Very good burgers and fries, the only reason for the four stars is because they’re a little expensive for a burger joint.

Wonderful establishment the staff is nice and friendly Food is always great, hot and fresh. All the friends I bring here enjoy it and the owners are really nice and friendly. I love the Hawaiian burger with bacon. Combo meal is a great value and I will be back for sure!

A long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away existed a burger joint that kept me and my crew well fed on the cheap. The burgers were huge and greasy, the fries were plentiful and both could be acquired for the rolls of change in my pocket. A young, broke me couldn’t ask for more. The nostalgic memory of such a burger joint led me to introduce my adult son to Burger Island. As most stories do, it all started so well. Mon-Thurs 5 – 9 offers a special of 2 cheeseburgers, an order of fries and 2 small drinks for about $ 10. Sweet deal, right? Only if you make it out alive. Dirty doesn’t come close to describing the interior of this Burger Island. The staff of 3 kids obviously didn’t give a shit about anything but playing grab ass in the back. Can’t blame them for that, they’re teenagers. But at least wipe down a table or two so there’s a clean one to be found or sweep up the crumbs that covered the entire floor once and awhile. Then, if you’re feeling industrious, give the table condiments a wipe down to remove the month’s worth of splatter that’s dried to a crust. Good lord. Yes, the burgers are still huge and greasy and the order of fries was big enough for a family of 4 to share. It would’ve been a glorious walk down memory lane had it not been for the fear that ran through my head with every bite that I was going to end up spending my night puking it all back up. I haven’t gotten sick but I can guarantee you I’ll not return to this location. My luck just doesn’t hold out well enough to risk it. **Bonus points for recognizing the May 4th reference. Nerds unite! \m/

First time ordering here tonight. I ordered the double meat with ½ fries and onion rings. The burger was was huge and looked great. I took one pattie off I started to eat but it didnt taste right, I wiped off mayo then took a piece of meat burger but it didnt taste like beef, I literally threw up all the contents of my stomach and didnt eat a quarter of the meal. A waste of 10 bucks. I NEVER had that happen. I think I’m done with this place.

Great juicy burgers. Kinda a hole in the wall but worth it! Usually slightly under staffed but try the big island to make up for it.

Burger was really good… just didn’t realize how large it was going to be. Had to take it home and the onion rings. Would come back for sure.

We eat here at least once every other month, the burgers are huge and juicy. The island burger that I get has so much stuff on it I usually have to eat it with a fork. One large order of fries feeds the whole family. On the downside this place is the epitome of a greasy spoon. The tables have always seemed grimy so we always order carry out. Good dive burger.

Great burgers and sandwiches… the portions are enormous! I’ve had several kinds of burgers and the Philly sandwich and they have all been amazing. Their fries are hand cut with awesome seasoning. If you go during lunchtime, prepare to wait though… even call in orders when they say 10 – 15 mins could take a little longer.

If you’re looking for a really good burger of massive proportions, then burger Island has you covered. Neither my husband or myself could finish our delicious burgers. They have unique topping combinations if you want more than just lettuce, pickles, etc. which makes it fun. There are a couple things to be desired: equipment wasn’t working, napkins were out, counter/kitchen understaffed, cleanliness was questionable. If you can overlook these factors or get your order to go, then you’ll be golden. Totally worth it!

Worst burger and onion rings I have ever had! I would rather have had McDonalds. The onion rings weren’t fresh(frozen), bland and cold. Their«seasoned hand cut fries» greasy, cold and had way too much seasoning. The burger was sloppy and the sauce was overloaded on the buns. Couldn’t get out of there quick enough. As for their«free delivery» you can call and try but they only deliver if they have a driver on duty… Good luck… Everyone below needs to venture out and try some better burger joints… If I could give this place 0 stars I would but it’s not an option. Save your self the trip.

Not a huge burger fan, but if I want one, this is where I go. Burgers are fresh, made to order, and delicious. Big, too… often, I order a kid’s meal, and it is enough. Like the fries, too. Can not give it more than 3 stars because service counts. A couple of times, my order has been incorrect. Often, the place looks like it needs cleaning. I don’t care too much about it being fancy, but it should be clean. The staff, while not rude, they do not go out of their way to be friendly.

Not all that great if you’re in the mood for a Philly Cheese Steak. Didn’t know Provolone was yellow, well at least that’s what the not so into her job clerk told me. Don’t think it’s worth going back for me.

First time here. Jungle burger = Yum! I x’d the pickles and the mustard and got the jalepenos on the side. Three surprises: the grilled mushrooms were fresh, not canned; you get grilled AND fresh onions; and they threw the pickled jalepenos on the grill as well. Good, good and good! They advertise that their fries are hand cut. I was unimpressed with the«seasoning» they used on them — it didn’t taste like much of anything, not even salt, but was otherwise unobjectionable. They were fried in the right temperature oil and were not greasy at all. Their burgers are ½ pound of meat. I can put away a lot of food when I’m really hungry, but I can’t imagine EVER being able to eat a double hamburger here. Gee, considering how massive my Jungle burger was, I doubt I’d even be able to get a double in my mouth! For $ 2.50, you can make your burger a meal and get a half order of fries and a fountain drink. If what I got was a half order of fries, then a full order would feed a family of four! The restaurant is a little worn, but it seemed generally clean. They need new booth seats, as the existing seats are either torn or missing their cushions entirely. The ladies bathroom only had about a 40 watt bulb in it, which can hide a multitude of sins. However, no objectionable smells there, so it was probably ok. They have a TV, but it was not on. The music was mostly hip-hop, but it was low enough that I hardly noticed it. Not a fancy place by any definition, but definitely a good choice when you have a hankering for a good cheeseburger. Free delivery within a 3 mile radius with a $ 15 minimum.

Been going here with co-workers for the past couple of years because it used to be one of the better burger joints in the Mesquite area. Unfortunately, something has changed. There’s a whole new crew of staff and the place has really gone down hill. I don’t know if there has been an ownership change but… They are no longer seasoning the fry’s like they used to, they are putting about half the amount of bacon on the burgers, 1 slice cut into thirds. Plus the bacon is microwaved now. The previous cooks used to prepare the bacon on the grill when you ordered your burger and you got at least 3 full strips. Also, the patties seem a bit different but can’t put my finger on it. Anyways, I no longer recommend this place for a good burger.

The good: Burger is HUGE! Let me state that again… the burger is HUGE. The fries were seasoned and actually pretty good. The not so good: The burger meat is somewhat bland which just made the burger average. Place is cluttered looking(stuff on wall), dirty and booths look old.

It’s hard to find a good burger these days when everything’s so, well, over done. Sure, I like a Big Mac every once in a while, but once you’ve had a thin patty of meat, you’ve had it. Staff: The people that run the place are some seriously great human beings. They work in a hot place with a grill close by — I’d be miserable and grumpy — but they are always nice when I come in. They’re very quick too. Food: I’ve only been ordering the Cheeseburger and Seasoned Fries from them, because they are so delicious, but they have a great menu if you’re into hamburgers. Everything is fresh and HUGE. They don’t do patties it seems, from the looks of it, the meat looks and tastes like they threw it together when you ordered it. That’s what really sells it — the meat is delicious and juicy. It’s like the restaurant experience, but you can get it to go. The seasoned fries are also great as well, but after a huge burger it’s hard to finish them all — but I’m not complaining, they make great leftovers. I’ll have to review their other foods as well if I can ever get to them! Aesthetics: I’ve heard a lot of reviewers comment on the way the place looks. Sure, it’s not that pretty a place, but I take the food into consideration. I would rather my food be delicious and people be paid well than a building look fancy. They keep the place as clean as they can during the day(they’re a small staff and keep pretty busy), but from the looks of it everything is kept clean. It could use a coat of paint and an air conditioner(they have fans, but I don’t think their AC works very well), but other than that I like the hole-in-the-wall. It kinda lives up to its name. It feels like you’ve stepped into a place on the coast that just picked up off the beach to put a roof over it’s head. Grab a book, order a cheeseburger and chill out for an hour. Try it, it’s worth it.

Even though the place is small and not so clean looking, they have REALLY good burgers. I love coming here with friends; it’s a cool place to hang out. Recently, I had their grilled chicken burger, and it’s good. Nothing compared to the beef, though. Man, their fries are the best I’ve had. Seriously, though. I’m not completely sure what they season them with but they are delish. I’m hungry now. Might go there again tomorrow. :D

This has been my fave burger place in Mesquite until very recently(check out Bacon and Friends). The Burgers here are always thick and juicy and they have all kinds of toppings. The flavor has always been good. The fries are good but not to die for. Texas Toothpicks(fried jalapeño and onion slivers) are another definite winner. This is one of the few places I can say I have never left hungry! So, on one of those days when you are getting frustrated at the ridiculous ever present road work and the ensuing traffic snarl on Town East just pop in and enjoy beef bliss in this little oasis. You’ll thank me later.
