Mesquite Grill & Seafood

I did not like the fish very much. It had a bad after taste, too much seasoning, the fries were not cooked all the way being hard in the middle and there again was overkill on seasoning. The okra was battered in the same seasoning as the fish, so no distinction in taste and the hushpuppies were very greasy.

This is not a place that needs reservations. It’s a dive. But, with that said, they fry up some mean seafood! The owner is very sweet and helpful. Ok, so the guy cleaning up the tables brought in Little Caesar’s pizza, sat down to eat & loudly belched out loud!

The cajun fries are nothing like Cajun fries, don’t order them they are disgusting. I ordered two big burger combos # 8s and he thought they were the double burgers which are # 9s at first. I asked to make both large and again he thought I meant double burgers. Then he still gave me small cups even though I asked for the large size and then their soda machine was out of everything but coke. The burger wasn’t special and for some reason had green bell pepper on them. Maybe they are great on seafood but I’m going to have to doubt that. Won’t be back. They get a three because they seem nice enough.

Bring cash. Twice we went to try this place and only the owner can operate the credit card machine we were told. He wasn’t there. Food just ok. Dirty rice horrible. Coleslaw tasted great but cabbage was brown. Catfish was very good.

I decided to try this place for the first time yesterday. This location previously housed Sams Southern Eatery a while back. Sams started off good but rapidly went down hill when ownership changed.
So, I was curious and was in the mood for some seafood. I decided to try a few items so that I could get an idea of the food here. I ordered the jumbo 10 piece shrimp basket that was to come with 2 sides. I ordered fries and green beans. They were out of green beans so that owner gave me a large order of fried okra instead. I also ordered the philly cheese steak sandwich that came with fries and a nice sized drink. The last item I ordered was the 8 piece catfish filet dinner that came with 2 sides. I got fries and onion rings.
Everything was hot and fresh which is a huge plus. The fries were nothing special. I wish they had some sort of seasoning on them to give them a boost of flavor. The catfish was fried to perfection and had a nice cornmeal crust on it. The philly cheese steak was ok. I did like the bread but I felt the sandwich needed more meat and more cheese. Finally, the jumbo shrimp were tasty. They appeared to have been fried in flour and were a bit on the spicy side.
I spent 45.00 for my order and of course, I will have leftovers for days. I will probably be back for the catfish and shrimp items.

Nice owner, the people were very helpful and the place was clean with the smell of fried foods going on in the back. The prices were REALLY GOOD and got a free meal for an order over $ 30. The food was cooked fresh when I ordered and was very good. Definitely a place I’m going to visit a lot more. Happy and full with leftovers.

I ordered take out from here for the first time yesterday and it was absolutely delicious! As my boyfriend and I waited for our food, we had quite a conversation with the owner. Very nice man! We will be back very soon. I definitely would recommend the shrimp po-​boy & the fish basket.

This place is pretty cool. Nice atmosphere. Very hole-​in-​the-​wall vibe that I dig. Food is fresh and tasty. Basically like southern fried food served in almost a restaurant style.
They got large tvs for menus and tons of items. I love their hush puppies and fries.
