If you have eaten Lebanese food many times in many different places, you won’t particularly enjoy this one. Falafels were dry, hummus tasted more like a bland tahini, shrimp kebab skimpy. Bland food lacking character and taste. Service was not bad, presentation was mediocre and the labneh was bland in spite of the added cucumbers. I did try the Baton Rouge one and was equally disappointed. If you’re are around Baton Rouge and not in a hurry, take a further trip to St. Francisville and visit Al Aqaba for a real feast on Lebanese food. Will not return, there is Hummus and More a bit further down Severn which is very, very good.

I’ve been to Albasha on numerous occasions. This review is way over due. I went in on Sunday and sat down by myself. I told the waiter I knew what I wanted… didn’t need to see the menu. Wanted to get right down to business since I was craving Greek food! I ordered the chicken schwarma plate and the Lebanese tea. Service was impeccable! Waiter was very nice. Within five minutes my meal was in front of me! Btw, the Lebanese tea is a must! I had three glasses. it was so refreshing bc it was a hot day. The chicken was perfectly spiced and I just love the salad with the feta cheese dressing. The hummus is fresh and wonderful too. Just writing this review makes me crave it right this very moment! I’m getting it tomorrow for lunch, for sure. And it’s super healthy. Bottom line. fresh tasting food and wonderful service!

This is an excellent restaurant in the Metairie area both for lunch and dinner. Food was so fresh and tasty, with huge portions. Service is great. It is probably going to be my go to location for Mediterranean cuisine.

The meat moussaka entrée and moussaka appetizer are my favorite items on the menu. I think they have the best moussaka in this area that I have tried. I also like the Albasha super salad, it has no meat but it filling. I always ask for the dressing on the side as they put too much on the salads for me. Lentil soup is good and hot. Any of the kabobs entrees are a good recommendation and I love the hummus. Everything is always fresh. Service is fast and efficient. A great place for lunch and easy for take out.

Open late, food quality is a bit lacking. None of the entrees really stood out. Prices are pretty high for what ‘cha get. Not a repeat.

I had the chicken shawarma and it was delicious. I’ve had chicken shawarma sandwiches else where, but this was just delicious. The service was ok. I didn’t care for having to go and pay for my food, like I was at Denny’s, but not bill. All in all I will go back.

We decided to check out this place after a fellow Unilocaler reviewed it and we were not disappointed. I got the vegetarian platter with hummus, falafel, spinach pie, tabouli, and musaka(and it came with a feta salad). Everything was really good and the food came out after only like 5 minutes. The servers were really polite. They even went above and beyond at another table after forgetting their soup by coming over and apologizing even after someone else already apologized. This will probably be on our list of regular go-to places.

I was having a major hummus craving when I decided to make the trek out to Metairie and meet a friend of mine for lunch. I’ve been trying to open my horizons a little more and explore Metairie, so after some research, I found myself at Albasha. The place itself is easy to find, and surprisingly wasn’t packed for lunch. I started with a Lebanese iced tea as I looked over the menu. I knew that I was getting hummus, so I decided to order some Mediterranean hummus that came topped with olive oil, olives, sun dried tomatoes and feta cheese. I really could have just eaten an entire bowl of this stuff and called it a day– it was delicious! For my entrée, I decided to get the chicken shawarma. This was grilled chicken that came with hummus on the side(yay!), rice, and a salad topped with feta cheese. This was a HUGE portion of food. The chicken was good, but I did find some pieces to be a little dry. The hummus was delicious and the salad was small, but got the job done. I had plenty of leftover for dinner that night. I liked Albasha. The service was good, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was nice. It’s a great spot for lunch and I would return.

The boyfriend and I went here after we attempted to go to Acropolis to satisfy our Greek food craving. Their place is small and their service that night was terrible. We decided to come here and eat again. We were reluctant at first because of the slow service last time, but we were glad we gave it another chance. They have the best and most consistent gyros and chicken shawarma that I have tried so far. Their food takes a little while but their food always comes out hot and fresh. I like their smoky egg plant dip. The servers were nicer and friendlier this time. I would definitely come back.

Great place. Quick, polite service. The food is fresh and delicious. Some customization available. I had to take off one star because they pour tzatziki sauce on their delicious gyro meat even when you ask for it on the side.

Great food and very attentive staff! We had the chicken kabob and lamb kabob lunch specials. Plenty of food for the price. They both came with salad and hummus and pita bread. My lamb was slightly over cooked but still tasty. Next time I’ll ask for the salad dressing on the side as it was a bit too much. Overall a nice lunch and I hope to visit for dinner!

The food here, like the others in this chain, is absolutely delicious. It’s consistent and the portions are nice. The servers are awful. I walked in, was greeted by 3 unsmiling faces. My waitress acted like I was inconveniencing her by being there. Running off while I was talking twice. It wasn’t so busy that your average server wouldn’t be polite. Maybe they’re upset to be working on NYE? Still, I’m a Greek, I love Albasha, and I won’t be back here. I left right in front of an older waiter, leaning against the wall, who didn’t bother with any kindness– no thanks for coming, happy new year, nothing. If you want to feel like you’re imposing on a really grim Mediterranean family, come here!

I was a frequent visitor, but the past year or two I’ve been more disappointed than pleased. The waitstaff is barely adequate. The food frequently tastes off and even, at times, burnt. Yet, the bill is always increasing. My weekly/biweekly visits have dwindled to a handful of times a year. So sad to watch it’s decline.

I have a soft spot for Greek and Lebanese food. Albasha is neat, clean, and when I came in the middle of lunch time on a Friday, I was seated very quickly, and asked for my beverage order. The Lebanese iced tea was super yummy, and I can only say that it was like a green tea with rose water. I ordered the gyro plate, expecting a sandwich made from the back. It was a plate with all of the fixings and a basket of the pita bread. In my opinion, this was a nice surprise. Just enough garlic and spices were in the mix. The waiter was quick with service and did not hover(a good thing). I will be back!

We order from Albasha regularly for work lunches. Everything is good. Even my nearly 80 yr old grandmother liked it, having never tried Mediterranean before. Their fried(haloumi) cheese is the bees knees.

Ok I gave them two more tries and NO bad lettuce! Excellent falafel again, tahini sauce to die for.

I love Albasha in Baton Rouge so jumped to try the one in Metairie as soon as I heard about it. My favorite dish is the broiled fish that is topped with an abundance of sautéed fresh mushrooms. It is served with a plate overflowing with feta cheese topped green salad, hummus and rice and a basket of pita. The combination of flavors is fresh and wonderful. Our fish was cooked a bit longer than ideal but the dish was still good and very ample. The décor here feels very similar to the restaurant in Baton Rouge which is a good thing. I will be back.

I had been to Albasha before in another city and was pleasantly surprised to find one in Metairie. However, I was hesitant bc I hadn’t been to one in years. I was definitely pleasantly surprised! First, shout out to whoever controlled the tv’s because I was entertained by some great foreign music videos throughout the meal. Not sure what channel but it was reminiscent of Bollywood music vids but obviously not Bollywood. You get the point! Second, service great. Everyone very nice.(Negative– they could have been a tad quicker– I’ve been twice now and both times have taken a bit longer than I would like). Now for the food– great. I always have to judge a Mediterranean place by their falafel and I did enjoy it. The bf tried kibi as his app– he loved. For an entrée, I had the gyro platter. It was great. Couldn’t ask for more when it comes to Mediterranean food! Atmosphere– I would say this is more of a lunch place. Prob wouldn’t go for dinner or a «date» or anything but great lunch spot in Met!

The gyro salad is delicious! The lamb here is so very tender and melts in your mouth. Other things I’ve tried: 1. Stuffed grape leaves — filled with rice and meat similar to what dirty rice is like. Pretty good. 2. Humus– very creamy but very small portion for ~$ 6 3. Combo lunch plate — chicken is a little dry for my taste. Quite a large portion for the price! I’d definitely come here more often if it was closer to home. Probably weekly, so good thing I’m not that close!

As an LSU alumni who spent many a night eating dinner at Albasha and considered it my go to Mediterranean joint, I am happy to say that they still got it! I took off one star though because Pyramid Café is still my favorite Mediterranean joint. What can I say, there are more options down in New Orleans as compared to Baton Rouge ie. Mona’s, Babylon Café, Lebanon Café etc. I chose Albasha for my birthday lunch with co-workers be side I had to know if it was as good as the one in Baton Rouge! It was a pleasant surprise and located behind Lakeside mall. There was plenty of parking and a nice size restaurant with tons of windows. Our waitress was kind of grumpy but she warned up after we were friendly to her. I ordered the chicken shwarma and gyro combo plate and was quite pleased! The salad was fresh, the rice pilaf was tasty and so was the hummus. My boss liked that they had whole wheat pita that he had with his kabob combo plate. My co worker had the gyro sandwich and my other co worker had the lentil soup and moussaka. Everyone enjoyed their dishes which is a major bonus! One of my co-workers said she liked the lentil soup better at Mona’s. I like the gyro better at Pyramid Café but if I’m in Metairie and hankering for Mediterranean I will definitely head to Albasha! Thanks to AuraLee P. for letting me know Albasha opened up! Happy Mediterranean Dining!
