down to the price I was comfortable paying. So overall highly impressed with the Hyundai vehicles. Was nice to have competent personable sales people that were not pushy or coming off as wheeler dealers. Was not happy with the finance guy who tried to make the payment higher or the fact that I was told before I got there that they could get me in the vehicle I wanted at the monthly payment I wanted. I gave them all my pertinent information like my credit score etc before going. So they should have told me the vehicle I wanted would be too expensive for my budget. Granted I would not have gone at all. No body likes the bait and switch routine. Had they simply said the Tucson would be what they could sell me at the price I wanted to pay. I would have done all my home work /​research on that model before I went. Then I would not have felt like I was manipulated into going for a vehicle I did not set out to buy. Doing quick internet research while I was there was why I decided that the Tucson was a fair buy.

I have got to give kudos to Jeff Edwards. I walked into Absolute yesterday with a problem with my bluelink on my 2013 Hyundai Azera (a car which I bought from another dealer who I’m still waiting on a call back from). Jeff spent well over an hour trying to resolve my issue, talked to customer service reps for me, and I believe he was more frustrated then I was with blue link tech support about the issue. Although Jeff was not my sale person he went above and beyond to try to resolve my issue. I was not his customer and could have tried once and referred me back to my original dealer. Instead, I left with his card after he emailed someone he knew at Hyundai. When I was looking for my car initially I did not stop at Absolute, however I wish I would have because the service you get after the sale is just as important as the sale. If you are in the market for a new Hyundai give Jeff a chance. He impressed me enough to write my first review on Unilocal,and I have been using Unilocal for years.

Okay, I’ve been waiting about a week to write this and finally have the time to tell you about my experience with AbsoluteWorst Hyundai. Last Friday I went in all excited to be buying a new car. A «salesman» approached me and started talking with me. Once I realized he wasn’t going to introduce himself, I stuck out my hand and introduced myself (way to go on getting to know your customer). His name was Bennie. After pulling an Elantra GT out so I could look at it, he took off to help someone else. About 10 minutes later, he comes back. We start talking and I tell him I’m interested in the Elantra GLS. Again, he leaves for about 10 minutes and eventually comes back. I had been looking at cars in the hot sun and was looking over the invoice sticker. I asked him what the sticker next to the invoice sticker was and was told it was the Absolute Hyundai Protection Plan for only an additional $ 2199 (btw, this is not an option here, it’s mandatory on top of the MSRP). He says this includes window tinting and some other crap. So I ask why is there an additional cost of $ 299 for window tinting on top of the $ 2199 (which I was told includes the window tinting!!). Now the real fun begins. Bennie tells me that once he decides I’m a serious buyer, we can negotiate on that. ??? Then he tells me that this is a high demand vehicle and if I don’t buy someone else will.
I already had financing and explained to this moron that I am a serious buyer. Told him I plan on driving home in a new car that day (which I did from the most awesome Huffines Hyundai in Plano). Once we get past that BS, we go inside, he gives me a free Gatorade (Thanks man, I needed something to drink while driving to the next dealership) Bennie is off again to help someone else and once again asks me to wait (at this point, I’m more than just pissed).
In the 50 – 60 minutes I was there, this «salesman» spent about 10 minutes with me. Thanks for making me feel so special Bennie. I wouldnt’ have a tire changed at this filthy, run down poor excuse of a dealership. In fact, when I was walking out to my car (because I hadn’t seen this «salesman» in about 15 minutes, noone stopped me or asked me if they could help. I left, went to Huffines in Plano (BEST BUYING EXPERIENCE EVER) and bought a new, Desert Bronze GLS and drove home in it.
Think I’m a serious buyer now you big ol’ DB?!

Best car buying experience I have ever had. Jeff Edwards is wonderful. We told him what we wanted and he was able to make it happen. Didn’t have deal with the usual «you’re female» car salesman nonsense. He showed us several options and told us about specs. After we decided on the car, Jeff made sure there was no dealer stuff plastered all over it. (yes that was a deal breaker for me.) He even took us to the garage where they were unloading the new inventory so we could see/​pick out which car we wanted!
