Cosmopolitan Maid Service

This is the worst experience I’ve ever had with a company that’s supposed to provide a service. The person who does the scheduling, Steve, made me uncomfortable from the moment I called. He is rude and brash and had a ‘holier-​than-​thou’ attitude. The tone in his voice and the way he talked to made me feel like I was stupid for asking very reasonable questions, like ‘when is the crew coming?’ and ‘will they clean the inside of the fridge?’ The man acted so put out by my questions. He proceeded to tell me the crew has a list of things they do and DO NOT deviate from this list. (He was yelling this at me!) I conceded, because I was in a desperate situation and needed my apartment cleaned for a move out. I was emailed documents to sign, which I signed electronically, and immediately. The morning this company was supposed to come, I get 2 phone calls from this Jeff person yelling at me that they didn’t have my signed documents and I was no longer on their cleaning schedule. I forward the email that was sent to me (by their company) saying the documents had been signed and received by both parties. He was STILL rude! Everything out of this man’s mouth was rude and accusatory, so I couldn’t take it anymore and told them not to bother. I had put up with enough. Since when do companies that provide a service think they can treat their customers with such disrespect and get away with it? Unbelievable!
I hope this man gets fired or goes into another line of business, like bounty hunting or clubbing baby seals– he’s more suited for that work. Steer clear of this company.

If you need a great cleaning/​maid service call these guys! I’ve dealt with other companies but nothing compared to Cosmopolitan Maid Service. Awesome job and also great customer service! I will refer them!

I have used this service for over a year, and am switching because of an ongoing problem. They do not use their own cleaning supplies — they use up yours! And then they try to hide the fact. Example: I had a new bottle of dishwashing liquid which I rarely use (I have a dishwasher.) After a number of months, I noticed that the amount of soap in the container had gone down to about ½, AND it had been watered down to slightly more than green-​tinted water to try to cover the drop in quantity.
All of my hand soap is depleted, and lately they have been using my clothes washing pods! I complained about this before, but I suspect they make the maids pay for their own cleaning supplies, or the maids just don’t want to carry them back and forth.
They have done a reasonably good job of cleaning, but there were several incidents over my time with them. 1) They spilled a bucket of water in a closet and didn’t fess up to it. I thought I had a broken water pipe, and spent considerable time and effort trying to dry out and salvage the carpet, and trying to find the broken pipe. There was none. 2) They accidentally broke a small bottle (no big deal.) 3) They accidentally dropped a washcloth into the shower when there was bleach on the tile (again, no big deal.)
If it weren’t for the cleaning supply thing, I would still use them, but this is a problem they cannot or will not fix.

If I could give them zero stars, I would. Their first ‘intro’ cleaning was outstanding. The 2^nd and 3^rd cleanings left little to be desired. After the 3^rd cleaning, I came home to find my wood floors in worse condition than before they cleaning, and a toilet and sink that didn’t appear touched. I actually had to re-​clean my small 2-​br apartment after they left. I’ve attached some pictures for proof. Note the mop that I used after they ‘cleaned.’ The floors were barely touched.
That wasn’t the bad part. I called one of the OWNERS, Steve, and had the worst customer experience I’ve ever encountered. He claimed I was high maintenance, a problem customer, and couldn’t be pleased. Excuse me?! Aren’t I a paying customer!!! If you read a couple other peoples’ reviews, they mention Steve’s rudeness also. I will NEVER EVER go back to them, and highly suggest to everyone not to use this business. Cannot believe a business owner would ever speak to a customer in the manner in which he spoke to me.

Great cleaning service. I’ve used them several times and have been at home and away when they were cleaning. I’ve lived in Uptown for 6 years now and have received countless advertisement for other cleaning services (and have tried a good handful of them). These guys are the best in my opinion. 100% trustworthy and do a fantastic job.
Also, I saw a review below regarding Steve and have spoken with him on the phone while booking appointments as well. I have no idea where that s coming from saying he was rude. Every time I’ve spoken with him, he’s been professional and very nice.
All in all a great service and would definitely recommend.

While the cleaning was good the cleaners broke my espresso maker. When I reported it to the company after several emails and a tense phone call the manager stated «how do I know it wasn’t broken before we got there» and the only solution offered was to wait until they came again, send the machine back with the maids and he would ‘look into it’ but that he ‘had no clue’ about those machines. Horrible customer service after he made a huge deal about always ‘making things right’ when selling me on their services. Don’t waste your time or money!

. This was the third cleaning service that I requested a quote from. While price was a factor, I was really looking for chemistry with the business I was going to be letting into my home on a regular basis
I’m not rich, nor do I live in a big fancy house. I live in a single family home about 1800 square feet. In fact, I’m a single mom and a regular middle class person. As a single mom of 3 that works I decided to invest in a cleaning service because I can focus on quality time with the kids and on my businesses. The initial cleaning was great even if they did come a little bit late. They did such a wonderful job on my old house (1960’s built). I have hardwood floors, they swept and mopped. The bathrooms were spotless, mirrors and windows wiped clean. Ceiling fans, baseboards, AC vents were dust free. They changed the linens and made the beds for me. They emptied all the trash. Unloaded the dishwasher and put dishes away. They also loaded the dishwasher and cleaned all my appliances. They dusted all the shelves of places I neglected for awhile (shame on me). The kitchen tile floor was mopped even in the grooves and they even cleaned the rails of my back sliding glass door. I eventually got a welcome kit which clearly outlines all the details of your service along with a schedule for the entire year. The owner called me to see how everything went. I’m very happy and the convenient auto bill pay makes it easier on me so I don’t have to find my checkbook. Overall, loved it!!! My 5 year old loved it too! She asked me, «Why are people cleaning our house?» I told her, «They do a way better job than mommy does and now I have time to read you a book every night.» I have written this same review in about three different places that is how much I love it. I have since scheduled regular service and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate enjoying my time off from work with the kids rather than cleaning.

It was as if they had the Midas touch on the first visit. Everything they touched in my home seemed to turn to gold. There were 3 cleaners sent for this visit. Therefore, I expected perfection, but somehow, I was still blown away by the work they did. They even cleaned the glass on the French doors to my study and the legs on my dining room table. I was truly impressed since the last cleaning lady left so much to be desired.
I was told by one of the cleaners from my first visit to specifically request that they are sent back for future cleanings if I wanted to ensure they would be assigned to me again. Well, I did request the same crew, but I got 2 cleaners who had trouble navigating through my building to find my apartment and who were more interested in the décor of my home than actually doing a good job in cleaning it. I did a better job at making my bed when I was 3 years old than these ladies did. They also did a really horrible number of the vertical blinds in my bedroom. I couldn’t get them to close properly for a week after the ladies left. Bright side: I immediately called Cosmopolitan after they left to specifically request, once more, that the original cleaning crew be sent and additionally indicate, that the 2 cleaners who came that day could not come back.
I’ve used the service twice more since the second cleaning and they have sent 2 members of the first crew both times and I have not been disappointed with their work yet. As long as they continue to send this crew, provide wonderful service and keep the price right ($ 86 for first cleaning and $ 75 subsequent cleaning), I will remain a worry-​free customer.
URGENT UPDATE 08÷07÷12: Great maids, but horribly rude guy named Steve running things. The maids were running late today and after reaching out to let the office know they were running late, I was told that some people had called in, but that to expect someone in an hour. When that didn’t happen, I was told they may arrive around noon. Steve was very rude and indifferent and recommended that I leave a key for the crew. I wouldn’t have minded doing this, but he was just so rude and unprofessional that I cancelled the service instead.
I then received a very rude email from Steve saying that I was a problem customer. I advised that he must have me confused with someone else, pointing out my glowing Unilocal review of the company and the times I’ve called to commend the maids on what a great job they do. It’s unfortunate that good work is overshadowed by disgusting people and poor treatment of loyal customers.

I used Cosmopolitan Maid Service for close to 2 years. The first year they were great — cleaning crew did an excellent job and the customer service was friendly and helpful. The second year, their service began to noticably decline and there was a change in the customer service agent. I would notice when I came home after they cleaned that they had not cleaned the baseboards and there was dust/​dirt remaining on the floors. They also no longer provided additional attention to details (towels nicely folded, etc.). I was willing to put up with the less than ideal service mainly out of sheer laziness but the exceptionally poor customer service is what put me over the edge and I cancelling my service with them. The customer service agent accidently booked me for service one day and when my door was deadbolted he proceeded to send me a very rude email blaming me for the mix-​up. Instead of trying to straighten out the situation his email said things like «this is your fault» and «what’s really your problem.»
I’ve never had such poor customer service and in combination with the mediocre service I would not reccommend Cosmopolitan. There are multiple other cleaning services in this area that do a better job and treat their customers with respect.
